You are aware right that many on death row have been found innocent? Part of that 30 years is so we can be more sure we got the right person in custody on death row. Check out the innocence project, people act like everyone on death row 100% deserves it.

A good sized chunk of people on death row are there because they don't have proper legal counsel and/or they get railroaded into it. Some are also stupid as shit and don't even ask for legal counsel when a officer is questioning them about a murder.

This has been talked about a few times, but it's looking like if they do happen, it won't happen before the deadline currently in effect, unless things change really quickly.

I really don't think more stimulus checks are going to help, they need to use the money in a more direct way in my opinion, perhaps to directly pay peoples rent, get them food, etc. The shear amount of money being used for the stimulus checks is insane, and a small portion of that could probably help just those people who are struggling to pay rent and get food until things get better. Don't get me wrong, I'd love an extra $1200 or whatever, but I'd rather see the people who really need it get the money.

Pretty hard to make sure only people that need the money get it. I mean I guess they could setup some sort of government office people could go to temporarily for assistance but we already have stuff like Welfare which is meant to do that.

Yea, but the game specifically alludes to many things which happened to black people in America (EX: the back of the bus thing). Like I said, it's not subtle in the slightest. More accurately it tries to be subtle and hide it's allegory behind the paper-thin illusion of being androids without bothering to explore what that really means.

Let's take the very first bit for example. Right at the start of the game we are presented with a hostage situation in which the player character needs to talk down a robot who has taken a child hostage. The 'ideal' ending has the player succeeding in this and talking the robot down, convincing him to trust you, before the police guns the robot down once the child is safe. This makes no sense if this was about what it means to be human or anything else. If the robot really was a robot, even one starting to attain sentience, then the whole scene should have been presented differently. Instead it's designed specifically to only make sense if you make the connection that the robot is already akin to a human and it is the prejudice of the humans that is the problem especially since the robot is portrayed in a wholly sympathetic, or at least relatable, light. This is made especially clear when the one person he chose to spare was the child whom had treated him like a human and a friend. A move that only makes sense if the robot is already sentient.

Had they wanted to handle this scene better and make it clear it was about the measure of a person instead of a hamfisted racism allegory they should have picked a robot that couldn't be mistaken for human acting legitimately on the fritz and the whole problem being that the developing free will was conflicting with its preprogrammed instructions. It didn't want to kill the family, it was a legitimate accident, but now it also doesn't want to die but assumes violence is the only deterrent. It would be even better if this was not shown and was only uncovered later in the story. That way the player wouldn't immediately realize the whole plot from the getgo.

Two games that had similar things did this better. In Neir your first contact with the robots is a bought of explicitly hostile conflict with a blatantly dangerous foe. Even afterwards the enemies will be robots as well so even if you somehow accepted that they were sentient from the getgo you'll remain on-guard around them. This way the player is actively encouraged to treat them as enemies and a danger and the contemplation as to if they are sentient beings can be put off until the assumption that they are not is sufficiently strong to challenge the notion.

Likewise in Megaman the robots that rebel are hostile and need to be dealt with, free will or not. However robot life is never devalued in the series and it's shown that devaluing it is what leads to such conflicts as the robot masters are frequently discarded robots whom have outlived their usefulness. We even see this eventually come to a head with the decision to not revive humanity in legends 2 (I think that was the one) because doing so would mean destroying synthetic life.

Even in Mass Effect we spend the first game battling the Geth. We know that the geth are dangerous beings who drove the quarians off their homeworld and remain occasional enemies throughout the franchise. However we also meet not only a Geth who is our ally but ED-I; both of whom are sentient. We can easily see the harm that synthetic life can do via the Geth and reapers, but at no point is it suggested that it's because they're synthetic. In fact the quarians assumption that there would be a geth uprising is what lead to the whole problem in the first place.

If you really think about it the message of DBH simply doesn't make sense on any level. Most people would be over the moon to have a robot friend. Even if they didn't treat them the same as a living being they CERTAINLY wouldn't treat them like slaves unless they were the sort of person whom would also treat humans like slaves anyways. Likewise most humans are well aware that things like racism and slavery is wrong, especially in America where the narrative is practically blared through loudspeakers. So a game which deals with such a thing has no choice but to be a played out and predictable in it's story and message. It's like listening to a story in Sunday School. No matter what happens you know the story will somehow relate back to the Bible and Jesus and try to deliver a moral in some way even before it begins.

I think you need to understand that no matter how they are treated they would be not seen as human until they started thinking on their own+feeling and even then some would still see them as just a machine. It's like if I start abusing my vacuum cleaner no one would say shit if I did that I could literally treat it like dirt and do whatever I want to it. The cops won't be showing up to my door demanding justice for what i did to my vacuum cleaner.

Go is one of the easiest games to ever learn, mastering it is super hard, and takes an extreme amount of effort but learning the rules umm..

In todays world repairing something is usually far more expensive than just buying a new one. You can't beat the stupidly cheap low rates they pay their workers and how fast they produce 1 Watch or 1 Iphone or something.

