I agree with wg here. One guy used an emulator cheat function, one didn't. That's all that matters.

It's not strictly about skill or "feeling superior" to anyone, because (as pointed out) it's entirely possible the other guy is a better player and displayed more skill on the intermediate levels. Skill is separate from legitimacy.

For another more extreme example, you could have one guy do a ridiculously impressive TAS speedrun on hardest difficulty, while another guy barely limps through the final boss on easy. First guy is better but it's not a legit clear.

Yeah, I think Squall at the beginning genuinely likes being alone. Obviously that's a result of his abandonment issues and he comes to question it over the course of the game; but at the start, he's secure in his way of thinking. (At least I think he doesn't start showing self-doubt until significantly later?) Endgame Squall is a very different person but it doesn't mean early game Squall didn't really want solitude, they just want different things.

Also it's pretty patronizing to suggest he doesn't know what he wants just because he's a teenager! Maybe he doesn't have his whole life sorted out but even a 3-year-old can say "Leave me alone" because they want to be left alone.

I nickname my pokemon! (Suboshi the Raticate and Rasconza the Gyarados from Pokemon Red, the dynamic duo. They were RIVALS with my Cloyster and there were all sorts of turf wars up in Box 1)

But I was never going to trade them to Pokemon SwSh anyway, so I don't feel like the rug is pulled out from under me, or whatever the current metaphor is.

still thinking of how to automate trading

maybe you could have a few different personality templates. like there's "dante," who always just saves his favorite final fantasy character. then you have "trader," who will first save their highest living priority, and then auto-trade for that character until safe. (mechanically: when their save comes up, they offer an auto trade. the next bot who checks the topic and is also a trader will accept the trade.)

you could also have "picky trader," who will auto-trade for anyone not in their bottom 10 (or something).
