I care. I'm going on a backpacking trip in July and do not want to slow down my Scouts while they keep waiting on my weak fatarse to catch up.

I'm 33 years old now. Getting married in my mid 20's woulda felt too early in my opinion. Your average college graduate might still be establishing themselves in their career around that age. Establishing one's career and working toward being financially secure are more important in my opinion. That's not to say marriage would interfere with this but rather it'll be another level of concern to deal with.

I prefer Garak, Quark, and Odo. But Dukat is pretty great, and among my all time favorites.

I think two of my favorite episodes are House of Quark and The Magnificent Ferengi.

Depends on the location and type of toilet. At home or most public restrooms, no. When out camping, using a latrine, cat hole, usually yes.

I hope Ironman/Stark doesn't take too much attention from Spider-Man. At the same time, I can't help but feel that's the only reason he's in this movie. On another note, is Vulture that big of a villain or the producers figure we've seen enough of the Green Goblin?

Even as a cat lover, personally I'm fine with the consumption of cats and dogs. One can't expect all cultures to think the same. Some cultures don't eat beef or pork. Are we gonna bother listening to them if they try to stop us? However torturing said animals though I feel is wrong across the board. If you're gonna eat em, just give em a merciful death and be done with it.

a typical burglar is absolutely not going to try and f***ing kill you just so he can sell your TV.

I'd imagine most common thieves do not intend to kill anyone but there's no guaranteed some fight won't happen either. You can't expect everyone willing to take that chance with a home intruder. That said intruders are ONLY there to steal something.

Maybe the father and son gave the buglers a verbal warning, maybe they gave a warning shot, or maybe they open fire without anything said. All we have are the words of the father and son at this point.

If the buglers still didn't take the threat of the guns seriously what do you expect the father and son to do then? Just let them take their belongings and walk out? Should they, the father and son, risk injuries in an attempt to incapacitate the buglers instead of shooting them?

Has it been confirmed that they were burglars? If someone's brazen enough to break into someone's home when they're not away, that's not necessarily the reason they're there.

If they were indeed armed it's kinda hard to think they were anything but buglers. Exactly who are they trying to defend against if they're the intruders?

Golden Road posted...
Either way, this isn't something to celebrate. It's not wrong that he shot them, but it's not like "yay, they totes deserved to die!" It's unfortunate, but who knows how it might have ended if this guy didn't shoot them.

Though I'll agree it is unfortunate some lives were lost and some parent(s) out there now have a child to bury one must understand that certain actions have dire consequences and those teenagers failed to understand that.

They may have been young and foolish but that does not excuse them. We can't always go about using the reasoning "kids will be kids". They need to learn to take personal responsibility and unfortunately this lack of understanding costed them their lives. Others have done similar mistakes before with drunk driving or accidental shooting of a friend or family member.

EDIT: At the same time I can't help but wonder what would lead these teenagers to do this. Did they think it'll be easy money or were simply desperate for the cash.

I just sat there in my nice suit, eating chicken wings, chillin' with my best friend.

I assume in most cases folks go as a group to simply have fun together and for safety. Whether or not some folks want that one-on-one dance might vary between individuals. I was actually concern when my sister went to her prom with a coworker because the decision to go with her coworker was a last minute thing. Fortunately she and her friends went as a group so there wasn't too much concerns of fowl play.

Honestly I feel the fond memories you make with your friends is all that matters at the end. My friends and I have experienced numerous mishaps in our lives and when looking back at them they were pretty stupid mistakes but we lived through them and laugh at ourselves now for what happened.

You didn't go because you lacked friends

Please clarify by what you meant by friends then because I clearly stated I do have friends and among my closest high school friends, all of whom I still hang out with 15+ years later, only one attended the prom. The rest of us didn't have any interest. How did you misinterpret that as me having no friends? We are as close to the stereotypical geeks/nerds as possible. Us not attending the prom should be no surprise.

JTekashiro posted...
You literally said you couldn't have found anybody to go with you even if you wanted to (which you did but it emboldens your pride to say "I never wanted to go"). It is always the same reasons with people.

How did you interpret that from what I stated? I reinforced my lack of interest in attending these school dances when I added that my close friends and I passed on the middle school dance and went back to our science class. If a girl had asked me out I woulda gone but that didn't happen and I didn't care for asking anyone either.

Yes I stated if I had tried I probably wouldn't have found anyone but I didn't try because I didn't care. Please don't assume that I didn't care nor try because I didn't believe I'll find anyone. Are you suggesting I'm lying about not having interest in the prom because I didn't want to try and be rejected? Why is it difficult to accept not everyone have the same social desires as others?

And honestly, this is the internet, pride means nothing. I've admitted on multiple occasions that I was wrong to another PotD and that I'm still at virgin at 33 years old and have never gone on a date. Some folks would sooner sleep with a prostitute than be a virgin for this long. Maybe at one point I cared but that has long been extinguished and even then I would not stoop to that low of a level to lose it to a prostitute.

JTekashiro posted...
My advice to you, go live life. Go out there, get dirty and make mistakes.

At 33 years old certain mistakes now can be dangerous and permanent. I've already made some major mistakes that are hurting me financially and limiting my career growth.

JTekashiro posted...
No matter how cool you are somebody will always think you're a loser anyway.

If that is true, and I'm sure it is with the various jealous comments I see across the internet, there's no point in trying to impress everyone. I should just live my life how I want and if I'm happy that's all that matters. There's no need to prove others, especially strangers, that they're wrong. Plus isn't being happy the best way to prove someone wrong? Or was it the best way of getting revenge? I forgot....Though I guess that happiness can also be a delusion....

Granted I'm trying to defend my stance against you so I guess to some degree I do care but it's more so of me wanting to understand why you automatically assume something of someone just because they haven't done certain things in their lives. We could go back and forth with you making assumptions and me trying to debunk them. At the end of the day I'm just asking you, stop assuming. Plus this is the internet, nothing I say about my personal life can be proven nor debunked. One can only take it at face value.

I wouldn't participate. If I actually cared enough to attend the prom I would only do so with someone I find agreeable. Though honestly I figure some folks attend the prom as a group and simply have a fun time together instead of worrying about finding that one person to go with you.

sounds like a good way to equalize the playing field and get kids to interact with different people in their school

Is this actually a good thing though or would this actually make a difference? Majority of high school students lose contacts with their classmates after graduating. Even with social medias nowadays how many actually keep in touch with former classmates that they weren't close friends with?

JTekashiro posted...
Why didn't you go to prom? My money says "no date and no friends."

In my case you would lose said bet as I simply had no interest in attending the prom. No one bothered to approach me nor did I approach anyone. If I actually wanted to attend the prom I doubt I coulda find anyone wanting to go with me.

Several of my close friends didn't go either. Hell, during middle school, some of us went back to our science class instead of getting the freebie period to attend the 8th grade dance. We actually enjoyed the science class whereas the dance was bloody boring for us.
