BUT, Tommy also had to navigate the chaos of modern Survivor, and tailor his game to that. This is a season of tough, Type-A personalities, and I can only imagine them butting heads. Ben/Jeremy/Tyson are all alpha male leader types, so I feel like theyll take each other out. Given that the cast skews older as well, Id write off Nick and Adam as well. Plus Rob and Tony will inevitably be targeted as threats. That leaves Ethan, Tyson, Wendell, Ben, Yul and Jeremy. Ethan is too old school to be successful, Ben was a weak winner the first time around, Tyson is too cocky, Jeremy has that All-Star stigma. | Espeon 12/06/19 3:29:22 PM #151 | The problem with Cambodias cast is that, aside from Shirin, Stephen and Kass having storylines that were direct reactions to their original seasons (the bullying victim becomes the alleged bully, not wanting to lose to the golden boy again, trying to play in a nice manner), Abi being batshit crazy for four episodes, and Spencers fabricated story of learning to have emotions...the other 75% of the cast feels completely interchangeable with one another. Like, the fans voted (on an arbitrary selection of players selected by the producers), and they chose this cast, and why did we even bother? If you liked Vytas, he was irrelevant and literally anyone couldve gotten the hes kind of a sleaze boot. If you liked Shirin, even though Jeff tried to force a storyline of her going from hero to villain, anyone couldve gotten her youre an untrustworthy gamebot edit. If you liked Peih-Gee, anyone couldve gotten on Abis bad side and gotten her edit. If you liked Varner, anyone couldve gotten his edit. For example, Jack lasted 7 episodes and all I know about him is that he said something racist once and it led to a learning moment. Stuff like that is why I'm confused that Reddit is calling this the best season since Kaoh Rong, especially with DvG only two seasons ago. This is kinda the problem with modern Survivor (from a fan base perspective) in general. They care more about blindsides and big moves than anything else. To me, blindsides lose their appeal when the characterization isnt there. She, alongside Vanille, is the real main character of the game. The story just gets told from the perspective of people that her/Vanilles actions impact. So its not like shes a terrible champion. And she was popular enough to survive as the FF13 support coalesced around her.
