Well that's a bummer seeing Quina's aegis counter glint+ finally get added to the lens shop in Japan after the game ended.

Probably because the game ended so abruptly when it was just starting with Crystal dungeons. It gives you shiny new Bahamut magicite and nothing new after that to use it on. We didn't even get the job based Crystal dungeons.

I think if it ended like a year ago it would have been easier to move on since everyone was bored with labyrinths and the game felt tedious and lost it's fun factor, but since we got a taste of Crystal dungeons it leaves us hungry for more.

Yeah, I still have that weird reminder in my head to do 3 dungeons for daily mythril and the daily, even though the game is gone.

Maybe it'll finally go away after a week or so.

To 500? Still feels weird not seeing the game on my screen anymore even though its been a week now.

I didn't mind the complexity outside of the 5 second wall (thank god those ended) and the short turn limits in the final phases. Plus bosses were boring if they were too vanilla like Nexus Silver Dragon and Thunder Gigas.

Major missed opportunity to do a 20 year anniversary character contest.

Anyway, thanks to everyone here for helping me when I started out! I definitely wasn't expecting to get so absorbed in the game when I loaded it back up last year after it had been sitting on my phone gathering dust for over half a decade.

Happy to help! In the end you completed the game way more than I did since I didn't sub30 some Dragonkings, half the nexus bosses and none of the Crystal Dungeons. Though a lot of my motivation was killed knowing the game was gonna end soon anyway so I just wanted to beat the last 4 bosses and be done with it.

Feel like the game peaked in the USB Era personally. That's when they started veering off straight power creep to upgrade and made the game about team compositions. Which was a great idea.

It was a good formula but eventually power creep has to happen. The problem is they didn't want the next level to straight obsolete the previous tier so they had to introduce gimmicky mechanics, and it worked for a while but the game collapsed under its own weight imo. It just became oppressive for new players to join.

USB era was like 3-4 years into the game so I don't think they were concerned about getting new players at that point, the established whales was already putting lots of money in to keep it substainable.

What really killed it was the labyrinths, everyone hates doing manual runs to try and get those 5/5/8 passives and it really wears on someone wasting hours trying to get, and constantly having to do it again and again when a new group comes out. Even with the QoL updates it's still a slog and not fun. Since that was the only updates the game was getting over a year besides a late Dragonking and Wodin people got bored of the game and quit. And by the time we finally got the Crystal Dungeons it was already decided that the game was set to end.

Adios FFRK. My final party was my Ultimecia party since I didn't really feel like doing anything else after that. I just did a story only record dungeon for the daily myhtril and did one last pull on the FF7-11 final banner and got dupe Shantotto and Tidus awakenings. What a way to go out huh?

Well it was fun... sorta. Lot of good and bad times... well mostly bad times due to frustrating bosses, bad rng, boring labyrinth grinding and Record Dungeons but still it had it's charm, I guess mostly the dopamine from beating those annoying bosses by planning months in advance was it's strong point.

Still annoyed Beowulf and Reis never made it into the game and probably won't even in Japan since FFT is getting screwed. Well c'est la vie.

There's plenty of naked X figures but only a handful of Third Armor X figures.

Bowser kidnaps Peach constantly which means presumably she can't put up a fight against him.

Why she keeps gets captured by him... I dunno. Miyamoto just wants to keep the story simple moreso that Peach can't fight back. You'd think after 3D World she'd stop getting captured since she proved she can fight back against Bowser and and his army.

Well since I nominated her I might as well put some defenses for her.

Peach is a lot stronger than she looks, while she's not as physically strong as DK or the Mario Bros. her strength is not to be underestimated, actually it probably will be given that she's a skinny girl but she does have superhuman strength way beyond normal humans.

She can lift up boulder enemies above her head and throw them with ease.

She Team Rocket'd Bowser just by smacking him with her parasol.

She can defeat metal clad minions of Smithy just by slapping them, and there's gorilla enemies that even look like DK that she can kill with her physical attacks alone. A normal human stands no chance against a gorilla but Peach can just slap these brutes away.

DK is definitely not going to shrug off her attacks if Bowser can't.

She's a lot more durable than she looks as well even without lazy shell. She tanks all sort of blades, beams, boulders, elemental magic, cannonballs and missiles ect in Mario RPG. I doubt DK would be able to one shot her consider what she endured fighting Smithy and Count Bleck's army as well as fighting Bowser directly in Super Princess Peach. If Bowser can't one shot her even as giant then no way DK can. And being able to heal herself is a cherry on top.

