Look, I haven't played these Switch games yet. I just know that Doom has multiplayer so it's safe to assume it's a port, and so I'm going to assume Wolfenstein is as well. Who knows if they're good ports? If I had to guess I'd say they probably will run worse than their PS4/XB1 counterparts. But if they're ports, they are still MILES ahead of those half assed ports of last gen games Wii U got and the Wii call of duty games which literally were not the same games as the ones people care about. If Wii ever got a modern warfare it was a shoddy side story but no one knows if they did because no one used their Wii to play Call of Duty.

However if they came out with an Arkham collection on Switch that would be cool because it's portable. Wii U had nothing to offer those old games

Nintendo's multiplatform track record isn't that bad. They had some CoD games on Wii and Wii U, Arkham and Assassin's creed on Wii U. The problem with those is that they didn't get those consistently, which is what I worry might happen with Switch third-party games. So far, though, it seems like developers have more reason to put their games on the Switch and Nintendo seems to be taking more of an active interest in courting them.

Those games were all inferior versions or came out way later. Nobody gave a shit about Arkham City on Wii U like a thousand years after they'd played it on PS3. As a Nintendo fan I was very embarrassed for them when they were touting it

Also there was a GTA on DS. I remember thinking it was pretty good.

It's insane that Doom can run on Switch and even more insane that they're getting Wolfenstein II less than a year after its release on PS4/XB1. That's the most legit multiplatform release on a Nintendo console since like the EA sports games on Gamecube. It also means all bets are off with Bethesda. Fallout 3 probably isn't far off now and who knows, maybe fuckin Elder Scrolls VI could be a possibility. I doubt the graphics are going to be better than Doom's whenever that game finally releases.

If you have a Switch check out the demo for (Project) Octopath Traveler. It's cool. And whi could resist such a catchy name

I'll play it eventually probably. I too would like to play Super Metroid on an SNES Classic first if at all possible though

Rollins was great that year no doubt but he wasn't even the best Phillie while Utley was still in his prime.

Yeah the fact that they're producing more NES classics is heartening if not yet a full guarantee. It shows they aren't completely stupid at least and maybe means we can believe them sort of about producing more consoles this time. I feel you on that Elway fear though. As my brother is fond of recalling, the Cubs went to visit Trump just for fun this year after having already visited Obama. Just like when they were in town and wanted to hang out with him. The vast majority of white pro athletes voted for him but probably especially in baseball with a lot of those players coming from the south, but what's worse is that they're in that sadly huge pool of Trump voters who just think he's cool and smart. So my point is that I feel you on the living in fear of a pro athlete you root for coming out and saying that Trump is good

And in other extremely weird and bad news on the same subject, did you guys see that the Rangers forced the Astros to give up a home series? Rangers@Astros is starting up and obviously they can't play in Houston so the Astros asked if they could play a home series in Arlington and then the Rangers could play a home series in Houston later and they said no. Now they're playing in Tampa Bay and all proceeds are going to the relief effort which is nice but damn how unneighborly can you be Rangers

The Zelda DLC is decent and you might as well but it because you're gonna need that season pass when the real shit comes out later this year anyway. Since downloading the dlc I've put in another 10 hours or so. The heros path feature is fun because it shows you areas you haven't explored yet.

Have I become too cynical or is it annoying when an athlete pledges donations based on some arbitrary performance thing? It's one thing when it's like an organization and you sign up to for example donate per strikeout you record all season and it's kind of a fun thing for everyone but Matt Carpenter pledged 10k to Houston relief per home run he hits from here. I have no clue how licensing works in games but if it's similar to movies Square-Enix is probably set to take a percentage of the cut on each unit sold. The other option is that Nintendo paid out huge sums to the companies upfront and they don't get any money on the back end but that's probably not what happened because these are big companies and lifetime sales should make for a bigger sum in the end than the one off licensing fee. HOWEVER. If Square and Capcom have it in writing that only X number of units will ever be produced then I suppose the big pay out is probably better given that lifetime sales couldn't possibly eclipse a certain number in that case.

There's something weird going on with Nintendo and their classic catalogue these days and it's very upsetting to watch and take part in as someone who likes Nintendo games. It might not be cost effective for them to sell these things with licensing, but if that's the case I have two questions: why make these at all, and if you must make them why not charge a rate that you can make money off of? Sell em for $120 and people will whine and still buy it

Yeah. Not fully pitch black but it was dark. We could see a couple of planets in the distance too which was cool and kind of surreal in a starless sky. Looking at the sun during the totality was cool too. With the glasses on you couldn't see anything because it was so covered but with them off it was a big black circle with white around the edges. I mean you've seen pictures of course. It was cooler than I expected
