Honestly, glad the creator came out and said it, though.

Don't really feel anger/disappointment towards them as, back in 2017, the idea that all the levels would be beaten was a laughable idea, and so the idea of using TAS/hacks to get impossible/near-impossible levels on the servers is more of a "so what" thing to me.

What a terrible mother.

What systems do you game on?

Pretty much the Switch nowadays. I got a backlog of games I have to get through that I own on the Switch. I need to get through Sonic Frontiers, A Hat in Time, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Octopath 2, Sparks of Hope... wish me luck on one day beating my entire backlog.

Don't really have motivation to play other consoles at the moment.

If cats could talk; it wouldn't matter if their testimony would hold up in court because that would mean they are intelligent beings on par with us, and we would definitely be enslaved pretty quickly. The real question is would our testimony hold up in the cat court.

Your favorite childhood memory?

Oh boy, you are basically asking me to pick my favorite child! I don't know if its my favorite for sure, but the first memory that seems to pop up when it comes to just overall "good days" was Pi Day 2014. I remember learning 628 digits of pi for this occasion, and something about that day just had overall pleasant vibes. My dad and I went to Pizza Hut and sat down to eat there, and while nothing special, the mood of the day really uplifted me.

Getting my Wii U Christmas 2012 was special to me as well as I really thought I wasn't getting it until the end (obviously besides the games of course) since the box for it was smaller than I thought it would be. Another one is when my mom randomly got me Super Paper Mario around the time it came out! I remember being cringe screaming around the house that she got me it.

My friends and I would play on this large dirt hill from construction when my neighborhood was still new at the time, and that was always a blast.

I just want to type tbh. Please ask me questions :(

I don't know; I actually think it's pretty good as someone who doesn't have nostalgia for it. Again, first few episodes were a little rough, but in a little bit of a charming way, but I think the cast actually did do a good job, especially Tiffany.

I just learned the movie is playing in theaters. Unfortunately, it's only subbed. Even if they released it dubbed, I'd imagine it would be the Netflix dub since the ADV dub isn't really something the creator likes due to the feeling of localization changes.

Plus, I feel like these type of movies probably draw in obnoxious theater audiences.

Was debating if I should watch the netflix dub since I heard the VA work was on a more technical level, better, and the script was closer to the source material. Heard it had poor localization work, though, and sounded more stiff as a whole, so I decided, screw it, I'm down bad for 90's dub work. The first few episodes had noticeable, ehhh, strange "performances" but I do think they all eventually settled into their roles, especially by the time Asuka came into the show. Speaking of which, I think Tiffany Grant was definitely the star of the dub and I would go so far as to say why the West took onto Asuka so highly compared to how Japan originally preferred other characters (although I hear even they now prefer Asuka over any character).

Overall great dub imo, and a show that left me self-reflecting, which is the mark of any show that I end up feeling strongly about.

Baseball has me a little down after the Dodgers offseason.

Feels like this is the worst the competitive spirit of the game has been in a long time after the way the Ohtani deal was structured.

I'm pretty sure this isn't even considered the hardest level made by this specific creator.

It is dumb as it's just not a good system.

Public accounting is a great example where 40 hours is, at least at the level I'm at, either more time than you need to get your tasks done for the non-busy time of the year, or it's an impossible dream during busy season when you are working 60+ hours a week.

Yet, during non-busy season, you are still expected to show 40 hours of work (funny how that works), which just results in a lot of goofing around.

Funny enough, someone other than chomp has beaten Trials of Death. Basically, they were able to recreate the level and beat it. It happened a few weeks ago.

Based on that... one could argue TTH is actually harder...

Trimming the Herbs is an interesting final level. Not particularly flashy/cool looking to play or watch yet definitely hard.

This level will end up being the one that becomes the main villain of all the video documentaries, though.

No offense, but I don't really think the original song oscar has as much weight as other oscars (especially when her song wasn't even the best song of that movie).

Tbh, I was under the impression that The Boy and the Heron was one of Miyazaki's more "eh" movies from a story perspective. The thing is, the Oscars does have a little bit of politics in play where, legacy + lack of wins can play a part in a movie winning.

I also don't really think the animated Oscar has nearly the same prestige/weight as the other awards.

Tbh, I feel it is pretty good. Early on, I could kinda tell, but as a whole, I think the VA did a great job.

