Guess that explains it. The female cat was born on the streets and ran into my brother by chance. The male cat was born in a proper home and made more use of the big cat tower and the little dangly punching toy on it. He also regularly scratched things, while I never see the female cat scratch anything.

I wonder why the female cat isn't interested in any of the toys we got for her. She hardly ever goes up on the cat tower. We got a little Y-shaped tube thing for her to go in, but she's ignored that. We got a small fluffy floor cushion for her to sleep on, and she used it maybe once or twice. We once had this little bristly arch thing to rub against, and both cats ignored that (guess the male cat preferred a living human's touch).

Only thing she's ever played with is yarn balls and any dangly thing being moved around by a person.

Well, Tsushima's Iki Island expansion is definitely a noticeable bump in difficulty, which must be a really nasty surprise if you try to take it on in act two of the main game where it becomes accessible. They introduce two new enemy types. One is a dude who carries multiple weapon types and regularly switches them up, forcing you to keep changing your stance to keep up with him. And he has extra health on top of that. The other is a priest that sings a song that buffs the enemies around him, making them hit harder and attack faster. Like, I'm wearing tanky armor with health and defense boosting charms, and buffed enemies can still slice a huge chunk out of my health.

This is NOT something you should be taking on if you're only on act two. An endgame character is the only way to stand a fighting chance.

Nice, there's finally gonna be some modern ports of Red Dead Redemption, with Undead Nightmare attached. It's coming to Switch and PS4 on the 17th. Weird that Xbox doesn't get anything. Hopefully this won't be another GTA Definitive Trilogy disaster, but it's not being made by Grove Street Games, so that's already a good sign. Definitely wait and see. Still, RDR1 is one of my all-time favorite games, so if you don't have a PS360, the port should be worth getting.

Decided to get Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning since it was on sale for $10. Not gonna play it until I'm done replaying Tsushima. KoA has a real interesting story behind its creation. It was made by a former baseball player, funded by the state of Rhode Island, and failed to sell well enough to make its money back. The rights were bought by THQ, who not only ported it over to modern systems, but also made a new expansion nine years after the original release (kinda like how Borderlands 2 got an expansion seven years after release, minus the financial disaster).

It's supposed to be similar to Skyrim, hopefully minus any quests similar to the awful crimson nirnroot collecting. And that reminds me, there was supposed to be a promotion where anyone who had a baby born on Skyrim's release and named them Dovahkiin would get free Bethesda games for life. Someone actually did it. Considering Bethesda has only made two games since then, it seems like a crap deal, especially since one of them was Fallout 76, and I'm not feeling too confident that Starfield's 1000+ plus planets will be too compelling, either. Hopefully that includes their published games, since that's a way better lineup.

I wonder how Dovahkiin is doing, anyway. He should be heading into middle school soon. If he's anything like the fictional one, he's already the leader of every school club, owns the closest thing he can to legendary kid-friendly weapons, fights by sneaking around and firing rocks out of a slingshot, and has a hoard of valuable trinkets stashed away at home.

Our neighbor made us a loaf of banana bread and a big-ass bowl of chicken salad. Between that and her paying me to take out her trash and recycling, it's almost like I have a grandma again.

Got to reunite with a bunch of family members at the funeral. I hadn't seem some of these people since my aunt's funeral in 2010. I can't believe how much I missed hearing those kind Southern accents. Only the women had them for some reason. Then again, accents were never my strong suit. I've heard of an American accent, but to my ears, they don't have an accent. They've always sounded straightforward with no vocal quirks.

Went to the viewing. Saw a bunch of family members I hadn't seen in over a decade (my aunt's funeral in 2010). Had a real nice talk with a cousin. Been a good long while since I had an actual stimulating conversation.

Well, my playthrough of Hardspace: Shipbreaker came to a somewhat anticlimactic end thanks to a bug. I did complete the final mission and see the ending cutscene, but the usual report of your daily fees afterward isn't responding to the button to close it. There's definitely more after that, since there's also a personal ship someone gives you that you can fix up by stealing replacement parts from your regular job. Guess I'm just gonna have to youtube the true ending.

It's trash day and the trash guys showed up, but the recycling guys are still nowhere to be seen. I think they're not showing up because they think they can't get in. One of the entrances to the parking lot is being redone with fresh concrete, so is barricaded temporarily. However, there's a second entrance right next to it about 20 feet away. Either they've got bad eyesight, or they're too lazy to make two extra turns. Do they think we're just barricaded in? That a whole community is just sitting back, not using their cars?

