Yeah, of course Iron Man wasn't as popular as Spider-man with people on the street. Spider-man had a movie franchise to introduce him to a wider audience.
I think among fans of 'nerd culture', who know about more comic book characters than the ones who just appear in movies, Iron Man was a solid B tier. --- It's Reyn Time. |

They saw Guardians of the Galaxy make bank despite being a list of D-stringers, then thought they could do the same. Unfortunately, the superhero mania has died down, and most directors aren't James Gunn. Greenlighting movies based on Morbius and Madame Webb are the most egregious examples of this trend.
