The tragedy for Marcin Lubowicki is not that he is an assistant manager at a McDonalds. It is that had he skipped college entirely, he would probably be a district manager by now, and much better off financially.
Right, because during the one life you have, it's better to concern yourself solely with climbing up higher financially rather than taking some time to learn about the world and study your passion. You're probably one of those types that believes that school is solely about preparation for the business world, no?
This anti-education bull**** is one of the main reasons I hesitate to call myself a Republican in public. And to think this used to be the party for intelligent people!
So your saying, the point of studying things like art and history isn't necessarily to prepare you for the business world and school shouldn't just be about improving yourself financially.
That's totally fine! And he's not disagreeing with that idea.
If your goal isn't financial, though, why are you shocked when you come out of school and your degree won't help you financially?
It's fine if you are learning and it's not for the purpose of getting a job. But.... when you can't get a good job and end up working at Mcdonalds, don't be surprised and call it a tragedy....

Funny thing about Pirateking, I actually thought about pushing Seventh Wave back to you just because it kinda matched with your name, till I realized the one that lined up with you was Ships of the Night.

Amon just took out Tarrlok for the exact moral reason the Equalists exist; because bending gives some people a completely unfair advantage of other people. That's what blood bending did, gave Yakone and Tarrlok an unfair advantage over everyone else that couldn't be allowed. Aang made the exact same decision as Amon regarding Yakone.

Nah, he's right, Asami is awesome. And Tahno's use was at an end.
Tahno was actually all around terrible even during pro bending though.
Disagree about Zuko. The heel turn he did makes perfect sense. Like you said he was still indecisive. He could have gone either way. Completing his face turn there would have meant much less since he hadn't thought about what the Fire Nation is all about as clearly and really realized how crazy his father is. It was after betraying his uncle and going back to the Fire Nation that he realized just how wrong the Fire Nation is and how right Iroh was about everything. This understanding is made much stronger with his guilt over what he did at Ba Sing Sei.

And yeah, that one scene is definitely an attempted rape scene, but it didn't really go that far. It was just the guy being like "I'ma have me some afternoon delight" and Lara being like "**** that:" It's not like clothes were being pulled off or anything.
I think that scene has been way blown out of proportion.

Compare that to the gameplay that preceded it. There's quite a big gap, don't you think? From tanking headshots all day erryday to the rapids scene, that's a big shift in gears.
Didn't see much difference in style, it all had the same cinematic desperate feel to me. It just went from Lara VS People to Lara VS the Environment.

I will say this; I have absolutely never cared for Lara Croft in any way at any time before. What a boring and pointless character. Even with the movies.
I think I may actually become a fan of her when this game comes out. It really has the potential to make you care and root for her.
Sooo not sure how this can be a step in the wrong direction.
Kanz, I wonder if your initial impression of the trailer clouded your judgement of the whole thing. When the trailer started and she was hanging upside down and she was crawling around in the cave I definitely thought "yeah, Kanz is right, torture porn." But the development over the course of the trailer definitely won me over. That's really the only way I can explain your view of the trailer as a whole; made your judgement at the start and just held onto it the whole way which would be really quite foolish.

Then again, you're calling the trailer "torture porn," so I really don't know if we're watching the same thing. >_>
I think he has a point for the first minute or so until she gets to the campfire., but that's when you clearly see her start developing more and more into a capable adventurer. Obviously still not there yet, but growing.
And that's the whole point of the game. At first she's just a normal college student thrown into some ****ing weird stuff and after somehow luckily barely surviving the initial onslaught she starts adapting and kicking ass. That is what I get from this trailer and I think that's exactly how it will be in the game.

