I'm reading a series called Cowboy Necromancer which has a ton of focus on Chili recipies/food etc, and while I have had them in mexican dishes over the years, it's never been a focus of any of the foods I normally eat.

So I did a bit of research and the web even says eating them may make you live longer, and that they are very healthy with more Vitamin C than oranges and other good vitamins as well.

So I'm gonna get some next time I go shopping, and start cooking with them more often.

Any of you cook with them? Have any favorite dishes etc? Thinking of stir frys, maybe I'll try cutting some up in my pasta sauce next time (always used bell peppers before) and things like that. Even the dishes I did use them in, in the past, I never actually ate the peppers.

First one was more fun. It's just a rogue-lite type dungeon crawler game where you buy various upgrades after each run, setup up a party (starting with just drunks and eventually adding clerics/mages/fighters etc) and run through dungeons over and over again. Fun little game to play.

Not gonna watch the video but from my recollection.

In a verdict like this both parties need to pay the money owed, but in Depp's case he can "pay himself" so he pays the $2million but it gets given right back to him as partial payment by Heard, reducing the amount she owes to $8.35 mill. Pretty sure it works the same way here as in family court etc.

I'm not down on the appeal process for something like this, but I know that you can normally appeal something without fronting the money owed. This isn't my type of law though, and that may be different, also it's quite possible that it could be a bond for a % of the total money owed as well (IE 10% of the 8.35 mill or 835k). In theory that could be put up by someone else for her as well I believe, and also possibly returned after the appeal even if they don't win.

Don't have the info on that and not going to do the research. I still think an appeal by heard would be stupid though as honestly she got of lucky especially considering the complusary damages were capped. The jury intended for her to pay $15 mill not 10.35, and would probably have changed the way the split the damages if they had known in advance (they don't let the jury know those things specifically to avoid them splitting it differently).

Even the same jury given another shot at it would probably cause her to pay more. ANOTHER jury that would have to be made up of people who have seen all the media coverage and hate or Heard could drastically increase the amount she owes.....and considering the current general opinion on this case, almost certainly would either just A: Uphold the current judgment or B: Increase the amount owed by Heard or reduce/erase the amount that was ruled against for Depp.

Best bet for Heard in my opinion is to try and avoid being in the public eye for a bit, try and get some job that allows her to make a decent amount of money and create a payment plan to pay off the money she owes so she can still live a fairly comfortable life. Also invest in masks that hide her identity lol.

Gave up halfway through, just too violent/disgusting for me. Maybe woulda liked it when I was younger but probably not. Really like the lead actor but yeah, just couldn't keep watching it.

I read your long post and that is perplexing af! Cant blame you for giving up. But I refuse to believe that that is it. Do you know that having a tumor near or around the pancreas can cause your blood sugar to spike uncontrollably? And if you get that addressed you could go back to normal?

Im on my 8th week of a 600 cal a day liquid diet as a preventative measure. Its called The NewCastle Diet, based on the study done in the UK where diabetes was essentially cured.

It could very well be something like that. Back when my wife was sick and I was taking care of her, they diagnosed me with cancer (lypatic) and wanted to do tests. I couldn't due to taking care of her and while there was very annoying symptoms for awhile, they went away eventually and it's been 6 or so years now.

Thing is, I'm done with hospitals. I realize this may sound insane but I spent from 2011 to 2017 constantly in the hospital or at home taking care of my wife. So many hours in the ICU etc, and after all that she passed without us ever getting to do more than move to washington.

I just have nothing left in my gas tank to use on myself and I am not going to deal with treatments etc. I don't know what is causing my high blood sugars, blood pressure (though that is mostly taken care of by meds at least), extreme dry mouth (even using tons of methods to fight it) and a bunch of other problems. When I get sick (like I did after getting the 4th covid shot), I don't go to the hospital, I just live through it. I'm done with hospitals. I was willing to try dieting, exercise etc, and I'm taking pills and insulin but yeah, it's not working and i'm still getting worse.

If it's something like cancer etc, then I won't do any treatments anyway so there is no point in getting it diagnosed. My doctor knows my feelings on the issue and is ok with it (not happy, but she accepts it). I have no family anymore, no close friends (just casual ones), and am more then ready to be done with all this, I just would like to avoid suffering much in the process. I have a DNR to ensure I don't waste resources on a machine or in the hospital if I have a stroke or something, and i'm just trying to keep entertianed/not bored and in as little pain as possible until I pass.

One of the most damaging things against Amber is that she attacked him after their relationship was over, trying to ruin his career, while he didn't do anything, or say anything against Amber at all. He even had friends who could have tanked her career etc, and he didn't do anything like that.

She AGAIN abused him even when they were separated, for no reason other than she could, and she had gotten away with it repeatedly in the past with no repercussions. She STILL almost got away with it, and if he hadn't decided to make his life public like he did, she would have gotten away with it scot free. Even now, while there are many who see her for what she is, there are tons who are on her side as well, and more then likely she will actually get some offers etc (they say she is done in hollywood but there are some celebrities on her side etc, and it just takes a few to give her a shot).

