Wouldn't a Generic Species contest have a fairly obvious winner? Because there was a generic species that broke the Noble Nine this contest.

Allen will have to decide whether he wants to add the Pokemon or not. If not, Yoshi is still a prime candidate.

You can also go with Generic Enemies instead, but there's a whole debate on whether Pokemon are eligible for that, too.

Generic Enemies without Pokemon could be very wide open, but those who don't like Nintendo are going to have a hard time with all of the Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Octoroks, etc.

I see Fox getting around 42 or something. Which I mean sure that's like 25 points but I feel like you could get an even bigger swing with like Nathan Drake vs CATS or something.

But there's a lot less invested in Nathan Drake and CATS than there is in Pikachu (and probably Fox too) these days.

I'd take Pikachu over Sephiroth as well. I feel like every character that relies on a "cool" factor for popularity fell off a bit this contest as the site gets older. With Vincent dropping as much as he has, not hard to imagine Sephiroth being similarly affected. Pikachu is the face of one of the most popular franchises on this site, not really too surprising he's strong. It ain't 2002 any more.

In 2002, Pikachu scored 54.41% on PaRappa The Rapper.

In 2018, Pikachu gets over 80% on PaRappa The Rapper (exact value depends on your Xstats of choice).

No character can say they've improved as much as Pikachu.

I just think it's mostly undeserved. Even in FF7 he is bland, says next to nothing and has no personality.
