If anyone was wondering, 29 grasp is as high as the "routine" upgrades in the arcana go; to get to 30 is a giant boost (29 requires 350 psyche, 30 requires 1000 psyche + two other extremely rare materials and 3x of each to boot). which is fair enough I guess, already feeling a bit overpowered at times (just finished another aspect of pan run with the daedalus special that fires your special directly ahead, heroic special attack, Coarse Grit to tank the 999 damage attack to only give 15, lol)

....dude this is ingeniously creative, damn, I never would've thought of that. I'm also putting off my "clear Hecate with no Arcana" run because I know it's going to be brutal, but maybe not so bad with Luckier Tooth and upgraded animal companion but yeah.

So that was my easy 2nd win and I got to final boss a few times since but keep dying on the 2nd form. Even knowing where to go to avoid the instant kill attack there is just too damn much going on in that screen, Hades 2nd form wasn't anywhere that bad. And the last time I swear he was pulling some shenanigans on me re: the instant kill attack, like he made it look like there were 2 safe spots, and i was standing in one and i guess it was a fakeout because i got blown away for one DD, and then lost my last because he attacked me and the attack moved me outside the safe zone just when the 999 hit?? totally b.s. but anyways, at least I'm consistently getting to that fight now and keeping it competitive when it seemed insurmountable a day ago.

However I am like, this close to just trying to get Coarse Grit every run to avoid that nonsense, lol.

^ lol, yeah... I mean we played the original game, you had to expect a 2nd phase! (though in my first time "beating" him I also wished there wasn't)

Can you get Hera in the Underworld? I've never seen her except on the surface.

I never had either but I tried equipping her keepsake and she showed up at the start & again latter in first region. Though again maybe that was driven by the keepsake, I also never got her boon in the underworld before now.

^ I imagine they're going to get a lot of feedback about it, if she only appeared once, maybe twice, that'd be fine. Any more than that and it is mad frustrating. I'd still say it's worth not dying on purpose since there's still resources you can obtain in that 4th area (or 3rd area if she tags you with it at the beginning of there) but yeah... probably quicker and more worth your time to bail.

For when it stops, I at least have the record now on when it happened for me. Nights 3, 5 through 8 and 10. And 4 and 9 were two nights I died before 3rd area so probably only reason I avoided her... wow. But ideally you dont get any after night 10 either.

Finally got my win at roughly my 20th run. Was close a few times before but every time I felt like I just had a build on life support and didn't feel confident at all.

This time I actually had something I was pleased with, and lo and behold, got the win with it.

Sister Blades with Pan Aspect is exactly the type of fight style I enjoy and the first time I tried it, it got me the win. Looking forward to upgrading it to be even better later :)

Friendship with axe ended, sister blades with pan aspect are my new best friend. I also just got my first win after 30 nights, and just like you I had never felt build confidence until that run. It helped that I got the exact combo that I needed - the ability to throw your cast, a couple of cast powerups, lots of special powerups and the pan aspect. Still not feeling confident in being able to win without the right series of dominos falling but still.

(Final boss spoilers) Since it all happened so fast I don't get what the attack was in Chronos's 2nd form that does 999 damage. I got hit by it twice but luckily still had 2 DDs active. I was trying to dash a lot so I dont know if it would've hit me more and I was lucky, or my innate dodge skill was invoked to avoid more of those, but I would've been so mad/depressed if I died to three 999 attacks over the course of the fight coming out of nowhere. Anybody pick up on where the attack comes from and if it's dodgeable and/or preventable? I mean it must be otherwise runs are impossible until you unlock DD arcana or only get hit one time w/ luckier tooth.

Just got this, it was the "after 4 encounters receive 50% hp" well of charon item after that last encounter.

Yeah your odds in the past were probably more "miss" than "hit", lol ;)

before today's round I had Madoka and Frieren as top 5 locks, no change on that (even if Frieren had a closer call today). DBZ trending towards lock status which feels a bit firmer after today. Not to say any of those three will win, it's definitely up in the air!!

oh yeah I had that once with the skulls I think, and I had either a legendary or duo that was the "bounces to more people & can also bounce to you". I wasn't even omega smashing them at that point, i remember just tapping regular attack right next to mobs of enemies in 4th region and breezing, lol... good times.

I choose priming boons more than I probably should, really need to have the rapid magic refresh boon to offset it.

