but why even bother when I have an automated tool to do it for me? I wouldn't be responding to these post without an ignore list, but even so, anything to make it easier I will use.

Like when I go to Las Vegas. I love it there, but the street people can be awfully annoying. the fake monks, the strip club people, show salesman, the showgirls wanting photos, etc etc. If I had a tool to remove all of that from my experience, why wouldn't I use it? why would I insist on just self ignoring?

I was literally thinking just this. Why are people so proud of the fact that they have to ignore someone, usually because they cant handle opposing viewpoints.

My list has a small handful of people who were just too annoying to bear, the rest are people i've determined are trolling based off of how they post and not really what they post about. It's easy to blame my list on censoring alternative political views, since the majority of users are from 261(politics). but there are people who post political stuff I disagree with that aren't on it because they aren't trolling.

edit: and yes, the politics board is still readable. Not that I've done any research into the matter but i'd wager a small number of people control the majority of those accounts. oh well though, just a theory. and not like i care enough to get to the bottom of it.

Aw, why is Arv there? He's a silly guy! I like Ogurisama too.

I only have one user on PotD ignored. On the gaming boards though... phew!

No, they literally don't post anywhere outside of each other's topics. I'd unignore them if they did post elsewhere. But it was an easy way to clean the board without losing anything.

I only ignore people who never say anything worth a fuck and have an annoying gimmick. Shit like "FAKE NEWS stories WITH TITLES like THIS", ending every sentence with "ok?", always referring to yourself in the third person, and constantly talking about how your son does or doesn't think shit has enough action.

Yeah i don't have those guys on ignore but those are the exact kind of people an ignore list should be used for. You'd have to explain why somebody should subject themselves to those users posts and im not sure anybody can.

i feel like my friend knightoffire55 and i make quality posts and topics worthwhile of intellectual discussions

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand knight and Larry. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical posters head. There's also knights nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike knight & Larry truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in knights existential catchphrase "getting really drunk," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Knight & Larry tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kids

I've never felt any need to use a ignore list myself. Even less block folk too. It seems pointless and I don't like censorship so. I'm baffled why the TC has Koga on that list though but eh I can't say I care about peoples ignore lists.

I would totally understand that, too. Nobody should put up with harassment.
What do these people do in real life, though? If they're in a crowd of people, and happen to find themselves next to someone they don't agree with, do they stick their hands over their ears and say, "I'm not listening!"?
It's easy to ignore people and block people we don't agree with. Why not rise to the challenge and try to find something in common with them? ...or just don't take what they have to say to heart?
I frequent a brewery near me, and once in awhile there are some real douche bags in there. Instead of turning the other way, I look at it as an exercise in human relations. I'll strike up a conversation and try to get along.
It's sad that most people choose the path of least resistance. Seems childish to me.