She brought this on herself, he did not attack her, he didn't go forth and tell the world what she put him through, he simply moved on with his life after giving her 7 mill in a settlement. SHE wrote that op ad and defamed him, knowing full well what would happen, and she made her own bed and then shat in it.

I had a bad reaction to the first booster shot, enough that I planned on skipping any more.

I forgot though, and ended up getting the second booster shot a bit over a month ago, and had a really bad reaction to it.

The first booster shot was primarily bad due to it setting off spasms in my right arm (where I got the shot). i also got the flu shot in the other arm at the same time. I did have a fever and chills as well, but the spasms in my arm set off my back and that was extremely painful, so what I focused on.

When they offered me the second booster shot I told them about my reactions but only mentioned the spasming and the nurse said that was normal and just to rotate the arm a bunch after the shot and it should avoid the spasms.

It did, but, I got MUCH worse chills and fever and it lasted for 30 hours. I hate hospitals and still almost went to the ER. I called once it was over and described everything to them (they take notes of bad reactions) and had them put it on my chart to not get another shot in case I forget (I have a tendancy to forget bad experiences).

I'm one of the only people I know who got the 4th shot already (an uncle of mine and one friend did but had no negative reactions), so it's probably not very common, but damn did it suck.

I'm in good shape actually, I was originally overwieght (not by a ton but a good 30-40 pounds more than was healthy). I had this great idea that loosing weight and exercising would help get my blood sugars under control since diet alone was not doing it.

After loosing 40 pounds though, my levels actually went freaking up, so i have mostly given up at this point. I'm maintaining my weight (I could still lose about 10 more pounds if I really worked at it), but honestly it doesn't make a difference and my kidneys are going now (along with severe eyesight problems etc). Ain't anything I can do about it. I can try a few alternative drugs like Victosa, but that has a history of hurting the kidneys and isn't recomended with someone who already has stage 3 kidney disease, so it might help my blood sugars in the short run, but increase the speed my kidneys go.

I have no intention of doing Dialysis, so when they get bad enough (about nother 50% drop...you can avoid dialysis till your at about 3% filtration and i'm at about 53% right now), I'll just die. Could be a few years, could be shorter.

My wife had a similar issue and died due to an infection in her heart because they couldn't get her blood sugars under control either (she was in the hospital due to kidney failure and under dialysis (which she wasn't able to get fast enough so they sent her to another hospital in Oregon).

I've done the whole get healthy, eat no carbs etc etc, it didn't work. I still avoid carbs, I take my pills etc, but I've pretty much given up on it getting better unless they come out with a new medication in the next year or so.

depp, by his own admission, is an abuser.

And in that clip she is abusing him while he is trying to flee/defuse the situation. He only admitted to abusing himself, never anyone else, which he has denied multiple times.

Your right, it is more than just physical, and she abused him verbally, emotionally AND physically. She proved that he may have retaliated a few times after being abused by her (verbally), but not that he physically abused her in any way. She has also been convicted of abusing others in the past (which was not sadly let into the trail) while he has no history of it at all.

She is an abuser, it's very obvious that is true. He on the other hand may have reacted to that abuse a few times but there is no evidence at all that he is naturally an abuser or has abused others and if there was any evidence of that, they would surely have brought it forward.

If the genders were swapped and he was a girl and she was a guy there would be no dispute here at all, imagine a guy saying "I didn't punch you, I only hit you" and attacking a girl that caused multiple trips to the emergency room etc over years. That guy would have been arrested and it would have been all over the news if it was a celebrity. If the genders were reversed nobody would be arguing for Amber at all.

I'm insulin resistant and can't get my glucose levels under 400 pretty much. A1c is over 11 regularly now. Anything under 120 is good (not sure what you have to worry about on the low side, since I never hit the low side).

Sounds like your fine right now but if your doctor is monitoring it you might want to change your eating habits now to avoid a more drastic change and or pills/insulin later.

If you don't believe that Amber was the instigator and that johnny was trying to avoid confrontation and not hit her back etc, watch/listen to this full clip. It's long, so most probably won't let me give some highlights.

In this Amber admits he hasn't hit her, Johnny literally says he left when she was throwing things at him previously to avoid getting so angry that he might hit her. She admits to having just socked him in the jaw, and that she hit him multiple times. Even in this sound bite alone she pursues him and doesn't let him leave, calling him a coward because he won't fight her.

There is more, and sadly they did not play this in court (just a small part of it) as I think if the jury had heard the whole thing they may have ruled differently. It's very obvious to me that Amber was the aggressor though and while Johnny certainly had problems it seems amazing that even while he was on drugs and often drunk, he never physically abused her (or at least there is no evidence of that) and she seems to acknowledge in this clip that he has not hit her (which is after when she claims he had now in court). Honestly I would consider this enough evidence to prove perjury since she claimed in court he hit her before this, yet doesn't deny that he hasn't hit her while she didn't know she was being recorded. In fact, she calls him a wimp, weak, and pathetic because he didn't hit her.

That totally sounds like someone who has been abused and is scared of the person she is interacting with. The only person who sounds scary in this clip is Amber.

Why did Johnny admit to cutting his own finger? You don't seem very familiar with the actual court proceedings.

