It depends. Used games or digital games on sale run from the price of a fast food hamburger to the price of a round of golf.

Used videogame consoles are worth buying when they get down to the $100 to $125 mark.

Or you can buy new everything. $600 consoles, $2500 computers, $60-$125 games.

You can spend pretty much as much or as little as you want.

Im not sure why people need to get so offended by everything

Because she corrected him multiple times and he kept bullying her for no other reason than he's a fucking transphobic bigot.

I think you missed the point

It doesn't hurt you in any way, so just write the dude off as an asshole and move on with your life, sometimes people are assholes and you just have to accept that as part of life

Yeah, accepting the status quo and not doing anything about is how you get a country of bigoted piece of shit people like him.

Yep. This bozo convinced everyone in the store that the redneck stereotype is totally true, transgendered people are just crazy men wearing pink. That's why unnecessary bathroom laws are passed, that's why protections for the transgendered are rolled back, that's why antidiscrimination laws specifically exclude the transgendered. Way to go! Lunatic, because he doesn't like being treated like that from a transphobic bully. Yes, she overreacted, but you're acting like he did nothing wrong, which is a pretty dangerous mindset.

Also, the average age of gamers now is in their 20's-30's, so calling Gamestop a kids' gaming store is straight up not right, especially when they've been catering more to the late teens to 20's crowd in the recent years.

Bully, because twice the size of the gamestop employee, and cursing at the top of their lungs and threatening violence while the employee remains polite.

@lihlih : do you really defend this as appropriate behavior? Helpful to the public image of trans people? A credit to the LGBT community?

And, if the cops had been called, would this person go to male or female holding based on their ID, legal status, and anatomy? Misgendered indeed.

Oh right, because she needs to act like the preconceived notion that women need to act "ladylike", and can't stand up to a clearly bigoted person trying to bully her for her gender identity.
I mean, trashing the displays was way over the line, but that employee doesn't deserve to live in a civilized society. Move to some bullshit state like Texas or Alabama if you want to live like that.

Certainly freaking out and causing a scene is appropriate behavior in our society. The employee apologized, even though it seems like a natural error given this person's very masculine presentation. I think this person was deliberately looking for trouble.

Nope, the employee kept making the "mistake" after being corrected over and over again. Then he kept telling her to stop cussing when she stopped cussing a long while before he asked her to, and he even made the "mistake" during that bullshit clearly just to anger her. He was clearly a bigoted bully, and if you think the employee was in the right, you're clearly one too.

after the mentally ill person started cursing and screaming in front of kids about getting his money back

The video clearly doesn't start from the beginning, and from context clues, you can clearly tell that he's made the "mistake" at least once(seems like it was more than once, but that's not clear). I mean, if you really want to bend everything you can just because you hate transgender people, maybe just do it in your head instead of putting it out in public.

I don't hate transgender people. Transgender people are fine. Drag Queens are okay too. But I resent macho bullies misappropriating my gender by wearing pink shoes and screaming "call me ma'am".

Yep. Once you find a trustworthy shop, stick with them. I found the shop I've used for the last 15 years by looking for a good selection of sports and performance cars in the parking lot. Car folk are picky about how their cars are cared for. I do my own maintenance, but take my cars in for state inspection and occasional things that need a chassis hoist.

Check that they tightened the oil filter. Jiffy Lube didn't on one of my cars, lost all the oil in 100 miles. Also check that they remembered to put oil in after they drained the old oil out, they've been known to forget.

It's a good idea to change your own oil. It's easy, and you know the quality of the oil because you chose it yourself. And you know it's done right, no crossthreading the filter or stripping the threads of the drain plug. Take the old oil back to the auto parts store for recycling.

You tend to get what you pay for. A cheap $10 antenna is most likely going to perform like a cheap $10 antenna. In other words, it likely won't perform well at all.

I don't use an antenna myself, but I have researched the subject a bit back when I was looking to cut the cable cord. From what I have read, Mohu makes the best antennas.

Generally though, 50 miles is about the limit you will get with an indoor antenna. If you need a larger range, then you're probably going to need an outdoor antenna. (That's actually the reason why I never got an antenna since I live more than 50 miles from the closest towers, and I live in an apartment so I can't have an outdoor antenna.)

It also depends on your height above terrain. VHF/UHF TV signals are pretty much line-of-sight. An indoor antenna, on the first floor, at ground level, in city clutter, is doing good to get signals from 10 miles away, and is still going to show flutter and ghosting in the rain or any other atmospheric disturbance.

The best way to "cut the cable cord" is with streaming internet services.

It certainly could if it isnt properly galvanized and creates a path of lesser resistance for the current

"Galvanized"? Like rain gutters? Made of steel, plated with zinc so it's resistant to rust? Copper wires aren't "galvanized". And hair-thin earbud wires would melt before conducting any significant current to the earbud, they're rated only for signal-level: millivolts at nearly zero current.

Has to be a constructed story. I can't imagine earbud wires carrying enough current to melt plastic before burning themselves out. Even if they were plugged directly into a light socket.

Then imagine the transformer in a charger shorting out and shooting 110 or 220 VAC into the battery of a cell phone, ipod, or whatever, likely just fry the charging diode, maybe explode the Lithium battery, but earbuds? That's one that doesn't even need Mythbusters or Snopes.

Edit: Yep, found it on Snopes: unproven

And that is on you because you didn't download them even though they told you months in advance you would need to do that in order to keep them. As with any game (physical or digital) you need to backup your games. Hard drives fail, cartridges fail, disks rot, you need to keep multiple copies of your games. That is why back-ups are legal and will stay legal for as long as media is a thing.

Wrong. Backups don't work. Only the single copy you downloaded and modified with an "activation" code within a limited window will work.

Imagine a digital future with (for example) SCEA unilaterally deciding what games you can play, for how much, and deactivating games you have bought when THEY decide they are obsolete or no longer profitable to maintain a storefront for.

. If you show me a case where it has happened then I stand corrected, otherwise the conspiracy theories have no basis in reality.

For example, on Steam you can buy games from their marketplace, but you can also buy them from 3rd parties at varying prices (including Amazon/Ebay/BestBuy/etc.) and then just input the code to have the game added to your library. It has been a pretty common practice for the last decade, even on digital games from PSN and XBox Marketplace.

Half of my Steam library was not even bought on Steam.

Apples vs. Oranges.

It totally is a black and white thing. Think of Sony unexpectedly discontinuing PSMobile and making the (purchased, from PSN) PSM libraries useless. They offered a limited time code to "activate" PSM games, but they can't be transferred, backed up, etc, and any purchased game you bought that you didn't "activate" within the time limit is useless.

Steam: how many console games are available through Steam? Consoles have proprietary BIOS and only play games for that console with DRM, while computers from different manufacturers will play DOS, Windoze, etc. computer games.

I have 3DS games bought through Humble Bundle, but the code is still for the Nintendo Store, not an independent vendor.I

Imagine a digital future with (for example) SCEA unilaterally deciding what games you can play, for how much, and deactivating games you have bought when THEY decide they are obsolete or no longer profitable to maintain a storefront for.

Anything that gives a single vendor a monopoly is bad.

If the only way to get games is from XBL/PSN at whatever price they want to charge and whatever availability and restrictions they want? Bad.

Work doesn't bother me, I can lie down next to it and sleep soundly.

Telling untruths at work, never. That's a good way to look foolish when reality turns around and bites you.

Moved from deep snow country 30 years ago, but every time it dips below freezing I think I haven't moved far enough south.