Prison probably should be keeping him separated if he is that willing to kill. Don't get me wrong, child predators are horrible people, but prisoners have rights too that you can't just ignore. Additionally, imagine if one of these individuals ended up being falsely imprisoned.

Yet, all of us kids never had any troubles finding it tbh.

I really enjoyed Octopath. Was a great game, and I'm excited to play 2 when my time opens up a little bit.

Mario Party Superstars preferably as I recall Super Mario Party's online being kinda dumb with if disconnections happen.

Last I heard, it sold more than the OG in the same time frame. I didn't verify the source though.

This is what I got when I just googled its sales: "The game became one of the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 games, by selling over 3.5 million units within three days and over 7 million units by September 2023."

I think OG is currently at 15 million sales? But that's across it's entire lifetime with a ridiculous amount of ports. Not sure what it sold in just a few years.

Only problem is inflation and the rising costs of games. 7 mil should be good, but Square has been pretty bad about realistic expectations in the last decade.

Now, hopefully, the dev costs are cheaper with Rebirth and whatever this sequel will be considering they got the groundwork running with Remake, but it's up to Square to not let things get out of control budget wise.

Honestly, did Remake even sell as much as they were hoping it did with how expensive I'm sure these games have gotten? I remember seeing it not sell as much as I would think it would have with its legacy behind it.

RIP to a legendary creator. A man who, just by trying to create fun stories, gave the world something a little deeper than perhaps he intended.

He opened many to the world of animation and reminded adults that they didn't have to stop loving what they loved just because of the passage of time. I raise my hands to give him a little bit of my energy in the great beyond.

i bought that game, but havent even booted it up yet

I played it back on the GCN, but stopped playing probably around 5-6 hours in. Figured I would finally play the remaster while on my flight, but I need to take a break after losing a good hour of progress.

Pretty cool TC.

Right after getting the heat visors and getting clobbered in a narrow hallway.

Now back to the beginning of the research base area. It's so over... 2D Metroids just feel so snappy compared to Prime, but I suppose it is a 20+ year old game and was the first foray for Samus in 3d.

I'm going to go sit in solitude over my lack of skill now.

Oh yeah, movement is critical.

my general idea for how Im approaching this is to implement basic movement, get height and distances set, then use that to build out a basic level (what Im working on now). Then Im going to work on refining movement with things like adjusting acceleration and speed, floatiness, etc

I think that's actually a great approach. It's probably what I think Nintendo does super well over any other platforming series. Mario games, at least 64, Sunshine, and Odyssey, have incredible depth to the movement mechanics. At the same time, you can beat any of those games with just the most basic jumping; the games, even at their hardest, don't really make you use it.

It makes it where it almost feels like you have two different games; you play it the first time just doing basic things because that's all the game asks of you, but the incredible hidden depth of these games allow you to really test out the movement by performing incredible skips and tricks, even without glitches that open up the game in a way you didn't know possible. The best part is this depth isn't really hard to access as a new player either once you get the hang of all the mechanics of the game.

I feel like other series either have pretty basic movement (Galaxy included; it's tricks are more centered around abusing the gravity of the worlds than the depth of the movement itself) that don't really allow you to do crazy things or the games require you to do very hard things, which means there is usually a specific way you have to go about beating it.

I don't think that approach is bad; I love games like Galaxy, but while it's the atmosphere and level design of Galaxy that helps it; I think a game like Mario Odyssey is just really fun to goof around and do nothing in for an hour just fiddling around with jumps and speed tech.

I think saying "yellow" just shows that you are an interesting fella that people want to talk to. Any other cool openings I can use on the phone; looking to up my social status.

This is awesome mate! I speedran Odyssey and Mario 64 and for the former, I would argue I was actually pretty great at it at one point too! If you get to the stage where you just want people to give their general opinions on how the movement itself feels; I'd be happy to give my feedback as I love how platformers can really spice things up with movement. I would argue movement can make almost any level design good in the end.

TTYD is a great game and the complaints are overhyped. You are never guaranteed remakes, so I'm glad that I don't have to wait for the OG to be remade before TTYD can be. Don't get me wrong; the og getting remade would be cool too, but the TTYD is the most inaccessible Paper Mario game at the moment if you don't go the emulation route. OG is 100% available on the Switch as well and knowing N64 kiddos, they'll whine about any change anyway.
