Why? The filler that comes right after? That was probably the most egregiously bad filler arc, but that should only affect your perception of the story as a whole. Not that particular arc. I don't see why you would dislike it because of filler that came after it

Last year, Reese made it more about Iowa losing instead of LSU winning with the whole mocking thing. Celebrating is one thing, but I've never much cared when players mock/taunt other players after a win. Like why make it about them instead of celebrating with your team. Kinda screams small-dick energy and "You live in my head rent-free"

As for complaining to the refs, literally every NBA player has done it for decades, so I couldn't really care less about that

It's not substantially more. In Japan the sales went from ~336k week 1 to under 38k week 2. I don't know that we have international data, but there's zero reason to think FF16 is some evergreen title overseas while its sales dropped off a cliff (even by typical week 1 to week 2 standards) in Japan

Best case scenario, FF16 sold about the same as SMRPG. They can spin it however they want, but I bet that makes the higher ups at Square Enix feel pretty dumb. Particularly if they're changing their game design philosophy now, as this topic suggests

SMRPG is at like 3.1m or 3.2m sold as of Nintendo's last report. FFXVI was last reported at 3m shipped. And it was later reported that sales were below expectation and that they fell off a cliff after the first week
