One is allowing the public to decide with all information handed to them, one is trying to block other points of view from reaching the public. Those are not the same thing.

I 100% would not support conservatives trying to ban discussion about questioning their ideas even if they think banning those ideas is necessary to prevent harm. I can't think of a good example but Im sure there are some and I would disagree with them fully in that case

If someone is saying hey, we need full disclosure to get to the bottom of this and then the other goes no you can turn around and tell the first person they cant prove it, sure. But the first step should be getting the disclosure and then see if the person can prove it.