We have to hold EVERY GAME to a higher standard. Videogames should evolve as a medium and have stories as good as books or the more thought-provoking movies if they're trying to tell a story instead of just prepping some dressing for the mechanics.
Video games are ALL ABOUT the mechanics! Nobody will buy a video game for the story if they don't like the mechanics. Video games are not primarily a story-telling medium, and they never will be. That's why we call them "games!" Do you open up your game of monopoly or chess looking for an engrossing story?
There are reasons that movies, books, etc. still exist and are popular and always will be. They are primarily storytelling mediums and nobody goes to a movie looking for gameplay.
I disagree with this post. I think a great story line is something near every game should strive for. Mechanics are definitely important, but I find games, especially if they are just single player, with weak or nonexistent story line / characters to be... mindless. A game should make me care about what's going on just like a book or movie should.
One thing I really like about this trailer is that it actually felt like a movie trailer. It didn't feel like a video game. Except I'm pretty sure that wasn't all cutscenes, there was actual game play footage laid in there and it didn't break it up. I think that's excellent.

I really have to ask Kanz, did YOU watch the trailer? Because this game is like, exactly the kind of immersive storytelling that gaming should be moving towards. I really get a sense of wanting to root for Lara to make it through whatever the **** is going on in that island.

So, I just watched that trailer. Yeah, I really don't see the problem. It does have her being like "ah! oh no!" a lot during crazy scenes early on, but you can clearly see a badass developing over time.
I mean the rape scene is right there in the trailer. She's hand cuffed while he makes his move and she beats the hell out of him and shoots him with his own gun. It's a pretty damn good scene if you ask me.
This is a lot of build up to what I can already tell is going to undoubtedly be an incredible Crowning Moment of Awesome.
I literally had zero interest in this game before this topic, but it actually looks really good to me now. I don't even play console games anymore but I think I may have to get this. Thanks guys!
But yeah Kanz your "rape isn't good writing" line is just absolutely dumb. There are plenty of great examples of attempted rape being used well, many in a song of ice and fire. It's even fine right in the trailer for this game.

Anyway, it sounds like the entire point of the game is Lara starting off a weakling afraid of **** and by the end of the game will be a total badass after making some cool moves.
If she's passive and weak throughout than that's a total failure on their part but that doesn't sound like their plan.

It's funny because nobody ever remembers Andrew's name in universe and neither does Zazi!
When the show was airing, there was definitely a feeling of Buffy starting to feel like it's dragging on while Angel still felt in its prime, I guess you are getting that feeling even now watching through it for the first time. Personally, I really liked Buffy S6 and S7.

All the council members might be benders, but I don't think it's a requirement. Sokka and an air temple guy were both council members during the Yakone days and I doubt that air temple guy was an air bender.

Yeah, it is a theory that is vaguely supported, but a lot of it is circumstantial and it's really only come about because people just really don't want Syrio to be dead. Even before his awesome portrayal in the show, which only ramped up people's love for Syrio Forel.

I think it's neat that Amon the Villain took away Tarrlok's super blood bending just like Aang the Hero took away Yakone's super blood bending. And for the exact same reason.

You don't foresee her getting all angry at Korra and Mako and rejoining her father with the equalists after she feels very betrayed? Especially if she walks in on Mako and Korra kissing again or something.

Oh man he ended up having an equalist glove I guess Genny was ri - Oh wait no, she was still completely wrong. Man that's so embarrassing acting that smug about this victory when it's actually a complete defeat.
If you really want to get into the details of it, he never did the set up until after Korra was gone in the truck. He didn't have the glove when he put her in the truck, so he must have gotten it after.
SOMEHOW you misinterpreted his dark skin as an equalist glove... and coincidentally he brought one out in the next episode.
But lets go back to the scene you saw the glove.
EXHIBIT A.
Soooo point to where on the picture you see an Equalist glove. I'll wait!
Since you are so good at differentiating skin tone from black gloves with big green power sources I'm sure it won't take long.

So, who's been watching Video Game High School? I just found out about it, and it's pretty good. It's a webseries funded by a kickstarter about a world where video games are the pop culture icon instead of sports, and it's set in a high school where people learn to kick ass in video games.
The production values are absolutely crazy for this. I can't believe how many extras and the special effects they have going on here. I was expecting something like The Guild where it's just a couple people filming in their houses and stuff, but this really goes up and beyond that. Wasn't expecting this quality from an independently produced web series.
One of the creators is Freddie Wong, some might know him from his channel freddiew where he makes all kinds of awesome stuff with some amazing special effects, such as this skyrim video:
