Um...you realize this rule completely changes the meaning of the question for some people? Some of us have really close friends who post on board 8, that's way different from the users who don't actually know anyone here IRL.

Ok, so he's the CEO. That means he probably didn't do ANYTHING to make ff13, other than approve it. That's how it works, right? Each game gets its own director who is in charge of everything? And they supervise the making of the game, and this guy, being the head of ALL of SquareEnix, supervises that guy who is supervising the creation of the game? So he probably had very little to do with the creation of ff13 or the creative decisions involved. So why should I care if he didn't like it? (Which of course he never said, he just said it, and also 8 to 12, weren't as good as 7)

I really don't see how it's a betrayal. So this one guy doesn't like ff13...and that's a betrayal because he worked on it and he admits it was bad?

Except, first of all, ff13 was worked on by hundreds of people, and most of the things I like about it came from people other than this guy, whoever he is. (I'm sure he's someone really important, but whatever)

And second of all, I don't see what is so anti-ff13 about that statement. Isn't he saying that he thinks NONE of the FF games made after 7 were as good as 7? So the same statement applies to 8, 9, 10, and 12.

It's also not exactly a huge insult. "Not as good as 7" doesn't mean "bad", it just means that 7 is better. So I don't see why you are taking this as an indication that he thinks 13 was a big mistake or that it was a bad game. He's just saying it wasn't as good as 7, and you know what, he's probably right, because no game since 7 has ever gotten the kind of reaction that 7 did. There is nothing wrong with admitting that. It's not an insult to the games that came after it, because it's pretty obvious that they were all missing a special something that 7 got right and nothing since then has.

Haha, wow. I, of course, agree with him, but I do feel kind of bad for all those who genuinely liked FFXIII. This is really a kick in the face.

Yeah, I mean, I really liked ff13, but now that some japanese guy I've never heard of before (who I guess is an important guy at SquareEnix) said he thinks it's not as good at ff7, I just feel STUPID for liking it!

And, even more, YOU went on a website that's designed for people to post things about your life, and are complaining that people do so? Because there are soooo many more important things for you to do on facebook?

Well, I wouldn't say I "hate" the contests. It's not exactly a big deal either way. But, I don't care about the contests at all, compared to I find the polls sort of amusing and interesting for 30 seconds each day. So, when a contest starts, I'm like "Awww...no more polls. Oh well" But obviously the reddit dude is an idiot for caring that much.

Do you guys realize how hypocritical you guys are being? Think about all the people who say "The contests are dumb and pointless and forgetable, who cares about them?" And you think the people who say that are obviously stupid, because the contests are actually really interesting, right?

Now, just replace the word "contest" with the word "poll" and that's what everyone in this topic is saying. And believe it or not, there are those of us who find the polls to be interesting. That is the ONLY reason to dislike the contests: because they replace the polls. So, if you're someone who finds the polls interesting, and the contests boring, then that means contest = bad.

To the guy who said the polls are "predictable": Don't people say the same exact thing about the contests? And the response to those people is always "Then why aren't you winning?" I bet that if I asked you to predict the results of every poll, there's no way you'd be able to. So don't call them predictable.

To me, it's interesting to see a new statistic every day. How many people own X, how many people make X life choice, etc. It's not interesting to me to see that some random character is more popular than some other random character...for 2 months.

The quote seems pretty self-explanatory...The contests are bad because they replace the polls. Personally, I find the contests relatively boring, and I find myself never caring about any of the matches or results. All the matches are pretty much the same. The polls, however, are unique and interesting, and it's nice to be able to see a new a new fun result every day. And, unlike with the contest, there is a different subject every day, whereas with the contest, it's as if the poll of the day is replaced by the same question every day: "Which character do you like more?" instead of the more varied polls we usually have. Every time a contest starts, I am always dissapointed, because it means no more polls for what feels like forever.

I've never seen Big Brother, and I was kind of interested in trying to watch Glass House...But then I read that the outcome of the game is decided entirely by votes from the viewers? Survivor is the only reality show I've seen, and I it would be similar to that, but if the voting is done by the public, doesn't that mean the show is essentially just a contest to make viewers like you more? I'd be interested in watching if there was still strategy and if anyone could win, not just the super likeable people...

Have I got it wrong impression? Is it still worth watching?

I mean, it's a fighting game. Looks interesting enough. Going to be free so there'd be no harm in trying it out. You like the characters. Appeared in Game Informer and generated a small amount of non-brony buzz so it's not a project you'd by default be unfamiliar with. But it's also a fandom work.

I didn't realize I needed permission to be hyped for something!

come to think of it, I think I saw a video of it once, but I only remember it vaguely. if it's free, then who knows, maybe I'll try it someday if it's really easy to download and set up

To me, jurors have to be objective. If your attitude as a juror is "I think you were mean to me so I won't vote for you," that is not objectively analyzing the person, and this is where my "immaturity" comments stem from.
But the fact is, jurors are often not objective. Do you believe that a player should take this account when playing their game? If the jury is not objective, does the blame lie on them, or on the player, for not appealing to them?