Our recycling got switched from being collected biweekly to weekly, and the recycling guys haven't shown up for two weeks. Ours is starting to pile up. Just another annoyance for the pile.

She's back home again. Nothing serious was found. She's gonna do a month-long juice fast on my dad's advice. That'll make her body consume unnecessary solids, including the cause of the problem. I'd love for this to finally be resolved. This issue first started acting up what seemed like a couple weeks after the male cat passed, so I was dealing with a nasty combination of grief and irritation.

My mom's in the hospital. It's nothing life-threatening, but it's something older women have to deal with. She's been trying to self-medicate for it the past few months and seemed to have it under control, but today, it just acted up to a point where she couldn't handle it herself. I'm sure she'll be fine, but it's still another thing to weigh on me.

On top of this, we have a funeral for a distant uncle coming up that'll no doubt involve wearing a suit in 90-degree July weather. What a month.

Fuck, we just went through a real rager of a storm! Near hurricane-level rains, nasty hail, strong winds, and lightning. Our power actually got knocked out for a moment. Standing on the porch to look at things, I was startled by an extremely close bolt of lightning that couldn't have been more than a few blocks away.

...and after some calm, the rain is picking up again. Time for round two?

A year or so ago, I was following Friday Night Funkin' and watching various videos of fan mods. While I lost interest in it, I find myself regularly coming back to the soundtrack for the Vs. Cassette Girl mod since it's just so damn good, especially CG's incredibly smooth voice. I'm not entirely sure what its genre is called, but I think city pop is close enough (one of the songs is called City Funk). Also, a month ago, the creator/composer revealed they're remastering the soundtrack.

Headphones are very highly recommended.

I wonder what other series would benefit from a partnership with Square. Them working with Disney resulted in Kingdom Hearts (and a Gordian Knot of a plot, but that's a different story), and working with Nintendo resulted in Mario RPG. I think they should work with Capcom and make another Megaman X JRPG like Command Mission. CM wasn't exactly revolutionary, but it was competently made. Give it more depth and NG+ and you've got something great. Maybe even make it an action RPG similar to the recent Final Fantasies so it plays more like its home series, including field navigation.

Ryan George is a great comedian. He makes all these skits where he plays every character in front of a green screen. He also has a second channel where he does hypothetical pitch meetings for various movies, and if you think a certain current movie might be crap, watching its pitch meeting can save you a lot of time and entertain you at the same time.

Something I'd definitely recommend for a new Tsushima player is to look up the locations of the shrines that give you the charms of Inari and Okuninushi.

Inari essentially doubles the amount of low-end pickups you get, including supplies (the central currency) and predator skins to make ammo capacity upgrades with. Okuninushi lets you regenerate health when not in combat, which can be a godsend for an inexperienced player. Both of these are found on the first part of the island after the intro.

Also, the game would be a lot easier to enjoy if the 2020s hadn't been giving my mental health a beatdown. Last time I played, John and our male cat were still alive, and the virus was in a relatively early stage. I'm really tired of living through major historical events.

Decided to give Ghost of Tsushima another playthrough since I got tired of going back and forth from Shipbreaker and Resident Evil. Still just as gorgeous as ever, especially on PS5. Wish I could have done NG+ and the Iki Island expansion, but the controls had slipped my mind, so I'm just starting anew.

It's still the far better game when compared to Misery Simulator. Sorry, I mean Last of Us II. Say, did its multiplayer ever come out?

Arzette is also bringing back the original voice actors for CD-i Link and Zelda. I wonder what their characters will be? I'm hoping they'll be the main character's parents/the king and queen who will exchange cheesy banter with each other.

I think I know why the RE2 and 3 remakes have "ace the hardest difficulty" unlock rewards. They've got a convenient little "rewards unlock" DLC for $5.

Wonder if they'll make one for RE4. It's way bigger than those two, but still has the same reward unlock conditions. Its hard modes are even harder to beat since there's some sections where you're forced to use different weapons that aren't as good as your normal guns. The mine cart section in particular was obnoxious, since you're forced to use the Red9, which is the least accurate handgun. Even if you have your own Red9 that's upgraded to be better, you're still forced to use Luis' inferior preset one.

That awesome pizza place across from us shut down. Whoever decided they should stop selling subs was a fucking moron. Back in the day, it was a frequent easy dinner choice, and they were really good subs. It's being replaced by another one called Luna Pizza. Looks like they offer more than the other place, even burgers. I'm glad for that, since there's no other burger places in walking distance, and another delivery restaurant that used to make burgers stopped.
