2's environments look great from what I've seen but the characters put me off it an awful lot. It's not just the design either, the few cutscenes I've watched are simply... gross. I assume the ones I've seen are the absolute worst of it, and I know this discussion has been had many times and a bunch of people say it's worth pushing through the annoyances to enjoy a wonderful game, but it's difficult for me to want to pay full price for such a long video game when I may actively dislike the dialogue/characters >_>

More importantly, with all this Nopon talk it's worth giving a shout-out to Kino and Nene from Future Connected, who are both pretty great. And the Ponspectors of course!

You will not dislike the fourth party member.

I feel confident in that. Can't promise the second or fifth. Not going to guess on how you'll feel about the third.

XBC1 character designs are good to middling, but mostly average.

XBC2 has some great designs, some bad ones. It's a little more over the place.

XBC2 has the better soundtrack.

The funny thing is that XC2 took all of the fetch quests from the first game and tied them into the upgrade system for blades but nobody ever really brings that up. I mean XC2 had shitty fetch quests too but you literally can't power up your blades without going to a certain area and killing 10 flopnoofs or whatever. Maybe it's not so offensive when the quest reward is giving your blade 5% more damage on an attack versus 5 potions.

Most of the upgrades are things that happen incidentally, and you're really only using like 3 blades per character.

5 flopnoofs (never goes beyond 5 iirc) is not that big of a deal, and it typically becomes "while you're playing the game normally, have this blade be the second step when doing blade combos".

Mostly because the conversation had developed with more people piping in.

People are free to not play a game for whatever reasons they want, but if someone is saying something that has questionable veracity, to the point of turning other people off (as we have seen in this topic), then it deserves to be clarified.

I dont care that plum didn't beat the game because he chose to burn himself out on side quests that he didn't enjoy when he didn't need to. I don't care much for plum as a gamer at all - he cheats at co-op board games. But when the narrative being spun is that the game is a slog because it's only boring side quests, then I can't help but want to set the record straight.

If the point being made is "the side quests aren't particularly important to do, but some are linked to optional city builder. Ergo, if you want to complete all the stuff in the game, there will be tedium", then the conversation is different.

I am very much a completionist saying not to do it.

Again - you could have just not done the part you didn't like.

Basing your purchase decision on the lack of presence of optional content is silly.

I think the other thing that bothered me is general bad tactics. Like, they wanted their western shootout, but Mandalorian has managed to do those without feeling like they're gimping the characters. I mean, Mandalorian literally had an episode where they were under siege, and it felt a lot more like the characters wanted to survive it then.

FE Heroes 3H seemed to have Conquest mode so I'm still very interested.

Also, Mythra's design is wayyyy better when you equip her with the extra thing that gives her a black undershirt and leggings (same as the design used in smash).

Mandalorian is one of the first properties in awhile that actually feels like vintage Star Wars.

Mandalorian really knows how to lean into the mood of the franchise. It's evocative in the same way that the original films were. BoBF didn't really manage to hit that same feeling a lot of the time.

Best moment of the episode was Grogu and Din reuniting, but the finale to the duel with Cad was really solid as well. Everything that happened in this episode, the only parts I really didn't care for were the same as the earlier season - the mods really take me out of it.

But we've all been on gfaqs for years, we know how bad mods can be.

I will disappoint everyone and say I settled on Star Wars: Rebels.
