There are jets that shoot bullets that shred buildings and other structures faster than the main cannon of a tank ever could. None of this is true. Land based vehicles are far cheaper than any modern planes, are an absolute necessity for ground-force operations (Which are the backbone of any large-scale military operation) to protect infantry and hold positions, and are capable of providing far more concentrated fire-power in a specific hot zone for far longer than an attack aircraft. As well, the largest cannon afaik on any attack aircraft is the 105mm howitzers on AC-130s, which is still less direct firepower than the 120 or 130mm cannons on main battle tanks. No air-based 20 or 40 mm cannon will be able to deliver as disruptive and accurate firepower as a tank platoon. And just for reference, the U.S. military has about 8,000 M1 Abrams.