Peach is also almost as nimble as Mario and Luigi as shown in Mario 3D World, while she's not as fast as them DK has had trouble landing blows on Mario before just because of how agile he is, and what Peach lacks in speed she can make up by floating, or using a cat suit if that's allowed.

And Psych Bomb is another tip in her favor. Mario has beaten Donkey Kong with bombs before, why not Peach as well?

And the kicker is that Peach doesn't have to wait for DK to throw bombs, she can chuck them anytime she wants (as long as she has enough FP)

Though I think fight comes down more to how Peach feels since this is the same Peach that gets captured over and over again. Though if she does get agitated enough she's not afraid to scold the Mario Bros. to get out of her way.

Thanks, with physical BZ done I used my scrolls and anima lens to hone Fujin's awakening 2 and switched Mog for Quistis. Finally beat Ultimecia too! All bosses clear!

Even with Lion's dual this still took like 6 tries to beat him. Sucks it's a dualcast dual instead of a triple but she still gets sync1, sync1, HA with it. BUT MAN I'm glad I beat this damn dragon! I was starting to worry he was impossible without Tidus sync2.

Just need to beat Ultimecia and that's the closure of this fuck fest of a game!

I actually did manage to get enough mythril to do one more pull. There was a still quite a bit of realm dungeons left I haven't done. Last one for Lion Dual...

That will be cool seeing Eden's sprite considering we can barely see what it actually looks like in FF8. Also weird having Gilgamesh as both playable and a magicite. (though he was both playable and summonable in a Dissidia game.)

I got 50 myhtril so I made the last draw on FF11 in hopes of Lion dual, got 1/11 Arciela glint+.

To be honest it's more of the short time limits which is killing my joy of this game more than the new mechanics (though those suck too)

We're already dealing with bosses with 7+ million hp and huge damage reductions, having such a short time limit fucking sucks because it takes 15 or so real minutes to chew through that much HP only to get outstalled in the last phase and instant killed over and over again until you get lucky enough with dualcasts.

You can still use magicite for dreambreakers that have elemental synergy like 4, 8, 10, Tactics and Type-0. It's rough but doable.

I got Larsa's awakening 2 from the daily today, oof how bittersweet I finally get it when the game is less than a month from the end.

I nominate Princess Peach if she hasn't been done yet.

Invincibility powerups are usually banned in these fights, well unless Wario can cause Donkey Kong to fall into a bottomless pit which is possible with his earth shake punch as well.

Wario can also use Dr. Mario's Megavitamins to turn into Vampire Wario as well. Though yeah he could bring random animals with him, intentionally or unintentionally. He does have cockroaches crawl into his nose when he sleeps and get on his brain after all.

It says in the first post Wario is allowed to use his powers though.

If Donkey Kong can use his invincibility then Wario can use Vampire Wario which is also invincible unless DK can get him into light or water somehow.

I thought about it but doing the grind all over again (record, realm, magicite and ESPECIALLY labyrinths) seems like too much of a hassle.

Plus these recent bosses are just so tedious, I'm sick of doing 20 minute fights just to get out bulked and instant killed due to short turn limits. It's not fun anymore and having to do 15 more Bahamut Zeroes seems like enough to not wanna continue.

Plus Japan probably isn't gonna last much longer anyway.

Besides being the main character doesn't mean Donkey Kong automatically wins, K. Rool has kidnapped him twice (4 times if we count the Land games on Game Boy Color) and it took all 5 Kongs to take him down ( 7 if you count Candy distracting him and Funky) so I don't think Donkey has a canon 1-on-1 win on K. Rool anyway since Diddy helped him in DKC 1.

Wario's even better at throwing since he can angle his throws and chuck stuff harder than Mario can. He can catch DK's barrels and coconuts back at him (or eat them and charge a super waft that way)

I think Wario wins regardless. While DK packs more punch Wario is no slouch himself and is more durable than DK, and Wario can eat random stuff to recover energy like coconuts and barrels during the fight. Wario is also the smarter, or at least the more crafty of the two and is more willing to fight dirty than DK. And has more tools at his disposable like the hats from Wario Land 1/Virtual Boy and transformations from Land 2/3/4, the disguises from Master of Disguise.

Also fun fact in the original pitch for Donkey Kong Country Wario was going to be the main villain before they made King K. Rool and the plot was that Wario came from the future, turned Mario to stone with stolen technology and DK has to get the tech from Wario to turn Mario back.
