Eurovision is it's own thing.

I never listen to the songs outside of the competition, but within that context, there's plenty of fun to be had if you take it for what it is: a weird, hyper-camp, completely over the top, bonkers spectacular.

They're not guaranteed to lose money. They may start attracting more over 30s as a result.

I've seen nightclubs that run events for older customers be extremely successful. They often have more money to spend for one thing.

Always strikes me as odd that people have (rightly) a deep distrust of police and the authorities, which then evaporates as soon as the 'scumbag' sets foot in a courtroom and their 'evil, scheming' lawyer . . . does their job.

Most of the problems come from spot betting on events within games. In football/soccer, that's things like number of yellow cards or the time of the first corner kick. And it's almost always the players doing it, not the officials.

No, what I got from this topic is people seemingly trying to say that rich people suffer MORE in some ways, or that they should be seen just as sympathetically as a poor person. No one should have to struggle with mental health issues (as someone who has been dominated with them for almost all of their whole life, I know that well), but there is literally nothing that would make me feel more sorry for a rich person with mental health struggles than a poor person with them.

I don't know anything about what VAs are paid, but I certainly agree they should be paid fairly for their work.

Medical care should be given free at the point of delivery on the basis of need. No other consideration.

It's a disgrace that people have to do this for medical care in the world's richest country.

I honestly don't know. Attitudes to trans people aren't as rigidly determined by where people are on the political spectrum as they seem to be in the US. There are lifelong far left people who are transphobic, and a Conservative MP who is trans and speaks up on trans issues (though they have done plenty of shitty things, typical of a Tory MP).

I would say a lot of it is ignorance, and not caring about things that don't affect you personally. Not many know anyone who is trans. Those that do tend to be more supportive.

Personally, I don't see the need for any age restrictions once a person reaches majority. If you think a candidate is too callow or too senile, vote for a different one.

I do find it ironic that Ukraine got the public vote as well and won two years ago but Israel in a similar situation only got 5th.

It means that there was a reasonably effective vote stuffing campaign by pro Israel groups. The 'silent majority' doesn't vote in Eurovision.

There were also anti Israel attempts to stuff the vote, but these were hampered by the fact that no one really knew which country would be the best anti Israel vote, while all the pro voters had to do was vote Israel (just as all the pro Ukraine voters had to do was vote for that country).

France is my fave ballade this year, love the chord progression and melody, and the acapella part is beatiful.

France could surprise everyone. He has a great voice, and the simple staging really stands out amidst all the absurd effects used by others.

Whether you support it or not, the fact that tens of thousands of innocent people have been slaughtered puts anything they happens in a TV music show into perspective.

Pretty sure there will be coordinated efforts to make Israel win.

And to ensure they lose, but that's more difficult as the vote splits. Best bet would be to vote for Croatia as they are favourites.
