You get depressingly low combat experience in the first generation of FE4 due to enemies just not being that high level in general, the only exception are the bandits who actually get all the way up to level 30 and a few bosses (who don't even give extra experience for being bosses), it makes ranked runs interesting since gen 1 experience always feels like you must be bad for doing so poorly, then gen 2 comes around and you cap almost everyone with minimal effort.

There are two hard stopping points in the Arena that are a sticking point for most characters: the Myrmidon and the Wind Mage.

You're going to notice a recurring trend where these enemy types (and Generals) are constant arena walls, especially the myrmidons

When you check a weapon's stats there's a little star and a number by it, which shows the number of enemies you've killed with that specific weapon. When it hits 50, the weapon will give the Critical skill to anyone using it, and every kill beyond 50 will add +1 crit rate up to 100 kills giving +50.

I'm not sure it's possible to miss the Silver Sword, unless you beat the chapter really fast.

It should be possible, but you'd have to try for it. The NPC you get it from will always walk towards you and talk on your turn so to avoid him you either have to go super fast or go in circles a bit to lead him away since you have more move than him. Or keep Sigurd surrounded on all sides by friends at all times so there's never a tile to talk to him from.

Sacred Stones is probably my favourite of the GBA games, with the main reason for it being that it just doesn't have notably awful parts. Binding Blade has chapter 14 and a lot of bosses (and half the Sacae route on hard), Blazing Blade has a few really dull defense maps and the snow/rain gimmicks that pop up here and there. Nothing in FE8 makes me think "oh god not this map"

Swordmaster gets +30 crit in Binding Blade, so the typical strategy for dealing with bosses is to promote Rutger at level 10 and let him go nuts with the Killing Edge (Armorslayer for the chapter 8 boss). Berserker also gets +30 crit but good luck hitting anything with high avoid with an axe.

FE6 bosses are notoriously frustrating to deal with. They tend to be durable and fast and thrones/gates give a lot of avoid in a game with low hit rates on weapons, meaning you are basically forced into sitting around waiting for the RNG to work out. On hard mode you have bosses that you're lucky to even get to 70 displayed hit on (hell, one where even breaking 50 is somewhat rare)

Also I'll be contrary and say Wendy is awful but Sophia is fine. She joins insanely underleveled but since she uses magic she can still kill things, so you can spend two chapters feeding her insane amounts of EXP and turn her into a completely average unit with nothing wrong with her

The only thing she even has a 60% chance of hitting are mages who kill her in return if she misses

I wouldn't put Wendy among the worst units ever. I used her just fine in my lone FE6 playthrough! People just don't like her cause she doesn't fit the normal knight mold.

I mean, she dies in one round to most enemies on her join map while doing bad damage at low hit rates and it doesn't get better from there without feeding her everything just to become the bare minimum of functional and she's in a game that sucks for knights in general and joins right before a stretch where she's at weapon triangle disadvantage against everything, and even when trained she literally never becomes anything other than a generic decent combat unit but with less move. If she's not among the worst units ever there's not really anyone that is unless you really narrow "worst units ever" down to like, 3 people or something.

The DS games use formulas for hit and avoid that make your stats have much less impact on the final hit rate than in other games in the series, so weapon hit stats and weapon rank bonuses are much more important. You can still end up with some accuracy issues on some of the less accurate weapons vs faster enemies, but if you don't play on higher difficulties you won't necessarily notice it as much (notably in FE12 the Wyrmslayer and Dragonpike tend to want some hit forged on them because a lot of their targets have high avoid, especially the Wyverns, and base 70 hit only goes so far). That said the RNG itself is effectively the same so you're not any more or less likely to miss attacks at any given displayed hit.

FE6 is the last game for a long time where swords aren't outright bad weapons, and it's in large part due to the fact that they're practically the only thing that can actually hit anything sometimes.

Enemy AI in the two games on DS prioritize doing damage above basically all else (they also essentially assume they will always crit on anyone they have a 2% chance to crit). With bow/magic units generally having lower defenses, they will tend to attract a lot of attacks because the AI doesn't really care about what you can or can't do to it in retaliation, they only care that they can do more damage than they could to anyone else.

