I think not lynching is a viable strategy unlike in most games, and I would much rather we do it because the majority of the benefits of the always-lynch meta aren't relevant. I still think we should lynch if we are fairly confident that someone is scum but voting for the least bad option is not something I'd want to do in this game. Again, more people being alive is beneficial to me and makes my wincon more likely to occur.

Yes but also we could just no lynch and achieve the same goal except we have Ben in the game who could help us achieve our win conditions, make good points and also be a person that is not us who dies at night. Keeping as many players in the game as possible is helpful because I and I assume everyone else loses if they die at night, so more players alive reduces the odds of it being you.

how exactly do you propose this and why? It requires very difficult tiebreaker rules to achieve a no lynch without voting for no lynch.

I think what they propose is that we vote no lynch at the end of the day if there isn't clear scum out there, while still trying to ensure that there is pressure on people and we are considering other options. Like someone else mentioned, this is a bit of a prisoner's dilemma situation and we do generally benefit from staying chill and not killing anyone unless we are confident they are scum.

It's probably something like codenames being required on the scum forum, I doubt that scum coming forward will actually happen.

After doing stupid mafia math, I've come up with an idea. Ben, your chances of winning go up with each player still alive, correct? Therefore, lynching someone who has an attainable win condition reduces your chances of winning quite a bit. Because of that, it would be beneficial to no-lynch when it does not appear that a specific lynch helps attain a goal, UNLESS you think they are likely scum (because that both meets your own backup win condition and helps several others, myself included). I personally benefit from both of those circumstances, the latter slightly more than the first due to it giving me a higher chance of being targeted at night, but still. Assuming you are one of the better players, I'm wondering how okay with following those guidelines you would be? I think it would give me and by extension, you, a greater chance to win, as well as directly giving you more opportunities to win.

That is the faction name. It's nothing to do with flavour text. In any game it is at least worthy of comment if someone is to say "I am VILLAGE Vanilla!" when every other townie is claiming TOWN Vanilla.

A couple of inconsistent families here. Fomantis is a really cute design and Lurantis is just okay. Chespin and Quilladin don't even look like they should be in anything related to Pokemon but somehow turn into Chesnaught which makes me forgive the line. Bellossom is incredibly boring, while Vileplume has one of the most memorable design inspirations yet is also so generic everywhere else. I want to like Sunflora but it is hot garbage to the point of being unusable in all settings. At least Roserade is great?

Yeah, assuming hes telling the truth (it has been too long for me to remember how Han plays) its definitely something to do with the act of being voted against, not actually being lynched. Which is a weird distinction, when you think about it.

Sidenote, I finally figured out whats so experimental about this game. I was really confused because I too was expecting everybody to be an independent survivor, none of this Independent TOWN stuff. But I get it now- its mafia without the group mentality.

One issue here - there is no Independent TOWN. It's just independent survivor. I'm thinking this is a slipped assumption that there is an opposite faction to Independent SCUM, because that would also explain the confusion over factions.

Also, interesting points on Ben. He can't really help me with my wincon, but he also isn't actively hurting me right now and frankly he is a good player so he's one of those I would most trust the judgement of. Basically the independent survivor claim of the independent survivor game in that he is probably always a safe lynch, but not likely the best one. Plus that seems a D1 copout and I would rather like to get some info from others.

I don't think there will be a jester and we should not consider it especially right now because A) it is incredibly bastard and is probably not in this game and B) it could become an overcentralising conversation and I would rather we didn't go down that route.

My win condition involves killing scum, which is a little disappointing. I didn't realize this game would have town/scum split.

I didn't think about it before we started, but it makes sense. The game doesn't really progress without night kills and we could probably go through the majority of people's win conditions one by one, in a reverse-survivor kinda thing

Also my extra win condition looks both difficult to win with and less fun if I play for it than just playing like vanilla town so I think that's what I'm going to do except without the stress that comes with being wrong.

Crobat is neat enough alone, but I also end up using it somehow in almost any playthrough, often unintentionally. I don't know how, but it always finds its way onto my team. I'm using it and Kingler in a themed challenge run right now, and I've warmed up to the latter a fair bit more too. Still liked it before though, even if I am not normally a fan of bland animal designs, it has a bit of charm.

Staraptor is the second best Pokemon, and once again nothing can convince me otherwise.

Fun fact: In Japan Polteageist is called Potdeath and I think that's a wonderful thing.

Sinistea is such a silly idea for a Pokmon and I love it. Lots of cool concepts here but I have only properly used Rotom, Shedinja and Dusknoir, and even then not for very long. All solid designs, just fall short on the personal attachment scale. I really wish there were more ghost types, especially early-game ones.

Fun fact 2: Both pokemon with two immunities to the same type are in this selection: Shedinja and Rotom Fan.

Legendaries in general are kinda meh considering they are always on the covers or have movies, special events or detailed lore about them. Gen 2 and 3 at least have good cover legendaries in the first iterations, but flying noodle monster, penis dragon and evil letters of the alphabet would not have been design choices I'd have made. Then again, there are many very good reasons I have never designed anything professionally ever.

Not very controversial opinion - the gen 1 (but also kinda later gens too) habit of making a Pokemon then making the Evo the same one, but with MORE OF IT JOINED ON!!! is super lame and lazy design and Dugtrio might be the worst example because there's not even a good excuse like them getting stuck together with magnets or forming a hydra or even having half decent design in the first place or something.

Slightly controversial opinion - Trubbish is meh but Garbodor is actually really good design. It is a hideous monstrosity that is somehow kinda cute and that is exactly what they were going for.

Really controversial opinion - Floatzel is the best Pokemon ever and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.

I enjoyed FtNW and would have saved it if I wasn't about 30 seconds too late, but it's also way too heavily flawed for me to back it over the things I do. Plus it got second a couple of years ago and I'm not bothered about trying to get it to win, since that's probably the best it'll ever do.

A group isn't just the popular culture among them. Generalizing them that way is no better than stereotyping a race for something that's common among that race. I'm not saying that it's not bad cop culture is not prevalent, and that not change is necessary. I'm saying you shouldn't assume the worst of any person based on the group they're in (minus obvious exceptions like the KKK).

One big difference is you don't choose your race, you do choose to be part of a corrupt institution (in this case the cops). Any good cop has already left or is a total rookie who still hasn't fully understood what their role is.