Now with a minor problem maybe repairing it is no big deal and still feasibly financially. I just can't even imagine how much time, and effort it takes to repair a broken watch so many small parts.

Whether or not you value the sentimental reasons is irrelevant, I mean not everyone cares about this stuff but it probably means more to your mother.

So unless she is completely foolish with money and thought she was getting a great deal repairing the watch for $380 when a similar one costs about $100ish roughly. It was likely partly done for the sentimental reasons, this is not quite as big of a deal as say a ring passed down in the family for generations, but that would be a similar case in some aspects.

Claiming well it's just androids are black people is completely missing the point of the game.

Rey's biggest problem is she is a Mary Sue, but hate to say it but in the world of Force users nearly all the super powerful ones can do force shit easily. Luke didn't get a ton of training to become a powerful Jedi either. Think of it like Lebron James vs. a guy that studies basketball every waking moment from age 5 to age 25, LBJ will still be likely way better than average joe schmo that spends every waking moment trying to study basketball.

That's sort of the thing. In the first movie Luke tried to do Jedi stuff and failed and it wasn't until the end where he did stuff with the force; which amounted to either targeting with the force or changing the missiles direction with the force, at Ghost-Bi-wan's insistence. In ESB he struggles to pull his lightsaber to him and, while he's improved over the years of practice, he's clearly self-taught. It's not until he trains with Yoda, which is a decent chunk of the movie, that he really grows as a Jedi and he still has plenty of shortcomings even then. He loses to Vader and even loses his hand doing so. It's not until the third movie, a full two years of training with Yoda and practicing and everything else, that he can finally hold his own against Vader.

So yea... Saying 'Luke didn't get a ton of training' doesn't really answer anything because he fights and acts just like that. Instead of Rei doing stuff like pulling off Mind Tricks with little to no training at all.

I mean we have seen people use the force with 0 training though, they talk about how Anakin can only pilot pod racers because of the force. That no normal human has ever been able to drive a pod racer, and Anakin is the first one ever. Keep in mind this is a small child that has no clue about what the force is how to harness it. Anakin also seems to use the force to pilot a ship despite haphazardly a bit and help achieve victory in Phantom Menace.

I also think Rey had a lot of survival training because she was put onto a shit hole of a planet with no parents or guardians, and we don't know if anyone ever took care of her. Now this may not be force training but Luke was raised in a far better environment. Luke was given 3 meals a day and had his Aunt+Uncle who clearly cared about him. Meanwhile Rey had to bust her ass just to eat every day, and learn to defend herself.

I feel like this is the real problem. It's not so much that people hate Rey, as much as it is that they hate the poorly-written movies she's in, and she's not really all that interesting character in her own right, so she becomes the target. She's effectively become the living avatar for people's disgust with the sequel trilogy as a whole.

It's the same way that a lot of the dislike and disgust with the prequel trilogy (but especially The Phantom Menace) crystallizes into "Jar-Jar is terrible! He's completely ruined the entire movie!" Yes, he's bad, but a lot of the pure hate against him is just misdirected hate over how terrible The Phantom Menace is as a whole. We could probably say that the pure venomous hate that Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen tend to get stems from the same sort of impulse.

It's a quirk of human psychology that we always look for villains to blame when things go wrong. We LOVE scapegoats, because it's always easier to blame a single person or group rather than trying to deconstruct systemic flaws and complex interactions.

If Rey was a more interesting character, people would probably transfer their dislike for the sequels to someone else (probably Finn), but because she's kind of bland, she makes a perfect target.

This is the thing people forget when they try and use the "Well, Luke was kind of boring too!" defense for Rey. The difference being, the original films were actually GOOD, and they also had Han Solo to distract us all from whatever flaws were there because he was being awesome enough for everyone.

Jar Jar goes out of his way to be annoying though, I mean if you cut him out of that movie entirely it probably gets a good bit better. He is a pointless character meant to sell toys to kids and make kids laugh, he's like an Ewok but cranked up to 11.

If you see when these allegations take place nearly all of them are post 2014. Ron Jeremy hasn't made a porn film since the early 2000's. This isn't some girl claiming rape when Ron fucks her on camera for money.

It also seems unlikely that Ron is convincing women to have sex so he can put them in a film when he also isn't making porn films either. So acting like this is casting couch shit, and the girls agree at the time then call it rape after makes no sense.

Daniel Radcliffe is a pretty damn talented actor, now I have no clue how well he played Harry vs. in the books but he is a talented actor overall.

It's kind of funny that Kingdom Hearts released less than a year after FFX and had much better voice acting for the time imo. But that was most likely due to Disney's involvement.

I mean the game does use most of the actual voices for everything so not that surprising. So when you run into Simba they use the actual voice actor, and yes Disney has a lot more connections in the world of English voice acting, since they have been hiring people to do voice work in their movies for decades.

