It's not critically important really. You might be a bit lost at the beginning of 2, and miss a few details throughout the game, but you'll still understand most of the game.

they're unlocked at different story events, usually after completing a specific world. One does unlock after a Colloseum tournament though.

Honestly, you could just do the trinity stuff after beating the world, cause I think once you lock the keyhole, enemies stop appearing until you leave the world and come back. So good opportunity to do that.

X-2 had so much cringe in getting a perfect ending. i had some points come up where i thought i wasn't going to get it.

missing just one thing would reduce the overall percentage.

I remember following the strategy guide, and I got to like 99.3% or some shit like that. I went out and bought a gameshark and hacked in 100% to see the ending. In hindsight, not sure why I didn't look it up on YT.
