Not to suggest this as an excuse but with multiple social medias and entertainment leaning more to the left, from a business perspective why aren't anyone taking advantage of the situation and offer those on the right a platform or service to rival that of Facebook, Twitter, etc.? Could said service potentially obtain enough users to make them equally big or its simply near impossible with the foothold the existing services have at the moment?

Pretty much anybody is legally allowed to make a citizen's arrest, employee or not.

Thank you for the insight. That would be even tougher on the employees then if the company allow and expects it.

Zeus posted...
Policy or not, most male managers I met when I worked retail, food service, etc, did try to stop thieves.

The fellow Scout leader said they've been held at gunpoint before. With a wife and three children, I'm sure he just let the shoplifters have their way and let the insurance cover the loss. He also encourage/remind his employees to do the same to avoid any issues. It's just not worth it in my opinion to save whatever money was stolen.

Zeus posted...
In fact, employees have sometimes ignored those provisions, stopped a thief, handed him over the cops, and the thief either plead out or was convicted for the time, but the employee was *still* fired for violating policy.

I do feel that sucks for the employee but with the potential fallout from an employee getting injured or dying, I can understand why companies prefer losing the products/money.

If anything, might this just make shoplifters more aggressive in trying to get away? I'd hate for employees to feel obligated to stop someone from leaving especially since they're not legally allowed to detain anyone.

A fellow Scout leader is a manager at Party City and said they're not allowed to detain or stop anyone. Best they can do is report it to the police and warn/ban the person. If said person comes back, best they can do is call the police again even if said person repeatedly shoplift.

Not to suggest anything but in situations where said officers know they are in harms way but have no clear line-of-fire or there's risk of hurting someone else (i.e. target in a crowd or bystanders behind) what is the "correct" choice to make?

Take one for the team? Do their best to not let it escalate that far? Take the shot? I don't want the officer(s) getting hurt but good grief it doesn't look like a pretty situation for them either.

A mix of the second, third, and fourth choice. Multiple backups at different times for redundancy, save scumming, and to see different ending/choice results.

Could it just be age? Not an expect but I'd imagine overtime the muscles with the vocal cord just aren't the same anymore that and like any muscle, needs to be worked at regularly.

On another note, I never got into Foo Fighters music but I do enjoy rock. Any particular album to get my feet wet with?

Indeed. Normally prices are hardcover > paperback > mass market paperback, right? I first thought the paperback prices were outliers from one vendor charging 5-8x the normal price but several others are doing the same. What is the title of this book by chance?

I don't believe that it's what you do, but what you take away from it and how you relive that while talking about it.

Good point. I'm not a good story teller so even if what I did was fun and exciting at the time, I have trouble retelling so might end up making it sound boring. If I focus on specific highlights and memorable moments, I'd imagine it'll sound more interesting and exciting even if one doesn't share the same interest.

To me it smacks of desperation since, when they aren't on trips, they're so bored that they watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians and other reality tv programs instead of doing other things like taking up a hobby or getting involved in the community

Funny you mention that. As much as I play games or watch Netflix, I would feel my time is even more wasted if I didn't volunteer with my Boy Scouts troop. Of course I enjoy mentoring these Scouts and seeing them grow but it also gives me that satisfying feeling that I'm doing something useful for others and it helps break up the monotonic pace of going to work and back home.

Not directly related but in my first year after graduating and working it was almost depressing when I realize each day was more or less going to be the same task. I enjoy the work but at least with school each day was a little different. Of course I can't say I miss keeping up with homework, exams, projects, etc.

Interesting, I didn't expect that many to feel their lives sound boring when talking about it with others. I can understand our lives sound boring if our interest doesn't coincide but figure in most cases people only do new and interesting stuff only during certain times of the year. Granted not everyone travels when on vacation. One coworker is spending two weeks for her daughter's Quinceanera and just chilling at home.

I have one friend who travels frequently throughout the year so its always neat to hear about her adventures. Personally I don't have the time nor funds to travel that often but am always interested in hearing of the adventures of others. Hell, I don't do deep sea fishing but always like to hear other Scout parents talk about their trips and what fishes they caught.

In my view I enjoy what I do so it's not a big deal.

That's how I see it as well. I am enjoying Life and am having fun with what I do but if our interests do not coincide with one another, I do feel like I'm boring them out with some of our conversations.

Fortunately majority of my friends are civil engineers so talking about work is usually interesting except my projects tend to be small fries compare to the ones my friends handle so to some degree I feel even then I still seem boring. Between talking about a million dollar project versus the $1,000-5,000 projects that I handle, even if my friends only handle a small part of that million dollar project, it's hard to make mine sound interesting.

Personally whenever I meet up with friends who I haven't seen in months, I often end up mentioning the same ol thing "Life, work, Boy Scouts, video games, and gaining weight". With friends who are book readers I would also talk about any new books that I read and about any books they have read. Not many play video games so I rarely talk about that.

In my case, all the "new and interesting" stuff I do tends to only be during the summer when I go camping with my Boy Scouts troop and backpacking and fishing with my mentor in the Sierras. Outside of the summer it really kinda is just "Life, work, Boy Scouts, video games, and gaining weight." so when, and this is a fault of my own, I talk about it doesn't seem that interesting as I'm almost a broken record at that point. After the summer is when I finally have something more substantial to talk about.

Does your life seems boring when you talk about it with others?

Comments are appreciated,

Thank you

Maybe not those exact numbers butt hat's how I tend to see it and in some cases the lawyer isn't even trying to prove his/her client is innocent but instead try and lessen the punishment.
