I made you listen to Red and Saturday People lmfao

you were not impressed

I only listened to Lights for the first time a year or two ago when I didn't have access to my library and asked my brother to load his playlist onto my Ipod. Both The Listening and Siberia were on there and man I fell in love. Quiet, Ice, Lions! Peace Sign. Pretend. I'm in love with all these songs. I don't know why she isn't playing on the radio, it seems that everybody I've talked to IRL knows about and loves her. I think she's genuinely my favourite artist, which is why I wanted to hear your thoughts. I'm glad you like her too!

Kinda funny that you had heard Lights before but somehow not this album. It's my favourite!

I'm actually putting off Skin & Earth right now since my current new music playlist has her acoustic stuff and yeah there's some great stuff here. A couple are misses for me, but I'm really into some of them. I'm loving Cactus in the Valley's acoustic version, whereas I see I rated the original only a 3/5, which is pretty low for her for me. Maybe I'm a sucker for duets.

Also don't forget to get My Boots sometime which is a single and not on any album (why does this happen???)

I'm actually a bit confused by that

Doesn't Hoid come by Kelsier in Secret History later on, when would he have had time to get wrapped up leading the Terris refugees? As I understand it, he was tricked by the Lord Ruler to look in the Terris Dominance just like everyone else, but I don't really get the timing of it all.

I think the warriors three missed out on having a cool 3v1 fight vs Hela. That's a missed opportunity... but it's a movie packed with awesome scenes, so it's not like we missed out on something awesome for a boring movie.

I really don't care that they died though. They were just boring stereotypes. Maybe they are cool in the comics, idk, but I didn't find them entertaining at all. I found Cap's Howling Commandos more entertaining and personable, which is funny because they are practically the same characters.

I kinda wish Skurge had died a little better too but oh well.

Sif is conveniently offworld or some shit and our boy Heimdall made it through so it's all good.

Having reread this, this is basically true, it's just worded in a way where the regret and apology is implied heavily without saying it, but an apology should've been worded far more straight forward than that. I guess that's why I felt so torn after reading it. Good spot.

Why does he need to apologize in this public statement? He's directly apologized to these women privately and unprompted before the article even surfaced. This isn't his apology to them, it's his public statement about what he's done to us.

I definitely feel like Shadows of Self and Bands of Mourning are... heavier than Alloy of Law. Part of what made Allow of Law so refreshing was how adventurous it is compared to the first trilogy. But I don't think it really loses that too much. I think they would have suffered if Brandon didn't try to add some weight behind what was going on. I love the whole Wax & Wayne trilogy. In fact, I'd say I really enjoyed Alloy of Law but didn't truly love it until Shadows of Self was over.

I've never really understood the thing people say about Mistborn being YA. Like I've read Twilight, the Hunger Games, Divergent, and Graceling, and Mistborn is so clearly at a higher literary level than those books. Brandon has even gone on to write Steelheart, which while very good is clearly intentionally written to be at the same level as those YA books. The difference in style, tone, and reading level are very apparent.

It's definitely a less matured version of Sanderson's writing, and it has certain idiosyncrasies you might notice (rolls his eyes and snorts) if you pay attention to things like that, but YA? I don't really see it.

I love Ryan too but man am I so mad at him right now. Getting rid of Ali this week actually was the right move for him but it's only because he so COLOSSALLY fucked up the prior week by backstabbing her for no reason. He really could have just told her to vote out Roark and she woulda been on board. He burned a strong and loyal ally for absolutely no benefit.

purely from this episode i would have totally expected Chrissy to go home, especially since she pretty much self destructed at that tribal council

RIP Roark

You never can trust the weasel

I think he made some pretty big mistakes here.

1) keeping a weak member at challenges like Chrissy who literally lost them an immunity challenge when he's already a weak membber at challenges who literally lost them a reward challenge is pretty iffy. It's a good way to come straight back to tribal council.

2) He blindsided Ali so bad here. This is worse than Cole telling all of Jessicas secrets. He might have irreparably damaged a very strong relationship. He really could have just told her what he was intending to do. She wouldn't have antagonized Chrissy so much at tribal council if she knew Chrissy was staying. Weasel really hung Ali out to dry here.

3) Chrissy is honestly kind of erratic. Despite the idol play that made a bond, I don't think she's a great ally to take further into the game. Roark probably would be more reliable.

