The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the best open-world/sandbox games ever, IMO, for different reasons.

the former for its freedom of gameplay & physics, and the latter for how fully realized its world feels.
Open world=/=sandbox. To be fair.

Sandbox games are open world, but not all open worlds are sandboxes. A sandbox game is an open world game that gives you a ton of tools and options to create your own fun outside of the actual missions and activities. They're games that are fun to just fuck around in. Breath of the wild is definitely sandbox, RDR2 not so much.

What could end these protests would be the city/state leadership making a peace offering. Civilian oversight, better training in de-escalation for officers, etc. And arrest the murderer as any non-cop who just killed a man would be. Theyre not even trying to hear the community out.
The culture in policing is deeply engrained and widespread. For every 1 good cop, there are 10 who are part of the "old guard".

Yup. The only thing in the original game that required you to not use the one attack over and over was literally one single fight. The royal edition added two other fights that you can't rely on that alone, so three fights in the entire game that require anytginf beyond a singlw attack.

The road trip bits are fun enough, but once the actual story comes in and it goes more on rails from one sequence to another, it becomes utter shit. Chapter 13 is horrid, and it's all downhill from there.

Royal edition did in fact help make the final chapter better, and the overall experience more fun, but it's still a tremendously flawed, broken game.

I been seeing less and less filler content in games of late and dont see the big deal so long as its handled properly. Taking a break from saving the world getting sidetracked from your quest saving the world can be a breather at times.

And while its died off now QTEs during the PS2 era were a fucking plague. After GoW every action game under the sun was replicating it and horribly.

KH2, and sonic unleashed come to mind that handled it especially poorly in my opinion.

Edit: Motion controls, buff said.
FF7 remake is chock full of filler content. It's a 10 hour story with 20 hours of filler.

90% of games have no business having a crafting system. Useless items accumulate in your inventory until you try to craft the ultimate weapon at the end of the game and you need 30 of 5 items you've never even before. It's bullshit.
Dragon age inquisition literally only had crafting, there wasn't a single piece of good loot that was any better than anything you'd have already crafted for your level.

Witcher 3 was heavy on crafting, but at least it still had decent loot, to the extent you could ignore crafting entirely and rely on that, which is how it should be. Crafting was mostly useful for the witcher school gear, which is the best gear, but isn't necessary.

I know it's not unique to this gen, but I hate it when games take control away from you for long stretches of time to tell a story.

it happens a lot in Persona 5, which I legitimately believe is a bad game because of it, especially when you consider its poor pacing.

it's also like that in the Yakuza series, but they at least have fun gameplay, and side activities and missions that you can usually do whenever you want outside of the main campaign.
Persona 5 was meh, imo, and I loved p3 and p4.
