nah the bigger room is his but he doesn't like to use it because the air conditioning doesn't really get there, he complains about the ventilation, he can't breathe, it's hot, so he often wakes up in the night and moves to sleep on the livingroom couch

there is also a den... but again it's another tiny room that can barely fit any of the beds we have so last month me 'n gsis finally convinced him to turn it into an office and put his computer in there, and we moved the 3rd bed that WAS in there out into the livingroom since he so often sleeps there anyways

it seems the biggest reason he wants to keep the big bedroom though is because it has its own bathroom with a stand-up shower and he fears slipping and falling in the normal bathroom

day 2 progress, almost done inking... but now too sleepy get the dillo ears & tail done. also the fishnet sleeves aren't quite separated yet, I'm still thinking of how to really do the arms for ringing... thinking I'll just forego the arm/forearm layer separation and leave it to broader arm movement only, maybe with a warp deformer to manipulate the different arm segments

spoilers because i didn't even watch it til yesterday so who knows others reading lmao

so yeah Curse of Chucky has the child of Chucky x Tiffany: Glen, where the issue of gender first comes up when they pee their pants, the parents remove Glen's pants, and they got nothin' down there. This is leads to the debate where Chucky insists their child is just a late bloomer, naming them Glen - but Tiffany believes their child is a daughter, Glenda.

To start with, their names are actually reference to a 1950s, Glen or Glenda. Again also incredible for its time but dated today as a story inspired trans woman but instead made on transvestism, more in line with the director/writer.

But yeah that's just background! Honestly it shows earnest insight to use such a reference. As for Seed of Chucky that beginning argument of Glen/da's gender based around their genitals is a reinforcement of the bioessentialist view that genitals = gender. Glen at the time isn't really introduced to be particularly androgynous, as the narrative defaults them as male throughout the film - but whatever it's silly but a springboard into the topic of gender identity.

At the same time though, Glen/da's perspective is treated as ambiguous. When asked which they are, Glen/da responds that they don't know. They were abandoned at birth and that wasn't a consideration they grew up to have. They respond further saying that they can identify with both, that they feel like a boy, but also like a girl. The conversation feels incredibly validating, that Glen/da isn't wrong to feel this way, and that any decision would be right for them. There are some crass jokes about it from Chucky sure, but I mean yeah it's Chucky and even then he's not exactly hateful about it.

Unfortunately the insightful references also lead into played out harmful tropes. Glen throughout the movie is depicted as an innocent child who til meeting his parents believed murder to be wrong. When they first embrace their identity as Glenda however, she is revealed as an unhinged murderer playing into the all-to-common crossdressing killer trope like the iconic features of Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, or even Rocky Horror Picture Show. At this point Glen/da is instead depicted not as one non-binary person, but as a split personality where the female identity is the unhinged lunatic as a counterpount to the default timid male persona, like Norman Bates transforming into his mother.

Part of it you can accept as this is a horror movie, they're the child of Chucky & Tiff, you *knew* they'd turn out murderous like their parents, but the way they did it is riddled with problems. And at the same time, they also portray insightful consideration for Glen/da's questioning identity affording validation to the different forms of expression. Unfortunately the form depicted in the end is of the harmful tropes and Glen/da results into splitting their soul into the bodies of two newborn children, one girl and one boy.

i wanna give gsis a sincere warning to please not put up with emotional abuse from a partner just for the sake of gluing together a family but I know that's obviously not a conversation anyone's gonna be receptive to

it's truthfully a sentiment I've wanted to touch on for a while with the behaviour I've been witnessing during my stay this year but yeah I know not to bother because not only it isn't something people wanna hear, but she also gets it a lot from our parents as it is who have absolutely no place to talk with their actions so I don't want to just pile on as the only family member that's actually there for her, plus when gmom & gdad do it she tells her partner which just sours all their relationships and isolates her further

but fuck, honestly speaking he has an incredibly short fuse and his outbursts are very frequent, unbelievably childish, not okay, and I know they are emotionally devastating on gsis who already puts up with so much

it's real frustrating, I understand that she strongly wishes to provide a happy family for her daughter, especially growing up from our broken family and all the trauma it dumped on me & my siblings. but I also know that that hope for a family fantasy can very easily be taken for granted, and that my sister in particularly has an incredibly high tolerance for abuse, tanking the most of it out of our very messed up family, and in a very long prior relationship.

