TopicCommandments Trump has broke

Kaldrenthebold posted...
It's easier to list the ones he hasn't broken:
Enough dancing around, let's put the man to the test.

I'm going to be as generous to Trump as possible as some of these commandments are vague and open to interpretation.

The Ten:
1) You shall have no other gods before Me.
I'm going to give Trump a pass on this one, but in a letter of the law not spirit of the law kind of way. He doesn't put other Gods before Christian God (but he puts himself there) - PASS (technicality)

2) You shall not worship false idols.
For the exact reason he passed above he fails here. He worships himself, and he encourages others to worship him - BROKE

3) You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
Says Goddamn, all the goddamn time - BROKE

4) Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Does not keep any day holy, only started going to church when getting into politics, and it's not like he even does it every week - BROKE

5) Honor your father and your mother.
Hmm... this is the one I'm going to be the most generous, he doesn't do anything to directly honor them, but he doesn't dishonor them - Pass

6) You shall not murder.
Another big technicality, if Jan 6 had been successful Pence would have been killed and since Trump knew this and could have reasonable stopped it, it would be the equvailant of an assassination, but that didn't happen so technically Trump is not a murder by association - Pass (technically)

7) You shall not commit adultery.
Obviously, committed 34 felons to do it at least once - BROKE

8) You shall not steal.
Most of his businesses revolve around this, if you want a specific one Trump University - BROKE

9) You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
Literally does this hundreds of times a day - BROKE

10) You shall not covet anything that is your neighbor's (specifically mentioning house and wife).
Again does this at least hundreds of times a day - BROKE

So by my VERY generous count Trump has broken 7 out of the 10 commandments
However for the 3 he did not break would argue they are "all technicalities" he breaks the sprite of the commandment.

And of the commandments he does break, he breaks them all the time with no remorse or intent to stop ever.

Yet Evangelical Christians love him more than Jesus.

I can not stress this enough, republican leadership supports trump even though he lead an angry mob intent on killing them.

Trump could TRY to murder someone in time square and not lose a single republican vote, including the vote of the person he tried to murder if hes MAGA.

Not remotely enough to matter. But I would love it if that were the case.

My faith in my fellow Americans has been shatter beyond repair just by the fact that Trump was the front runner in the 2016 election. It's 8 years later and even after his support of Nazis, Dictators, the over throw of democracy and more than 2 dozen felons... he's STILL the frontrunner.

One or two Republicans isn't enough, Trump's support should barely be his family at least point.

But in the last minutes of the original run's finale it was implied that part was all just a story Roseanne was writing and never happened.

When the show came back a lot of the retconning from the finale was un-retconned, so who knows.

Persona posted...
it was cool when I was 12 but the only reason I'd watch it now is for the animation
Pretty much this.

You have to remember when it hit America there were like 4 Anime things Americans had seen. This isn't to at all say it was bad, but it was being compared to standard American animation which there was nothing like Akira is scope, style, animation or tone at the time. For many years IT WAS ANIME.

In 2024 it's still amazing but as said above that mostly for the visuals, story wise it's actually pretty generic. It's basically 'what if an Omega level Mutant from the X-men' was crazy (which is like 74% of all X-men stories already), so nothing too new as far as story.

But how they show this visually is still impressive.

I would watch it, but don't think it's going to change your life. Just by osmosis you've been exposed to tons and tons of anime, American cartoons, and just stories in general that have been inspired by Akira so it may not have the impact on you that it did on audiences when it was new.

The general (but not universally) consensus is

Most people say either season 1, 3 or 4 are the best seasons.

A lot of people find season 2 to be the most boring, but some people say it is their favorite.

Season 5 is generally everyones least favorite, the stuff with everyones favorite characters is still good so there is a lot there but one major story arc NO ONE cares about brings the average score of the season down dramatically.

Having said that the Wire is a very slow burn series. People like the Wire on first viewing but fall in love with the Wire on viewing 2 and 3.

But its not for everyone, and thats okay.
I liked Breaking Bad, but I liked the Wire more, and I thought the Sopranos was just okay

TopicWhy do we dream?
hmnut7
06/17/24 8:01:30 AM
#7
Brain is still a mystery.

Do dreams mean anything? Almost impossible to tell because we generally don't fully remember dreams.

But during REM sleep (when dreams happen) the majority of our body functions have stopped, only basic 'life support' stuff is happening, our brains have much less to focus on, but they are still active.

I personally think it's like a computer, our subconscious realizes it doesn't need as much processing power to run the whole body, so it REM is a good time to do some back in maintenance on the brain, on the front in (conscious mind that interprets thoughts) views it as a dream, but the dream itself may not mean anything

Like how coding can look like a string of text that if you don't understand it looks like gibberish, but you run it on your computer it's Fortnight.

edit: a better analogy would be the 'Blood Red Moon' in Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, something that looks like it has something to do with the story, but is just a way for the games back in coding to rest so it can avoid bugs.

hmnut7

I am extremely concerned about a second Trump term, why? Because I was extremely concerned about a first Trump term, and people told me "oh you're being an alarmist, it won't be that bad"

And the thing is.... I WAS RIGHT, THEY WERE WRONG!!!!!

Just a handful my legitimate concerns that came true:
  • Muslim Ban
  • Nazis marching down American Streets
  • Mass deportations, families separated, children (and adults) in cages.
  • Cozying up to dictators
  • Ending a woman's right to choose.
  • Improper handling of a contagious disease
  • Refusing to accept election results and using violence to remain in power.
In 2016 all of that seemed CRAZY to worry about, I was told REPEATEDLY nothing like that could ever happen. Yet it all happened.

So I am very worried about Trump winning in 2024.

They feel these features make the game too easy, which saying you beat the game too less of an accomplishment but even casual players can beat the game now.

Miss is a strong word, millions died, many more were (and still are getting) very sick for long periods of time. I pray that we never have anything close to a pandemic ever again.

But there was something to the forced isolation, even being forced to stay with family brought people closer, made us all more self reliant, how many people cut their own hair for the first time? I know I did, it sucked and I would never do it again but I tried something new.

And most importantly when it was over we appreciated socializing more. That first time you went to an actual party was amazing.

Also makes you realize what group social things you can live without. Sorry controversial opinion but I can live with Movie theaters. I will use them because thats where they play movies but given the option Ill watch at home.

The bad dramatically outweighed the good. But there was some good in there.
