Okay but I legitimately just had a discussion with my team where one guy complained about the game because it's just a remake split across multiple games, and when I said the story was different, he acted like he knew it the whole time and that they basically just "plagiarized" the characters and setting from the first game and they should have just called it FF7-2...

Though detractors who have played the game I'm sure would have more worthwhile things to say.

It wouldnt shock me if BotW hasnt held up imcredibly well, especially considering Elden ring has come out since then.

But it seems like some people just cant figure out how to have fun in a video game any more without the game telling them what fun is supposed to be with Ubisoft map icons.

Breath of the wild was awesome because I remember the first time I decided to climb a mountain I started freezing to death and I went oh of course I would. Duh I loved that it let you go out and just do stuff and interesting things would be around. I didnt need a reward for looking into a labyrinth, the fun was finding a big random labyrinth

That's a big part of it.

Aecioo likes tossing the "baby's first open world game" line out but... We've had open world games for at least 15 years before BotW. The accessibility of the map is part of what differentiates it from other games and makes it stand out.

And some people aren't into that, and that's fine, but moving about the world is something that a lot of fans enjoyed, myself included.

There's new defenses pulled out every time which is pretty fun. Han's post about progression last time was awesome.

I realize you're just being purposefully incendiary, but if you thought that was a "defense", then you should work on your reading comprehension.

I can guess the users that will be posting every time it's mentioned. Only other B8 lightning rod on that level is FF7 Remake.

BotW kept me all the way through getting all Korok seeds.

SMO didn't keep me through getting all moons.

I think Zoe is a better character to explore Spirit with. Canary is amazing though.

She's... it's hard to take her seriously. But Saoirse gets use out of her store - primarily, exploring her self-esteem as she models (with Pixie along for the ride). So she's a really fun character to spend time with and see at all times.

Ragdoll is hilarious and a mainstay for most of the campaign. I'm supposed to recruit him to look after some refugees soon and... Hopefully that turns out??

I, Spyder has been going through a crisis of faith since his visions were revealed to be a trap. Still, I like the idea that prophecy he's been given can be turned to our advantage - since it's prophecy and all. These magic adjacent folk on the periphery are always interesting to explore.

The difference is that Canary lives with Spirit and is a main supporting character to him. Aquazon hasn't quite filled the same role elsewhere.

Shiny Happy Aquazon is great - a real manipulator that goes in line with an early read of my own character.

Saoirse is kind of past that phase but I'm curious to see what will happen if her upcoming concert does get overshadowed by Kim. That will be no bueno

It's a good thing I'm not playing Fields this campaign because he never leaves Gotham.

I think O going undrafted is purely the biggest crime.

I almost included yellowjackets but it crossed year lines so I didn't.

Also S2 hasn't been as good.

Those all came out last year. Those all were great.
Even this year is off to a great start - Vox Machina S2 was great, and I've heard that Picard S3 is absolutely dynamite.

You would do well to stop saying "Rings of Power is emblematic of every single writer in the business" and maybe expand your horizons some. Particularly if you haven't seen Winning Time - you would absolutely adore it.

I didn't watch much TV then, and unless the writers' strike affects Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy then I don't care about now. Although, we did get Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog out of the last one... hmm...

Much as I love Dr. Horrible, I'd not want to see Whedon release a new project.

If NPH led the production of a sequel without Whedon's input, then I'd be a happy boy.

Kid Icarus would probably be pretty neat, though!

Was not expecting all the Zone of the Enders looking stuff in that trailer! I've never played an AC game but I was under the impression it had more grounded, heavy, slow mechs. Have I just been totally wrong or is this a major shift?

Originally, I'd say AC had mechs that were between MechWarrior and ZoE. As time went on, control got more refined and quicker.

I haven't played one of the games since 4, but I remember it getting more responsive.

Haven't watched this trailer yet either so maybe it's quite a change - I can't say yet. I think gradually changing is the right answer though.

Armored Core was one of my favorite series in the PS1/2 era. It was one of the series that really did mech combat well.
