Anakins turn was awkward it's like 5 seconds of regret and then boom super evil. I know his plan was to learn how to save Padme from Palps then kill him but I don't what had Anakin convinced an old Sith Legend could save his wife, pure desperation I guess....

I'm sure to Lucas the story isn't complete without knowing about Anakin's unusual origins but from a story perspetive I think it's starting too early. It's not enough about his fall. Episode 1 he's the one to kill a Sith in anger only he's hailed a hero for it. Episode 2 is less love story and more war. We see him commit wartime crimes that he justifies as for the greater good. None of the other Jedi know, maybe one finds out and he kills him. Episode 3 is Palpatine making his move, he knows about Anakin's missteps, blackmails him, corrupts him further, finishes his transformation to the dark side.

Or maybe something different. But everything is really too much about Palpatine. It's his first move, the start of his war, and his finishing move. Anakin is along for the ride but he's not the one ever driving the story.

Hank is not a racist. I'm afraid you've gotten actual racism confused with offensive language. Hank uses insensitive racial language, but he does not harbor any sort of hatred or disregard toward people of any race. I consider such accusations to be slander.

Hank relies on racial stereotypes to make decisions. He has non-white friends but hes a little racist too. People are complicated mixes.

The Beauty and Beast is always going to be a messed up storyline but the remake fills in some gaps, not all of them. I do think that remake is the better version.

Depends on the sauce. If I got my first choice of a mustard-based sauce then there's no ranch, but my favorites don't align with most people so when we're ordering as a group I'm usually much happier with the ranch.

For the olympics, mutli-sport athletes are generally the bigger draw. They're not done as quickly.

Same thing with Trump, if it wasn't him, it would've been someone else.

The movement would've been there, but the result could've been different. Successes and failures aren't guaranteed.

Exactly. We're that retired guy still running 5Ks. Sure we're not medaling anymore and our days are numbered but we still got some spring in our step for the moment.

A musician can live a long time off a hit album but comedy gets old faster. There are certain types of comedies that won't be successful if made now just as there's other things made now that couldn't have been made in the past. You weren't going to be on the national stage in the past if you identified as LGTB.

But ultimately, if you're a comedian you've got to make the audience laugh. All these old comedians complaining about the woke masses, they're not robots. They are humans capable of laughter and if you can't hit that spot anymore then that's on you.

It still kicking but took a year break. Season 16 came out last year. 17 is set to start filming this fall.

Anakin looks even more like an idiot if he sided with Palpatine knowing he had just murdered three Jedi. He didn't think Palpatine was gonna kill Mace, which is why he was shocked to see him do it. If he knew Palpatine killed the other Jedi, then he wouldn't be surprised to see him kill another one.

I don't believe that short list. Marco Rubio doesn't even make sense. The Florida electors can't cast their votes for 2 Floridians so Rubio would be 30 electoral votes behind Trump with someone else as his VP on the Florida ballot.

Tim Scott is probably on the list just to make him feel important but there's no way he's actually in consideration.

Was he heckled or did they just not laugh? Sounds like hr failed to do his job. Even if he wasnt a bigot, comedy gets old much faster than other types of entertainment. If hes saying he wont update his act then hes not a comedian anymore.

Movies and shows today are much more willing to explore dark and adult content but they are less gratuitous with sex scenes and are less likely to trivialize the importance of consent. I dont understand how he reached the conclusion movies used to be more geared towards adults if hes not basing that off gratuitous sex scenes.

My theory is that everyone knows our lockdown strategy is essentially a luck based strategy. Hide and hope the attacker doesn't find you. We need to pass meaningful gun regulations but that's outside of the power of the people running drills. They want to feel like they are doing something meaningful so all they can think to do is make it more realistic. But a realistic simulation doesn't help you avoid getting shot in the real thing.

The new dumb thing they do at my school is they end the drill by an administrator walking the building, unlocking the doors and telling you in-person. That's because in real life the situation would end by the police coming to your door so this is more realistic. When I asked how does them unlocking the door better prepare me, their response was I might freeze up. I don't even know what that means. I think it'd be fine to freeze up in front of a cop.

high school kids and they should be prepared for an active shooter without 3+ hours notice. and once again, it should be at school, not on a field trip, and no one should be using anything that sounds like real gunshots.

An unannounced drill gives you practice feeling you are about to die. Thats not a good mental state for an adult let alone a high schooler. The most likely coping method is to assume its always a drill even when there are clear signs its not, making people less prepared.

And even if they dont react that way, what is that experience getting them to do differently? Fire drills practice calmly walking to the nearest exit, something against natural instincts. Tornado drills train where to go. But lockdown drills dont have anywhere to go.

If everyone knows ahead of time that a drill is happening, it's not taken seriously. people just "plan ahead" and clear the hallways and get everyone ready. this is not helpful, because it's not how a real fire emergency would ever happen. and this is adults. kids take it even less serious.

If a family member calls and tells you that you a different family member died, itll provoke a realistic reaction but its not leaving you any prepared for the real thing. Fire drills are to stop the urge to run. Tornado drills train where to go. Ive never been able to figure out what lockdown drills are teaching.

I've seen how people react to pre-announced fire drills, vs surprise fire drills, vs real fires. People take the surprise drills much more seriously, and do what they're supposed to do, because they don't know it's just a drill.

if everyone active shooter drill a kid goes through is something they know about 3 hours ahead of time, what happens when there's a real shooter? they treat it like a drill, not something serious. Unless you really expect someone to shout "THIS IS NOT A DRILL!" over the intercom like it's a movie.

1) They'll hear the gun fire in the real event so the words "this is not a drill" won't be necessary.

2) The purpose between the drills to create a learned behavior that's different from your natural inclination. When it comes to a fire, an unprepared group will run and trample someone whereas the drilled group has the training to walk out calmly. When it comes to lockdowns, what exactly are we drilling them to do? Most lockdown drills are just "hide in the corner" which is exactly what the undrilled population did at Virginia Tech and hundreds of other shootings. They don't practice jumping out windows or barricading doors.

I've said that so many times to my administrators and yet they keep trying to make drills more realistic. It stops their worse ideas but they're still slipping in that direction.

The simulation, which occurred at the Burlington police station, was meant to show the unreliability of witness statements.

There's like a million better ways to do that. Have an annoyed person rush past the group then ask them about it a couple minutes later saying that person committed a robbery.

Or show anonymized conflicting eye-witness reports for them to read and somehow fit together.

I found this very disappointing. Palpatine would've come off as much more threatening if he competently fought off multiple Jedi for an extended period. But here, they die so quickly that you don't have time to mentally register their presence. Makes the Jedi look weak instead of Palpatine being strong.