Like I don't even mean to be demanding her to break off her family or anything like that, it's absolutely her life and if she thinks it's worth, believes she can make things work, I absolutely can't argue that. But I truly hope that she can just honestly reflect on her situation and acknowledge that there is a line that you can't force yourself past. She's complained to me before about some times he lashes out but in those talks she also rationalizes it with "that's what a relationship is, to be there for each other through the good times and the bad"

Some of the story beats were a little hard for me to understand but then I go online and read what happened and I gain a large appreciation for it all.

this is definitely a big one for me, during playthrough I was very much confused with a lot of what was happening, but by the end of it I think the DLC does a great job at progressing the overall franchise plot and I love it

tbh it's something I was largely disappointed in XB3 base-game for, I didn't enjoy its franchise direction at all but this DLC does it much better

also someone that overall doesn't have much issue with the MCU

my two 'bad' choices are Quantumania & Black Widow

for shows I would just say Ms. Marvel with the caveat that I still really enjoyed its main cast a lot... but the structure of its 6 episodes was an absolute mess that I do consider the show to be bad

I enjoyed Challenge Battles in the previous games but as I've mentioned in a few XB3 topics I just really didn't enjoy the gameplay in this one so I kinda just wasn't interested to come back for it, especially months after the fact and forgetting every class and their skills

I'd be interested if the battles have restricted challenges that force you to use specific setups, that's how Xenoblade 1 did it which was pretty cool and you actually had to understand each character's moveset and how to use them. But XB3 with its massive parties with wiiiiide variety of options just feel like tossing so much into a blender that you don't care so much about the individual pieces.

It's something I like though about this DLC and it really shows off the paradox of choice - I had a pretty good understanding of the different characters in this game. There's 2 tanks, 2 DPS, 2 healers all with set 6 abilities each to figure out how best to use and how they differ from the other character of that class. You can mix and match the ordering of the arts to find specific Fusion attributes which is really cool and it's not at all overwhelming.

beated at 30:42, exploration 98% and Community just missing Nopon Medals and finish recipes

Story I'm kind of a mixed bag with positives and negatives, but by the end I think I'm leaning positive. Unfortunately it took way too long for me to realize WHEN we were and that kinda messed up my interpretations for a good while. But yeah yeah then I checked XB3's Founders Memorial and that cements it, maybe I regret coming avoiding all trailers because I would've prepared for that sooner. Although damn those statues really do just tell you the ending.

Characters though I enjoyed decently for what is a smaller DLC story. I really appreciate this time coming back to a more mature cast of characters, particularly being introduced to Matthew with A, then Glimmer & Nikol in context work really well as Keves & Agnus soldiers stuck in the cycle. With those two as well the nostalgia for their parents kinda does a *lot* of heavy lifting for their characterization, but being a DLC story you kind of need those shortcuts and it's all enjoyable. Oh god though is Shulk & Rex enjoyable. Shulk is shockingly consistent with his original character and the game in particular really hones in on XB1 nostalgia more than 2 and you just really feel once you hit Colony 9, but then it even continues hard on Ragmos & Black Mountain with Bionis Leg, Valak Mountain, and Prison Island all 100% blended into the world with Raguel Lake, Kana Peak, and well everything of Prison Island. Sooo much more moments too as well of Shulk & Nikol bonding, like you even get it all the time whenever you do a Field Craft and Nikol's really just a babby Shulk lol. Strange though that they seemingly turned Shulk's Monado into a Blade? It would've made sense just to leave that as an ordinary weapon like Nikol and leave Blades as a XB2/XB3 thing.

Rex I mean come on they made him so cool now which is absolutely hilarious after he used to be so disliked in the main game as a kid (not that I ever hated him). Glimmer though really feels like she gets a lot less focus, but I love how the hair colour is Pyra, style is Pneuma, but personality is totally Mythra - which works well as a teen, I think Glimmer's personality, along with her amazing voice acting, is just one of the most apt portrayals of a teenage character.

