Azur Lane? Yes. Think Kancolle, but as a side-scrolling shooter with mild bullet hell elements, a marriage mechanic, and no permadeath. (You also get to play as the Allies instead of the Japanese, which eliminates a little of the awkwardness.) The shipgirls are cute, but, unfortunately, my phone cannot run the game at full speed, so I get hit a lot. I had to uninstall it after giving it a try.

I stand corrected on the point of sohei, which goes to show how long it has been since I last looked at the 1st Edition Oriental Adventures (which I got used, and which is falling apart). And I remember the L5R tabletop game being really popular back when I was at university (... fifteen years ago), but this topic is the first time I have seen it mentioned since then.

I never did play the L5R CCG, but I still have several of the Rokugan sourcebooks for 3rd Edition D&D. I seem to recall rolling up a Lion Clan samurai for a game that never started, but I know for certain that I played a sohei for one campaign, though that class only exists in Oriental Adventures, not Rokugan itself, IIRC.

I know Fantasy Flight Games mostly for their 3rd Edition works (e.g. Mythic Races). Quality third-party expansions for the game, IMO, and it is good to hear that they still exist.

Managed to acquire one of the playtest rulebooks for Pathfinder 2nd Edition, thanks to my local game shop saving one for me, but I have yet to look at it in depth. Was more interested in the softcover Bestiary 5 that I picked up on the same trip.

Also acquired a stack of PDFs for the One Dice System from the Bundle of Holding (i.e. Drive Thru RPG). Seems simple enough to play, and it reminds me of Fate Core. Also looked at QAGS (Quick Ass Game System), but nothing in that interested me immediately.

As far as anime advertising light novels and manga goes, I can see the issue. Streaming anime is cheap. Buying manga is not, especially in the U.S. (One volume of manga costs more than a whole month of a streaming service, e.g. Crunchyroll.)

I have not made it to Season 3 as of yet, but this sounds like what happens when a manga becomes a lot more popular than its creator ever expected, and (s)he has to keep coming up with new material long after (s)he wanted the manga to originally end.

Meanwhile: Well, the missus has discovered what doujinshi are, much to my amusement. (She likes the ones she has found for FGO and Persona 5.)

Speaking of isekai, following Grimgar, I decided to revisit Re: Zero. And then I realized that Flora and Felicia from Fire Emblem Fates are based on Rem and Ram. *facepalm* Still interesting to watch, considering where it fits in the genre. (Subaru is one of the absolute worst protags in any genre, IMO, but a lot of people feel that way about him.)

That feel when a dev you like (Aldorlea Games, in this case) does not put their best games on Steam. *grumbles* Then again, they have not put anything on Steam since late last year, though they are still releasing stuff through their own web site.

The trick is that the first four episodes are all for character building, and the show picks up after that. Not every story can hit the ground running, after all.

Revisiting Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash. High-quality isekai, and a good alternative to what I have been watching as of late (e.g. How Not To Summon A Demon Lord). Realistic to the point of being depressing (in a good way), and it has a unique watercolor look, especially in its backgrounds, that I would never have expected from a paint-by-numbers shitshow studio like A-1 Pictures.

I did finish Legend of Dragoon, and it was worth it, IMO. That is one game I would love to see remastered, though I would also like to see it re-localized. The translation is ... pretty flat.

No. They all have the thing where you hit a button to generate a code that you use to transfer your data to another device. My phone gave no indication that anything at all was wrong. It just randomly died. So I had no compelling reason to have a generated code on standby. *shakes head* My mistake.

This has been a whole month full of bad karma. Still recovering from my back injury, my daughter is fresh from surgery (Friday), and then my smartphone died this morning without explanation. (Mercifully, it still had two months left on the warranty, so a replacement is incoming.) The only mobage for which I did not lose my data is Fire Emblem Heroes. So ... FGO is gone. Memoria Freese is gone. SMT Liberation Dx2 is gone. Star Ocean: Anamnesis is gone. A whole lot of time and effort is gone. FML.

I might try to restart Memoria Freese, but I get the feeling I am going to have to be content with playing FEH on my tablet for a little while.

Shining Song Starnova (i.e. Idolm@ster, but lewd) is available. Kickstarter backers (myself included) already have the GOG and Denpasoft keys, Steam to follow once Steam makes up its mind about its content filters. Same developer as the Sunrider VNs, so it ought to be at least passable fun.

The Shin Megami Tensei mobage (Liberation Dx2) is also a thing now. Not a game for low-end phones; my LG can barely manage its lowest settings.
