Yesterday night's tea: rebrewed a cup of the yixing black tea. Was too weak, and not very enjoyable, only drank half of it. Made another pint of chamomile.

Today's tea: Two pints of chamomile. I sweetened one pint.

Chamomile is not tea. It's all herbs. There's no tea in it at all.
Just sayin'.

Just because your son has yet to exhibit adverse effects from that aspect of his upbringing in no way makes it right.

You're projecting your fears upon me and my son. I'm very confident in my parenting - he's an amazing kid. Do you have children of your own? You have no right to tell me what is right and wrong when it comes to me and my kid.

Aaantlion posted...
And a lot of drunk drivers are confident that they can drive. Just because you feel confident doesn't mean that you're capable and when there's a gulf between competence and capability you tend to run into problems. Personally, as much as I love horror movies, even I think it's fucked up to bring a 10 or 11 y/o into an R-rated horror movie. And whether or not he suffers lasting or temporary damage doesn't change the fact that it's irresponsible parenting.

Like I said, I'm confident in my parenting and my son's decision-making abilities. Comparing my skills to drunk driving is absurd. I'm not reckless. Once again, you're projecting your fears onto us. I'm not worried about it. My wife isn't worried about it. My boy isn't worried about it. ...and YOU certainly shouldn't be worried about it. Your fears are unfounded.

when I went to see IT Chapter 2, a woman escorted her son who looked like 11 or something. I thought it was kinda messed up to let him see that movie

That's NOT terrible parenting. I let my son play God of War III when he was a child. We watched the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre together, and other horror movies... he's an honor student in high school now, and has never been in trouble in his life.
The thing is that I talk to my son about what is right and what is wrong. ...what is real and what is fantasy. I scold him when he treats people with disrespect, and praise him when he shows compassion. I've never believed in censorship or treating kids like they're incapable of understanding mature content (to some degree).
Perhaps the parent you saw taking their kid to IT Chapter 2 was totally confident in their child and in their own parenting skills.

Pretty much this.

Her life will be pretty trashy anyways. Her name/face is out there for this horrible act, and she's now a convicted felon so living a normal life will pretty much be impossible.

By that definition, Murder She Wrote. Or if you want older show, maybe All in the Family. Granted, if your definition was just "classic tv" then either Twilight Zone, the 60s Batman (starring Adam West), I Dream of Jeannie, or Bewitched.

I know this is so messed up. But IF people do this... I want those guards to do what they are there to do. Protect that base from invading forces and, if needed, gun those people down.

The idea of the public thinking they can raid a military base and not have the full force of the guards is beyond stupid.

How dare the US taxpayers, the citizens of a "of the people, by the the people, for the people" country, want transparency from their people's government.

It's sickening you think they deserve death.

Although this is just another media circus, while bigger things go unnoticed.

It's about national security. If our military secrets get out, it gives other militaries a better chance of defeating us. So, yes, they deserve it.

If they can be stopped without lethal force, good. If not, that's their own fault. They knew full well what they were doing.

Way to over exaggerate. If if by some miracle they got in the base, none of them would be able to gain access to anything near secret.

Have you been on a base before?

Also, it's not like these people are foreign invaders. They're fellow Americans that have the right to know what's going on in their own country.
It's sick, the way some people disrespect and devalue human life.

No, they absolutely do not. Why do you think these facilities are secure in the first place? Why do you think information gets classified? Why do you think you need a clearance and need to know to access certain information. Being an American citizen does not make you trustworthy to safeguard information. Even if you do not INTEND to disclose information, you could EASILY do it accidentally. These laws exist for very good reasons, and they PROTECT human life from our ADVERSARIES.

Well, I never gave a crap about authority. Seems like you love it, though.

Depends. If someone is always getting harassed, death threats, rape threats and so on by said person I'd understand if they got blocked.

I would totally understand that, too. Nobody should put up with harassment.
What do these people do in real life, though? If they're in a crowd of people, and happen to find themselves next to someone they don't agree with, do they stick their hands over their ears and say, "I'm not listening!"?
It's easy to ignore people and block people we don't agree with. Why not rise to the challenge and try to find something in common with them? ...or just don't take what they have to say to heart?
I frequent a brewery near me, and once in awhile there are some real douche bags in there. Instead of turning the other way, I look at it as an exercise in human relations. I'll strike up a conversation and try to get along.
It's sad that most people choose the path of least resistance. Seems childish to me.