One trope I'm not a huge fan of that I'm finding in common between Buffy and VM - it seems imperative that we understand the protagonist would be cool/popular, if not for such-and-such circumstances. I feel like it's a distinction that the showrunners need to be made for some reason, perhaps because the lead actresses look like lead actresses. But no such qualification usually applies for male characters.

I actually like this - it grants them social acumen and grace and all of the benefits of being a cool person without actually being part of the "problem" as we see it with the mean girls or whatever that we can setup as antagonists.

Veronica in Riverdale is a lot like this and I think she's spectacular (though I've only seen like the first episode or something)

I think it's generally more "okay" for a guy to be unpopular from being geeky or (especially) unattractive, so you don't see this as often. The loner bad boy who just doesn't want to be part of the cool crowd is kinda similar though.

oh hey bob weinstein

http://deadline.com/2017/10/bob-weinstein-sexual-harassment-accusation-the-mist-producer-amanda-segel-1202190054/

Variety also reported that Segels lawyer David Fox of Myman Greenspan informed TWC COO David Glasser of the harassment. A company rep today denied Glasser was contacted by Fox. It also said a deal was reached that Segel would continue her work on the show but arrangements were made that she was never to be in the same room as Weinstein or on telephone calls with him, an agreement that was honored by Weinstein. It was also agreed that TWC would let Segel out of its option to keep her on the show if it was picked up for a second season.

Yeah, you guys were definitely not contacted and there was definitely no harassment... but a deal was made for no reason that Segel would never have to interact specifically with Bob Weinstein.

Seems legit.

It's hard to say since I've only extensively sat in the Classic. I did try out some Formula chairs at a local memory express, and they felt pretty good, but the size was way too small for me. It's definitely a little more structured than the classic. It's hard to say for sure since I've only tried ones too small, but I think if you have the properly sized chair there'd still be room to slouch. I've seen a lot of streamers with those chairs and they look pretty damn relaxed.

I'd suggest trying to find a local store in your area that might have a couple on display you could try. It's usually specialty big box computer part stores that do that. Memory Express is the name to look for in my city of Edmonton but you'd probably have something else where you are.

Thanks for posting, everybody!

Definitely leaning towards the DXRacer based on what I've seen here and through my own research. Only thing giving me pause is a lot of folks out there seem to think it's inferior to the ergonomic office chairs out there like Herman Miller... but looking into those it sounds like those chairs are all designed to force you to sit correctly, not really fit for lounging like I want to do when I'm at home.

godspeed

those serious ergonomic chairs get real pricy too, and yeah they force you to sit a certain way. i wouldnt mind one for the office but when I'm home just relaxing, that just isn't what i want.

I have a DXRacer and it is literal heaven

https://www.dxracer.com/us/en-us/product/1/office_chairs/classic_series/office_chair_oh-ce120-nr/

This is the one I have and my god is it incredible. It doesn't matter if I'm in the chair for an hour or 10 hours, it's just as firm and comfortable. It's perfection.

They have a ton of models, and this one is kind of an odd one out. It's shaped a little differently than most you've probably seen before and leather, while the others are all fabric.

The leather was KILLER on me for a few weeks after I first got it since i am soft like baby. The bottoms of my thighs were very sore from it for awhile. But now that I'm broken into it it's amazing. If I were to start fresh with one, I'd probably get one of the fabric ones though, since I usually prefer fabric over leather in general. If you are good with leather in general though then the Classic is great. And one of the better ones for heavier guys. The differences between models are mostly based on your height and weight.

Some would balk at the price of being like $500 but I think that's kinda silly. It's normal to spend hundreds or even thousands on any normal piece of furniture like a couch or whatever. For nerds that spend all day their computer chairs, it's well worth the price. I used to use executive style chairs that were often $150-200 and I'd never go back to those now, I certainly wouldn't want those cheaper style chairs you find at staples or whatever. I often sit in those chairs when I'm there just to see how they feel now and they are complete garbage.

I'm sure their competitors like Maxnomic are fine too, though I don't think they are that much cheaper.

DXRacer 4 life

I've seen a lot of stuff that indicates that it's not just Harvey that is giant creep, his brother Bob is exactly the same way. But it seems like Bob is getting off scot free and getting control of everything they are taking from Harvey. Why is this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr7SeMADIwo#t=13m30s

This video was made almost 20 years ago and is clearly about Bob and Harvey Weinstein.
