the french people were offered terms that didn't include the total annihilation of the population to make room for germans to settle. hitler and the nazis hated the french because of the role the french played in ww1 and the terms of the versaille treaty but they didn't view the french as subhumans who must be exterminated. the russians had nothing to gain by surrendering, they were being annihilated through death marches and laboring to death or just outright mass murder.

if the germans had handled the early stages of barbarossa differently and not just annihilated the people of everywhere they conquered there may have been more russian appetite for surrender.
The only way practical way, in hindsight, that there would be a Soviet surrender is if the central political structure of the country collapsed due to, for instance, a coup. Something which came fairly close to happening specifically because Stalin was a wretched leader.

I agree. Stalin was a horrible military leader. But there's one important thing people are missing: his refusal to surrender even when they were getting crushed bad. I feel like any other person in that same leadership position would have surrendered after so many encirclements and defeats. To compare, France surrendered shortly after Paris was taken.
"Not surrendering" in an existential conflict of total war is really not that special. In fact, in terms of one's actual capacity to wage war, both the Japanese and Germans suffered far more losses than the Russians did before surrendering, and the Chinese suffered similar losses to the Russians without surrendering.

I believe the main reason why USSR defeated Germany, was because of USA contributions.
Land lease and constant bombing of Germany can not be overlooked.
No. The main reason the USSR defeated Germany was because they mobilized the entire state in an unprecedented effort to defeat the Germans. The lend lease from U.S. was just a step above insignificant compared to the massive native industrial output of the Soviets. Would the war have lasted longer if not for lend-lease? Possibly. Would the USSR still have won? Probably.

The Romans did not exist as an empire at the time of Mohammed.

There was the Byzantine Empire, it's successor.

The word "Byzantine Empire" is very much a modern construction. To the inhabitants contemporaries of the time they were the Roman Empire.

Did the Soviets only defeat Germany because of Stalin? Absolutely fucking not. Stalin is half the reason the Soviet situation was as dire as it was. He literally purged nearly every competent military officer in his country and was actively hostile towards lots of extremely critical military concepts for modern war fighting. If not for his intransigency throughout the 30s and most of 1940/41 then the Soviets would have fought a far more competent war (Or not been invaded in the first place, if we're to be honest.)

The conclusion to this arc is my favourite one piece arc ever and one of the best in anime.

Usopp losing it over the ship is very in character. There's a lot of hints dropped up to that point that show he loved that ship more than anyone. The main thing that's out of character (or at least a poor judgment call) is how luffy handled that argument.
It's out-of-character for Luffy but it's frankly more interesting characterization than what we get from him most of the time. If he showed his ruthless desire to become the Pirate King more often he'd be a lot more interesting. The only other time he gets serious in the series is the generic "Bad guy does a bad thing and it makes him mad".

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Just doing the input in training is one thing, but context can often make some of the inputs difficult to consistently pull off. For instance, it can be prohibitively difficult to be engaged in footsies with an aggressive character then pull off a DP input anti-air reaction against a sudden jump in. It's difficult for a reason--If it was easy and consistent then people would always DP a jump in rather than use their normal anti-air.

Another example is hit confirms and buffers. It is already difficult to confirm you have successfully started a combo after just one hit (In most situations), especially when you start with a light normal. Confirming you have a combo after your second hit (Let's say, Light Kick > Light Punch > Super) is still very difficult for most players to pull off successfully because the confirm window is usually something like 12-16 frames AND you have to motion input your super correctly during a 7-9 frame span. Even with shortcuts, most players cannot get anywhere near 100% on light confirm super combos because of this.

Charge inputs get especially weird because you need to be very proactive about generating charge during unconventional actions--For instance, down charging your super while doing a back jump in order to potentially land and punish an aggressive opponent with Flash Kick. The faster and more consistently you do it the more options become available to you.

This is an interesting take.

Especially since he was preaching about peace and charity, there was no reason to believe that he was intending to harm anyone.
Yeah, at the end of the day it's charisma and the power of personality. We are acutely aware in the modern era the power that Cults of Personality can have over a population--Enough, at least, to move mountains literally. Look at Pope John Paul, Donald Trump, Joel Osteen, Putin, Mao Zedong, ect. I'm sure there were plenty of delusional people back in the day, as there are now, claiming to know the truth of God and the nature of reality. Very few of them were charismatic and convincing enough to sway the minds of man, however.

I'm pretty sure TC is referring to stuff that actually happened, not the made up stuff that religious texts come up with to justify their beliefs.

I hope I don't get moderated for the controversial belief that Muhammed did not actually teleport a mountain, but who knows.

QCF QCF is kind of important balance wise because the extra time it takes to input is part of the balancing of the move (Unless you're playing on hitbox lmao). It's why I can consistently time up a Dragon Punch anti-air as part of my zoning game but NOT my Super as Sakura.

Chemically, it doesn't make a lot of sense for activated charcoal to be able to penetrate into the enamel and and remove stains as:

  1. Activated charcoal is a solid that tends to clump in comparatively large particles that would struggle to get anything but the most surface stains.
  2. Activated charcoal does little to chemically break down organic molecules, and more or less works by "capturing" other molecules into it's porous structure. This would presumably mean it would be less effective at removing staining particles that are more chemically bonded to the surface of the tooth.
  3. It's such a large and relatively hard particle that it produces a lot more abrasive action on the surface of the tooth, eroding away the enamel if used frequently.

Just use a bleaching agent that can penetrate into every nook and cranny and chemically break up the staining molecules and flush them out of the enamel or dentin.

I was having tons of fun with warzone on the old map. I was playing duos with a friend damn near every night.

New map came out, we both had it dropped by a month. It's awful.

I'm a little worried about the new map -- part of the problem with Caldera was how much of a fucking pain it was to get from point to point. The issue was having the giant peak right in the middle of the map. This meant that unless you were going parallel to the peak, you would likely be driving uphill. And because there were so few roads, you were easy pickings. But on the flipside, going offroad was damn near impossible due to the shitty handling of the vehicles, the driving uphill, and the loads of rocks/trees/stump obstacles that would bring you to a complete stop just for clipping them.

Judging by the screenshot of the map in the article, it looks like this "observatory" is just a second peak, which will lead to the same problem.

Flip side is, at least it seems to be desert, so hopefully there aren't too many obstacles just for trying to go offroad.

Besides that, I'm cautiously optimistic.
It sounds like they have improved the vehicle engine a fair amount as well, so with any luck actually driving in the variety of new vehicles won't feel so annoying.
