It's going to be weird to see it without news or a large portion of news.However, the focus will be on the many other hobbies we may have like TV, movies, anime, writing, music, etc. Political and social discourse will not be allowed in the new Off-Topic. Those types of discussions greatly added to the harsh and unwelcoming atmosphere of Off-Topic, which pushed many users away. The site is dead. There's suicides everywhere and a pretty good amount of flooding with no mods around. This is just sad. --- Believe. |

The admin and the mod staff on pretty much any site is generally idolized by the community. It was more of a reference to that. That said, I think this is especially true for gaf since the entire bubble, hugbox, echo chamber or whatever you want to call it relies on their work. And the users are very aware of that. I wasn't aware that the guy didn't do much. Mumei posted... I got canned twice! :) If you don't mind sharing now that it's over...why? --- Believe. |

A lot of users don't give a damn about those beliefs but force themselves into the closet, while others actually love the fact that the site is like that. People start rebelling when it turns out that the glorious leader has been shitting on all that. Those that were in the closet now realize that they shouldn't have done that to themselves in the first place, since dear leader is even worse. And those that actually believe in the system are mad at the false prophet for obvious reasons. So the downfall starts. First it's a couple bits of the user base bringing up the issue to everyone's attention, then the mods acting as law enforcement quitting to organize a coup, and finally the entirety of the user base rebels more and more. This is in a site that is completely reliant on both unpaid mods and the user base for content and cash flow. The site is its users. And it's losing a lot of users over this. He has some options but stopping the hemorrhage is the best option for now. The dude's probably consulting lawyers and trying to sell the thing for a few mil at this point. --- Believe. |
