Confirmation Bias is the tendency for people to only believe evidence that agrees with what they want to hear, and largely ignore evidence that doesn't agree with their assumptions.

So...it really doesn't matter with confirmation bias whether you present evidence or not. The people who are already convinced of the opposite conclusion will ignore your evidence. The people who already agree with the conclusion and don't need to see the evidence will pay close attention either way. It literally doesn't make a difference whether you show evidence or not when it comes to dealing with confirmation bias. Confirmation bias basically means people will believe whatever the f*** they want whether or not evidence they are shown confirms or denies their belief.

Baiscally, confirmation bias is a huge pain if you're actually trying to correct someone who's been convinced of incorrect information. I read an article recently about methods that have some degree of success at breaking through Confirmation Bias, let me see...here:

When you're that far gone, no facts will convince you of anything. BUT facts matter to people who are in the middle, on neither side at the time - and that is the vast majority of people. Facts have been gradually winning over more and more people to our side. That is why Brexit happened. That is why Trump won. And there's no going back anymore. Even if Trump was killed, enough people have woken up and seen the truth. It's only a matter of time now, and a world war is the only thing that can stop nationalism - and even then temporarily.

This is why we will eventually triumph - because we stand for the TRUTH.

We have problems here, no doubt about that. But as someone who lives in Sweden and have friends who live in these "dangerous" cities, I can say that it's still pretty safe here.

I'd hope it's safe most of the time. But the amount of incidents, increased rapes, etc. are alarming, to say the least. He says that this is not all of refugees, but also on 2nd and 3rd generation non-Europeans.

The Swedish democrats (a nationalistic right wing party especially for Swedish standards) is the political party that has seen the largest growth over the past 3-4 years if i recall, and are now tied for 2nd most popular political party in a country that has like 5-6 major parties. Nationalism is certainly growing there fwiw.

As someone who lives half an hour away from Sweden, no he wasn't. He had no idea what he was talking about, and people are merely trying to defend the inaccurate claims that come from that, which is why this is still a debate for whatever reason.

Sure, that last bit is correct as Zylo pointed out. Racism is not as big a thing in Sweden as here fortunately. But that doesn't mean they'd keep their mouths completely sealed.

As those of you who followed my playthrough topic know, I recently finished Final Fantasy X-2. Today, I have also completed my review. Here's the intro:

I’d always known that Final Fantasy X-2 was far from a jewel in Square’s crown, but I really liked Final Fantasy X and Yuna, so I thought “why not.” I’d also heard a job system was utilised, and in switching jobs the girls also switched flashy outfits, so that was bound to be fun. And, even though I didn’t get to use all the jobs available, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the battle system and everything around it. Featuring an ATB system where the bar would take longer or shorter to fill based on the skill used, it was a huge improvement over the plain turn-based system of Final Fantasy X. But sadly the costumes and the battle system were the game’s only real highlights. As outlined in my playthrough thread on the forum, the rest didn’t really deliver.

Mathematically these would not be equivalent at all. Let's say you have 10 7/10s.. a 70/100. Average? 70%

Case A) Troll comes in, adds a 1/10. Now you've got 71/110, or 64.5%

Case B) Fanboy comes in, adds a 10/10. Now you've got 80/110, or 72.7%


Whichever # you're closer to, the less you affect the average. If the baseline I used was 50% then yes you'd be right. In the actual case of being +90%... the affect is drastically minimized (while maximized on the reverse action). That's how averages work, anyone that's tracked their grades in a class would know this.

We usually have at least 2-3:1 ratio of fanboys to trolls. And 70 isn't average, 50 is.