I feel like I might end up really focusing with the axe because it's the closest to a "Shield"-type defence against projectiles with its special. Need to practice getting used to the cadence for the special and the swings. I got so damn close to beating that guardian that keeps beating me, gotta keep running it to get driftwood, damn...

Wands are complete trash and should never be used.

interested in seeing what they do with the aspects with that because yeah.... I do remember having one good run with them but it was just holding down attack and dashing around until magic runs out, wait a bit for magic refresh, repeat holding down attack. I think one run I had the invincibility hex so it worked out that I could hex when I was out of magic and the magic would be refreshed when the hex was done. Though "omega attack spam" is the same deal with the skulls too, I guess.

Daggers are the weapon I've used the least so far and I think they're overdue to get the "darkness" treatment, so maybe my next run. Not a fan of their special, though.

Actually that strikes me as Apollo-boon related, doesn't he have one where you get some bonus if you don't take damage? (bonus attack power maybe?) so "preserved hope" meaning you got through the encounter without taking damage?

oh right I'm on the verge of unlocking aspects so there's gotta be something there that's my fit... aspect of Chiron bow and aspect of Zeus shield from original game were my jam.

just unlocked my 3rd death defiance, so glad that resource wasn't locked behind a boss I can't beat

(I love my DD crutches... even though usual final region health is nowhere near where it'd be w/ the original game, and DD gave back 50% instead of 40% on top of that, but anyways... still nowhere competitive enough to win so more arcana grinding in my future)

also WOW FUCK ERIS. Memories of her ambushing me at region-openings are far gone, now it's the other thing. And the rubbish!!! I hate her in the game and I hate her on a meta level for the torment she's put me through lol.

Also Steam was so nice to tell me I've played it 24 hours, which minus the 2 hours I spent on Monday night - yeah that sounds about right. When that earlier post was saying this game had more content than original even though it's in Early Access, they were not kidding!!

The bag should define the locations for all the plants and seeds, even if you haven't obtained a copy of an item yet? Not sure if that was automatic or just by virtue of doing the Forgot-Me-Not option, I basically F-M-N everything I come across now, lol.

from seeds found in Chaos. Good news is I found a dirt pile in there on my 1st visit so it's not as rare as I'd fear it'd be (i.e. Hades 1 fish in Chaos realm) but maybe I just got lucky. Chaos also gave me a free seed but that didn't help since you need 2 plants for the incantation anyways. So yeah... start up a new run with the spade and cross your fingers I guess.

Edit: ok I just started up my game again and dug up that 1 free seed chaos gives you which I had planted, and it gave me 2 Thalamus's??? so maybe digging in the Chaos realm isn't necessary, I haven't noticed any bonus plants before this point but I haven't been paying that much attention I guess...

iirc the guardian definition was "long health bar with their name" so I would expect so?

Had to use the skulls again because they had the black aura. Theyre such trash, Hades 1 didnt have any weapons this bad.

just went through my first run with them, went better than I thought but I think i got lucky w/ my boons to help carry me too. I can see some appeal and special is like the shield special so that's neat. But yeah, the damage taken when I was unexpectedly 0/3 and running around look for them, not great...

Yeah it being a time-gating mechanic makes sense, but still it's funny to me to think I was proceeding too quickly because compared to the average Hades player I don't think I'm good? Especially with this game, I am getting hit constantly and feel like I'm struggling every random battle, let alone boss, just died to Oceanus boss again after losing defiances to Erebus miniboss and boss. Even in original Hades I struggled with anything that wasn't ranged, the bow and the shield/aspect of zeus were my go-to.

Agreed and I know this is early access so I trust they'll sort out the balancing. I know this is a small/dumb complaint, but it's pretty weaksauce to give you resource requirements that are unattainable, like I was carrying the pick hoping to get "bronze" for a bunch of runs. And then when you finally learn where you get bronze, or wool, or some plants, it... spoils location(s) you haven't been to yet? not a fan of that. Would've rather a "found in ??" instead personally. Only holding one tool also a serious pet peeve so I'm with you there (not reading either of those spoiler tags though), my last (failed) run I popped down to chaos a few times, one time had a fish, one had a mining deposit, and there I am w/ my friggin tablet of peace. brutal!!

I am a fan of being rewarded for spending money with Charon though, lol.