Chapter 24 is pretty well known for easy it is to end it super quickly. Which is kind of nice because on H5 playing it out normally is brutal beyond belief, enemy manaketes in Shadow Dragon are flat out unfair on that difficulty (they can literally have more speed than the actual cap allows for)

Yeah, I love the RNG screw. I do FE Drafts with my friends and I usually draft Sain in FE7, who I think is more of a premium pick.

It hasn't worked out for me the last few drafts. For the record, his Speed is supposed to be around 22, his Defense is supposed to be around 16, and his Resistance is supposed to be around 9.

I mean, if you're not getting empty levels at practically every turn a 20/20 Sain (or 20/20 anyone in a good class, really) is still overkill for almost everything in the game

If you use the one Master Seal you have at this point on her, Dracoknight has exactly enough move to go from outside ballista range to right next to him in one turn, so you can do that to fly in and recruit him when you're ready.

The whole FE4/5 remake bundle thing has always been a popular fan theory, but I really doubt it will happen. A remake that features both would have to butcher the gameplay of one or both because they play *very* differently, and as much as I dislike FE5 it's still a full game, not something that would work very well as DLC (the point where its plot eventually joins up with the events of FE4 and then starts replacing them is 75% of the way through, way too long for DLC)

It would've been a lot better if you actually had a reason to use offensive techniks and spells on a regular basis instead of just spamming normal attacks and cure spells 99.9% of the time(with some buff spells thrown in of course). That was the biggest problem with the original version and TZA did absolutely nothing to address it.

If anything offensive spells are too good for much of the game. They absolutely wreck random encounters and unless you're doing various tricks to get strong weapons early they usually are equal or better in boss fights too. It's only in the fairly late game where strong weapons and their combo potential start to heavily pull ahead of offensive magic, and even then spells still have their uses (lot of the nastier encounters in the game are just swarms of regular enemies mobbing you, and a few spells clears them out quicker than comboing each one down individually)

American companies generally use a 10 count, Japanese ones use a 20 count. They both tend to delay starting the count a lot though. And AEW for a while was really bad about the ref counting to 3 or 4 then just kind of going quiet so the guys (well, mainly Moxley) can do random shit outside the ring for a few minutes. Whatever the count is the wrestlers should get told to actually take it seriously because it looks so dumb when you do the whole "omg he rolled into the ring at 9.5!" spot on the same show where guys are outside for 30 counts without a care in the world.

Cleric Faye is actually great, the two synergize really well together. She gets a couple of great spells you otherwise either don't get on Alm's route or don't get until quite late, and with spells costing HP her and Silque can fuel each other pretty much infinitely.

I don't know who the worst Jagen in the series is but I do actually wonder if any of them are so bad that they become dead weight.

FE11 Jagen kind of becomes dead weight eventually, but it takes an eternity (well, it's more he stops being worth deploying for a while, then randomly has a comeback for a map where you need every promoted flyer with C lances you can possibly get), FE12 Arran falls off relatively quickly. Radiant Dawn Sothe is pretty sad in part 4, though he's mostly not quite "dies to everything and does nothing to anything" levels of dead weight.

If you like 7 and 8 then you might as well play 6, it has some noticeable differences (enemies are fewer in number but stronger, maps are bigger, accuracy is worse across the board) but is still similar enough to likely appeal to someone who likes the other GBA games. 1-3 all have remakes that effectively replace them for anyone that isn't a huge enough fan of the series to want to try them for curiosity's sake. 4 is great (my favourite in the series and probably my favourite game of all time) but is very much its own thing and tends to be something people either love or hate. 5 has a very vocal fanbase but it kind of sucks, it has some cool ideas here and there but its map design is deeply flawed and undermines most of its theoretical good qualities.

The point isn't that Eminem never rapped about anything real or anything from his real life, since he obviously does do those things. It's that it isn't some sort of special quality of his because tons of rappers do so as well. It's akin to saying you like your favourite rock band because they have a guitarist, like yeah they do, but how is something everyone does a standout quality of theirs?

Shadow Dragon is a good game, just very bare bones unless you play on the higher difficulties where its new mechanics start to shine. Still has some problems even there (the first three chapters on H5 are widely hated for good reason), FE12 is basically just a better version of everything it does in gameplay where all of the good ideas Shadow Dragon had are better implemented on mostly better maps.