A's an interesting one to put a finger on, she's left very mysteriously for most of the game although if you pay attention you obviously understand who she is, at least since XB:DE gave Alvis that aegis crystal. Like with the babies it helps a lot for her character if you just consider the fact that she simply *is* Alvis with a lot of that character beneath, like when she and Shulk nod together. I'm not sure about how I feel about Alvis's split overall though, it's just feels out of nowhere since it's not how Alvis appears in XB1 and this DLC doesn't really explore him much.

also lmao tho the opening gave me some expectation that we might finally get some characterization of Z in this thing since he was in the prologue with Shulk & Rex but they REALLY didn't give a single ass finger to explain it, what an absolute mess of a character he is. I'm glad though that Consuls were ditched after you free Nikol & Glimmer because I was worried there with oh wait are they trying this again but no phew.

Anyways positive and negatives it's definitely a good DLC, just particularly so if you love XB1 and well of course I do. It's hard to compare it & Torna, if it weren't for that heavy nostalgia I would definitely take Torna's ending over Future Redeemed, but I really wanna replay it before I compare between them overall.

As for the ending I feel that HAS to hint on Shulk & Rexes gang coming back for more, I mean Rex specifically tells that to Glimmer and it does make sense, the worlds have finally come together in this ending. Which hey I'm glad about, there's definitely more to explore about these worlds coming together. I think the word from Takahashi was just that the Klaus experiment was ending, so that doesn't mean that's the end for all the characters. Of course, I don't expect a story based on them but rather the same thing we keep doing with a new cast of main characters and the previous cast getting development in the background of their story.

More obviously though, we don't know Rex's blonde baby. Redhead is Glimmer, silver hair Mio, blonde hair ??? Also wow it's just now hitting me that Glimmer & Mio are sisters, like yeah obviously but I didn't actually think about it. Speaking of babies, Linka was obvious but it took a while for me to realize Panacea must be Reyn & Sharla's kid and as far as I can tell so far you only really get that hint by the fact that Panacea mirror's Linka for Shulk. I think I finally accepted it when you finished their Community missions but they really just leave at oh they've known each other a while and not really a mention of her parents. I like how slanted the main cast baby's gender ratio is so far lol

okay yeah Piccolo is absolutely great in Super Hero too, him and Pan are great.

... Goku/Vegeta stuff is just the same thing they've been doing ever since Beerus came into the picture... training on his planet all day every day

I never cared about Gamma-1 & Gamma-2 though, it's hard to get passed the silliness of just building androids to this level of strength where we're at. I loved the original Cell because he had to earn himself up to Perfect with the absolute horror show of absorbing entire cities of people before moving up to the Androids, who themselves are just given a free gimmie that's bizarre given how little their makers understand about the true powers of the universe.

also as an old super gohan fan it's sad to see him being made into such a joke, the excuse used to be let him be a family man but now it looks like he's just another Goku only sub out fighting for studying... and his studies are shown to be goofy ants lol

maybe I could enjoy this as a launching point for him if the series hasn't already run him through this exact same plotline like 5 times now, each one ending with the lesson he should keep up with his training from then on

Terminator movies done

Dark Fate really is just The Force Awakens for the Terminator series... it's kinda okay to watch for its own thing but it's just an incredibly hack version of the previous stories that it's required to completely slash down to redo it... all while keeping whatever legacy characters they CAN keep (Arnold & Sarah Connor) to act as mentor types for the new editions that do the exact same thing as the old.

But because they have to give all this screentime to Arnold & Sarah Connor they don't get to spend any time develop their characters in their own right, it's just exposition given to them about how important that must be. You can say there's a bit of that in the concept of the first movies but T1's set pieces are still very much guided by Arnold, Sarah Connor, and Kyle Reese, with T2 subbing out Kyle Reese for now John Connor who we've been set up to see. They're all very tight stories that feel like they have something to say instead of "let's just do a terminator movie"

I understand T3 isn't held to the regard of the first two, and I can see why of course, but I appreciate it had a story to say and that ending truly does fit in with the series - underlining that the future has to occur to make the past. Even Salvation which yeah that was the point I was starting to zone out, but it was finally giving us something the last 3 movies were guiding us to: John Connor in the apocalypse. It's problem is that it just feels like a random side-story of his rise to become the saviour of humanity... also uh why do we finally make an apocalyse era movie but John Connor is not the star, just to do this whatever plot twist with some Marcus dude.

poor John, the first 3 movies all set him up but then 4 inexplicably focuses away from him, 5 turns him into a crazy villain, and 6 kills him off and bins him in the first couple minutes. The saviour of humanity!
