Are you asking can you get a great well conditioned safe car thats 2013 or 2015? Without dropping an arm or leg, or paying 700+/month? The answer is yes. I'm not talking about BMWs either.

You can most definitely get a used great car for less than 700 or 800/month. The problem is where you're shopping for cars and what cars you are exactly looking for.

If all you can "find" is cars for 700+ a month, it's definitely you and what/where you're looking.

It's up to you how you want to live, but again, no one is forcing you to buy the most expensive car on the block then complain you can't afford it. You don't need that expensive car, you want that expensive car. With 150k/year, you can most definitely afford a reasonably priced car that isn't eating your finances so much that you are paycheck to paycheck.

If they're contributing significantly to retirement funds, 529's, and still saving money, then it's difficult to say they're living paycheck to paycheck. And that's what my main question consists of. People in those income ranges have those kind of savings expectations. While someone who is actually living paycheck to paycheck, sees those savings expectations as luxury items.

Could they pay rent if they minimized those savings for a month? If so, is it really paycheck to paycheck?

How on earth can people making THAT much be living paycheck to paycheck? Thats almost insane to me. I make like $38K a year (you can keep your insults to yourself, I beat myself up a lot for this already) and Im living comfortably. Always make rent, utilities, car payment, etc. and put money into retirement.

Normally I'd disagree with debating but in recent years it's absolutely pointless. You'll never change anyone's mind, especially not people with an audience who relies on them to feed them opinions.

Carl Winslow was a pretty good dad to his own biological children, Steve Urkel, and his adopted son 3J. He wasn't particularly preachy like some TV dads, but he was always there when they needed him and could be as accommodating or stern as the situation demanded but always supportive regardless of the circumstance.

So yeah, I'd put him on the list.
