All I have to add is that I don't think anyone legitimately thinks he's a racist or that he dislikes black people because he used the word, it just makes him an insensitive asshole. I'm black, I've played games online since online gaming has been a thing and I think we all know how commonly that word is used online. I think this may be the first time I've ever used this word in reference to myself... but I have to admit that it's a bit "triggering". Unfortunate as it may sound, nearly every black person of adult age has been called a ****er at some point in their life and when it's used specifically to hurt or dehumanize... it doesn't feel the same as any other swear word. Now context is important, and while I don't feel like this needs to be said... there is a huge difference between an -a and an -er. The latter is never used in a friendly way and is basically used synonymously with a word like "fucker". The -a can be used in any context but is much more commonly used as a form of endearment by blacks and non-blacks everywhere.

When I hear someone say "shoot that ****er!", or something similar in a video game, I'm not really ever assuming that person is a racist in real life, but I do have an involuntary response to it. It's almost like I'm instantly on-edge and it's just... shitty. It's not the same when you're listening to rap music because they are quite literally different words and ****a is never used in a hateful context.

So yeah, I didn't care much for him before and I can't say this surprises me in the least.

I have a question. When did the a instead of er begin? Was it dialect that carried over? I always kind of assumed it was due to music and the a sound rhyming / flowing more in song.

User Hotdogbutts has a point. Why, just yesterday I was watching the Bears/Falcons game. We should have won, but I watched 2 BLACK receivers drop the ball in the endzone thrown by their WHITE quarterback! I was so mad, I let out so many racial slurs, that it would've made my mom cry, if she weren't also saying the same things! I don't know what came over me! There is a few diff camps. One where those words are the exact same. One where a and er are different. One where it should be said by no one whether white or black. One where whites should not be allowed to say it while everyone else is allowed to freely.

Personally, I only care about intent. If you are using it as an insult, it is pretty clear cut what the intent was.

His opinion isn't the most accepted one. You can go to any concert with lyrics of that type and see hundreds of white people there with black people singing along.

It is the intent that matters. Pewdewpie's intent was to use it as an insulting term while not even knowing if the other side could possibly in fact be an african-american. It was super poor usage and very offensive.

Well, just go play the game and get them. That's not much different than a FTP game where you can buy something you can earn in game.

I agree the random boxes is lame unless it is severely discounted from what a straight purchase would be. Clash Royale and other games use that method of selling. But, again, those aren't necessarily a $60 game either.

Getting more Shaders isn't actually more content though. It means you're doing the same content over and over. That's the same problem Destiny 1 had.

Most mmos is doing the same content over and over and being driven to by systems.

From mount drops on old raid or dungeon bosses to different pieces of armor in current raids. Transmogs in different areas. Rep. Etc.

Almost all mmos use getting you to repeat the same content to keep you busy at end game tactic.
