Flip a coin if you don't need to use Basch's breaks or support. You will still need Mog plushie for provoke either way if you can't get up Gladiolus' lb very often.

Basch needs ribbon. Gladiolus doesn't once enhanced.

Once Basch gets his enhancements they split on charm and stop.

Got a Kryla from event tickets, not too thrilled with that one, but cool I guess.

So I imagine WKN is leagues better than Basch for magic tanking, and the provoke is nice. But I'm way behind on pots since I haven't been playing much lately, and I just upped Basch to 7* not too long ago. Is he so much better that he'd be worth the UoC ticket? My only other choice really is GLS, and I know that without a lot of her on my friend list, she's next to worthless. Long-term it seems like the better choice to go WKN, I just feel kinda meh on it because that pretty much means Basch was a wasted investment.

JP-players still use Basch.

The difference is WKN is more focused and can naturally provoke.

What you should keep in mind in the future is elemental resistances goes tetris.

It's just a random value between two sets of numbers, right? So the tighter the variance, the more likely you'll hit consistent values, whereas a wider variance gives for a far greater degree of random values. It's more like playing the lottery and hoping for big numbers in that regard?

Think of it as you ignore the weapon and you bamf up your shotgun to spitting out elephant-killing slugs. Maybe cyborg-elephants if it's high end variance.

Variance bumps up the damage output significantly when it gets rolling with 7*.

Yuffie showed why with the dice so the damage formula got nerfed in JP.

I still don't understand why Cloud's 180 Attack STMR weapon is 'vastly' superior to Hyoh's 180 Attack STMR weapon. Is a larger variance really that big a deal? Isn't is just the same as comparing consistency and inconsistency?

That variance matters once you factor in TDH and elemental imbue.

A normal weapon have 0.15 variable that is minus or positive. These types of weapons goes higher than that. (Weapon types can have higher variance outside 2-handed.)

Cloud:
(Two-Handed) +180 ATK (+50% Accuracy, Variance: 1x~1.6x)

Hyoh:

ATK+180 (Variance: 0.85x~1.15x)

Speaking of Sakura, I'm somehow not tempted to just blow my UoC on her, even though I pulled like crazy over Halloween for her. Maybe it's because absolutely nobody is sharing her as a friend unit. This game really, really needs to fix its friend system badly. Hell, Puzzle and Dragons recently did an update where you can bring your own unit as a friend, because there's so many out there that it's impossible to find one to fit your team unless you're running the most meta of meta units.

With E7, you can pick a friend unit for every class, so there are a ton of options. That's another thing I wish FFBE would do. If the lead support unit doesn't have what you want, just scroll through the other options and you should be able to find something. Still not as good as bringing your own unit as a friend though! That would be ideal.

They were supposed to do something recently like that in JP, iirc.

I'm really trying to wrap my head around why he would even need W-Ability. If you can't get a breaker into your party sure, I can maybe see it to make his breaks more efficient? Beyond that, it just seems like such a weird choice for a slot.

Well I only got Basch and Prompto out of this batch, and Prompto I only 7*-ed so I could get his STMR. I don't even care if it's good, I know I'm going to get more mileage out of it than I ever would of the unit, much less two of him. I haven't even played the game and I can just tell he's obnoxious.

It's to continue his middle-of-the-road tanking by being a better WoL to boot. (Plus I don't say no to his new upgraded CS, even though you won't see it all the time.)

Edit: Forgot that Basch is one of those tanks that can trade his shield for elemental resistances without losing too much in the process.

You tailor it according to the fight.

Can't bring dupes.

Bard skills lock your party for the duration.

You can switch out specific units and keep their buffs.

Boss usually have a hard stop, so you can't nuke it on turn one.

Dead units stay dead if switched and hurts your slots.

As you beat more you need to keep physical and magical attackers.

They take more effort since you need different units if you want to chain and can rotate what harms them.

We're still in re-run territory for events I never got to play, so I'm fine with the free tickets if nothing else. And the 1/2 NRG for all the trials seems pretty good to me; I've got a ton to catch up on.

Any thoughts on how tough Leviathan's 3* is? Bastard was tough enough as a 2* battle, I'm a little worried about how brutal his 3* is going to be.

Auron is a breaker/Chainer.

Gladiolus will be hedgehog stopper, while the fake captain will be charm proof.

Jecht will be a chainer, just like Altima for magic.

Tifa will continue the DR+line.

Caith Sith will replace Vanille in the arena.

Nanaki will be be pretty good just like Beowulf.

Aerits replaces Ayaka.