Does this stuff go bad after a period of time? I thought most hard alcohols either got better with age or they stay the same unless we are talking a ridiculous length of time.

Try to push through it; the game gets better, I promise. And I say that as someone who mutes that scene every single time. It doesn't matter that the scene is "supposed" to be bad; that doesn't make it less bad.

Post-Blitzball, the game generally gets better, though I do think that X's primary appeal comes from its combat more than anything else.

The Japanese version of the scene is worse, imo.

That is irrelevant though, even if that scene is worse it's only a few minutes of the entire game. Most people don't like Tidus because of his whiny and self entitled nature that comes through readily with his voice actor in English.

One scene could be hypothetically worse but Tidus himself could be better overall in the Japanese voices world. This coming from someone that watches nearly all anime dubbed. It is funny that for a time Square seemed to love having an annoying main protagonist though, people hated Tidus, then we get the MMO and right after that we get Vaan another universally loathed main protagonists.

Probably a case where Japanese voices make the game much better. English voice acting in Japanese games has gotten better over time but FF X was an early entry in that world and it suffers for it.

If Tidus was less annoying I bet his character would come off much better even with the silly scene above.

Yeah like others said making a TV series out of it at the time just wouldn't work. Maybe these days with proven hits like BB and GoT, but not back then.

Well even BB was a more feasible show, Harry Potter is a tremendous amount of money on special effects meanwhile in BB you just need talented actors and a few large set pieces in certain episodes.

GoT is the one that proved it was possible, with the huge amount of money HBO threw at that show.

When the movies came out making them into a TV series was unthinkable especially with the scale they wanted on screen.

Now with things like Game of Thrones being a reality you can do it, it's just very time consuming and expensive. I hear the Lord of the Rings Amazon show will have a $100-150 million budget per season making it one of the most expensive shows ever made.

Anyways we may get it down the line either way, they constantly want to reboot and remake things so when these movies get say 10-15 years older they may be looking at a newer version of them in some form of streaming.

Outer Worlds is a great game it could have used a bit more polish to make it even better but it does a great job at world building and most of the characters are good.

Eventually once you get a couple very powerful ones I assume you just ignore the rest and only worry about rezzing those guys. This is especially true since he can do it during battle so if he has 4 of them and 2 die he can just rez them again.

Doctor's have been wearing them for decades in surgery procedures. I'm sure if they did nothing there they would have stopped years ago. I assume this is mostly a similar case, wearing a mask to help prevent the potential virus from coming out when breathing.

I also will point out even in states where it's not the law to wear one if a store forces people to wear them or not shop there that is well within their rights. Similar to a store requiring shirts and shoes or they will not serve the person in question.

I mean when you factor in the time, travel and effort to go to a place order the food wait for it etc... Even if you are paying say $5 for delivery it's only a few bucks more expensive than traveling and that is if you value your time spent as $0.

Now in some cases you can have a reason to be in that area anyways so that cuts down on the travel costs, but that is not always the case especially if you just randomly decide you want something like Taco Bell or a Pizza.

Someone who similarly had a long history of frivolous lawsuits ended up being charged with fraud because of that. While frivolous litigation isn't a crime by itself (it should be, considering how malicious it is), it's easy to connect it to something that is.

You realize most judges just throw these out the second they step into a court room right? If a lawsuit is 100% frivilous it literally goes nowhere since most judges will find it completely ridiculous the second they see it.

It seems like you think every lawsuit is handled exactly the same and the judges hands are tied and he must treat it like a very serious matter.

Into the mind of how to get people to play your game. It's just a constant operant conditioning machine where nobody wins besides Chris Wilson (and I guess Tencent now as they're the only other people who own stock in the company).

If you look at pre-Bestiary content and post-Bestary content you will see pre-Tencent and post-Tencent PoE, and how the game has changed for the worse.

*I have over 3000 hours in Path of Exile, probably my most played game ever.

I think that is more you are bored of the game and blame Tencent for everything, how many games can keep interest for anywhere close to 3k hours. The core gameplay is exactly the same you still can't buy power Tencent hasn't made buyers get better drops or have better gear/skills. Call me when Tencent makes a bunch of new content then locks it behind a $29.99 paywall. I still think the game is great and it's easily one of the best Diablo style games ever made.

Every complaint lobbied at most F2P MMO's is pretty much not present in PoE.

I also will point out from the speech he gives they were seeing massive player retention issues early on in PoE, so they had to re-design the way they released content to help that. No game wants to lose tons of players over time, and in the first few years of PoE they were.

It's basically a giant "fuck you" to the community. People have been wanting a Pokemon MMO or MOBA for years, and we end up getting mobile trash. Even go on the Pokemon board and search for Pokemon MMO or Pokemon MOBA and you will see suggestions miles better than this will ever be.

Also the general hatred towards Tencent which is one of the least liked companies in the west, probably the least liked in gaming. Even suggestions that GF could be bought out by Tencent in the future.

Tencent is behind Path of Exile and it's one of the greatest Free games the world has ever seen.
