While I may not celebrate Christmas in the same way as I use to before my mother passed away, I would still very much like to wish you all a very merry Christmas or similar holiday that you celebrate at this time of year. I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable day.

P.S. Don't dwell on the dead mother thing too much. She passed away December 17, 2007, so it has been a few years since then and while things aren't as morose as back then, we don't hang up decorations or a tree like we use to when mom was alive. Anyway, this bit is going on too long.

Honestly, aside from the gift I gave myself and the one dad got me, I wasn't expecting any. I was pleasantly surprised that my friends all got me something. I was super shocked to get my gift from one friend and it was something that was way too expensive to be buying for me, but I greatly appreciated it and is now displayed in a spot for all to see cause I'm so happy with it.

Depends on what you mean by eating. My mother went months without solid food as her cancer and chemo treatments kept her from being able to keep down solid food and so was on a liquid diet of broths and water. Eventually the cancer had spread to the point that it was pressing on her intestines and stomach, which kept her from eating anything at all until she slipped into a coma and died from the cancer essentially crushing her lungs and heart due to it's spread and the weight pressing down on all her organs.

Police are trained to aim for center of mass. If you're in a situation where you have to fire at someone, it's just in the best interest of anyone other than the attacker to be sure that you are actually going to take the attacker down. Not to mention you can actually still kill someone with a shot to the leg or arm as well so you may as well just aim where you have the best shot of hitting them anyway

I suppose, I guess it's just me being hopefully naive that this could have been avoided. I dunno, it's just where I live police generally don't have to resort to shooting people unless they are dealing with a murderer who is attacking them. Then again I live in a place where basically everyone in town has a gun so I suppose being trigger happy is not something cops would want to be around here. That or people are just overall more friendly and cooperative, for the most part.

What I don't understand is the immediate "shoot to kill" mentality. Instead of shooting with the intent to kill, why not just shoot to incapacitate him. I'm sure a shot to the knee or foot or heck even a shot to the arm to cause him to drop the pipe would have been better options with less of a chance of killing the dude. I mean from what I could tell, the dude wasn't actually rushing the police or anything so they would have been able to get a proper aim at the legs or arms.

I dunno, both sides are in the wrong. My father is deaf and he knows well enough that when police are around to not do anything that could be interpreted as aggressive. Then again it all depends on if the deaf person had a proper education or not and since the government has cut back on a lot of deaf related programs and schooling over the years, it is possible that the person didn't know any better because he was never taught properly.

On the flip side the police should never have shot to kill. Unless the person had started to run (which does not seem to be the case) towards them, they didn't have shoot at all. They should have treated him like a drunk driver and administer electrical shock to get him to go down (unless cops kill uncooperative drunk drivers now). At the end of the day though, we don't have all the information so we don't know what really happened. Also, remember, cops aren't always in the right, don't forget that nurse from Utah who was arrested for actually following the law that the cops were trying to break.

I once tried to read The History of Mankind (or something similar to that title). Was over 1200 pages or so. I didn't get very far, not because it was a long book, but because it was just done in such an uninteresting and boring way that made it really hard to enjoy reading.

I can't even begin to tell you it's name. I think it was a MS-DOS game, but not sure on that. You played a character on the planet Mars and it was a sort of mix of platformer and puzzle solving. I think it was a monochrome game, though I also think it had a few different colors if a monitor was multi-colored.

Gosh, I wish I could remember the name. There was also another game that was a maze where you played as a smily face in a maze built from multicolored letters and various keyboard symbols. The earliest I can remember would be either Space Bats of Doom or Hocus Pocus.

EDIT: Ah, found it. It was called Monuments of Mars.
