Didn't this "mods quitting" thing already happen? I feel like this is isn't the first time I've heard this. People honestly think NeoGaf is going under because of this? What's stopping this guy from just getting a new staff and continuing as usual?

Everyone? Never. People have quit over the years here and there, but this is the entire staff save a couple of people. And he does not run his own site; he relies entirely on the moderation team to give him candidates to choose to join the team, and he wouldn't have the first clue which users he should pick to replace the moderators who have left. Even if he did manage to find his way to picking the right people, he has almost no involvement in the day-to-day process of creating moderation policy, so rather than joining an established team that works by consensus, they'd be working out their own system ad hoc until they get things straight.

I don't know why the forum is currently down. It could be that the servers are legitimately getting hammered worse than usual and can't keep up, though I wouldn't be surprised if the truth is that there's absolutely no moderation on the site right now, and he doesn't want to see topic after topic of people condemning his behavior.

XERD isn't right about much ("glorious leader"? that's a reach), but he's probably right that selling is his best option.

Yeah, I was exaggerating a bit on that bit. The admin and the mod staff on pretty much any site is generally idolized by the community. It was more of a reference to that. That said, I think this is especially true for gaf since the entire bubble, hugbox, echo chamber or whatever you want to call it relies on their work. And the users are very aware of that.

I wasn't aware that the guy didn't do much.

Only thing I sometimes visited that site for were the "post your gaming setup" threads. Some of their game rooms were reeeally slick.

Disliked the general discussion that I read otherwise, and also was never a fan of topics that ran for thousands of posts.

yeah, when ceej used to post here the topic was guaranteed to hit 500 but when allen posts people don't care that much. it's probably because 1) allen posts way more often and 2) allen didn't create this site.

99% of neogaf users are parodies of SJWs. You get banned for slightly disagreeing with them on any social issue.

I scanned a topic on CE. Man, neogaf is a site where if someone is accused of sexual assault, theyre automatically assumed guilty. Yet mods there are trying to cover this up. Lol.