Amber heard had a witness that said he told her that, he never publically said he did, in fact he always said the opposite and even the witness said "she couldn't remember when he told her that". Basically it was made up. Nobody cuts off their own freaking finger, and if he did, he would have had a reason and blamed it on her or something *which he didn't at the time*. Also there is freaking video of the incident along with testimony from security guards etc showing that she was throwing things etc. It's pretty obvious if you watched the trial that she threw a bottle and it cut off his finger.

In my opinion Johnny proved she abused him multiple times, and should have been arrested for throwing the bottle (along with other items) at him that cut off his finger. He had recordings of her GOADING him to try and get him to hit her and him refusing, while she said he wasn't a man etc.

There were no recordings of him abusing her without provication, no evidence of him hitting her without being attacked first etc. At most you could say it was a mutually abusive relationship where she instigated things as well, but that would not prevent her from losing due to defamation (She said he was abusive, not that he was retaliating or that they had a toxic relationship etc).

The UK trial was totally different and decided by a judge only, and alot of evidence was not allowed.

Amber is crazy to appeal this because an appeal comes with the potential of a more sever/harsher penalty. While she might (doubtful but might) get past the 8 mill verdict eventually, she could end up with a worse verdict and it can't be knocked out with bankruptcy. If she really doesn't have any money though (or less than 2mill) then she doesn't really have anything to lose.

I'm a bit surprised the jury didn't throw its hands up and say they were both abusive and award neither party any moneys considering where this was tried and the likely large religious background in that area. Johnny has made no secret of his drug/alcohol addiction, has piercings/tattoos etc and alot of that at least used to be frowned apon in that part of the US. It may be different now though, and also he is a celebrity many children (now adults on jury) grew up with.

Of the two, I believe Amber was the most aggressive and abusive. I don't get the feeling Johnny was abusive with others in his life, so I put the blame mainly on her (Even if he was abusive back). She herself said in court that she never saw herself as a victim, but that is how she presented herself in the op ad etc, in order to defame Johnny and hurt his carrier. She did that on purpose, and that is what the case was about...she maliciously attacked him after they were seperated and tried (and succeeded) to hurt his career.

Now she has paid for that choice.

I work at an assisted living facility. There is no excuse for not following proper quarantine protocol.
Edit: I feel it's worth pointing out that the company I work for actually had to implement strict protocols for COVID-19... before the government did anything at all, and our facility's protocols were stricter than what the government ended up doing. Useless ass Trump could have gotten a third of our residents killed, the stupid fucker.

I worked as a home health aid as well for awhile and yeah it just makes sense to do that. I was a bit flustered to be honest that my friend wanted to just ignore it and act like normal. Why I posted this to get a feel for what most people think.

I got covid like 3 weeks ago in Mexico and didn't have a phone and self isolated and pulled up duolingo (laptop) to figure out how to say what my allergies were, if I needed to get to the hospital, and what my emergency contacts were (was supposed to be there with a friend who lives there otherwise I would have studied beforehand if I knew I needed to fend for myself)

anyway yeah, self isolated. kn95s to get there. waited until I felt better and had a negative test to fly one cause the states wouldn't let me back in otherwise anyway and two was the right thing to do (could have flown to the UK technically). my friend stocked me up on food and pedialyte (I also must have gotten tap water in me based on other things happening to my body) before ditching me there. super fun.

Ugh that sounds horrible, some friend....jeez. Glad you are ok and back home and good on you for protecting others:)

A mixture is the obvious solution, and also avoiding a form of capitalism that focuses on the wealthy and corporations, ensuring that money is distributed based on work/effort and not power/wealth).

A baseline of income for everyone who is working, those who are disabled and those who are retired makes sense, and can still allow for a wide range of incomes and wealth levels. Socialism can simply mean that we, as a people, work at least in part for the betterment of our nation as a whole, and to ensure everyone has a baseline of care/resources to live on.

Many simple ideas such as universal healthcare (and enough hospitals to provide it), a good education system (that doesn't put people into life long debt to obtain), and affordable housing can be implemented without totally scrapping capitalism. A portion of taxes can be used to provide the above, but more importantly, the above should be considered right and NOT used as a means of creating profit for individuals.

Nobody should be making Billions of dollars a year on education. Rent should be regulated, allowing for a profit, but controlling the amount people can charge based on available properties. There are so many places to live right now in this country that nobody is using, that if you divided the rent costs by all the available places to live it would be less than half (maybe even 1/3rd). Property taxes need to be constrained as well, and not based on the "value" of properties which can be (and currently are) seriously inflated (often by banks/corporations etc by not selling homes, or leaving them empty etc).

Taxes would not even need to change much to provide a semi-socialist setup that makes life better for everyone. In addition, base pay should increase along with a % of all pay under a "living" wage line (say 50k a year at this point), both hourly and salary. You can not just keep raising minimum wage and throwing more and more skilled jobs into the minimum wage pool as you go along. That just makes more and more people live on the bare minimum poverty level wages while increasing the cost of everything so their lives are harder.

Simple, quick solutions (longer ones could be enacted later).

Increase the base tax deduction per year from 12.5k to 20k single (40k married).

Set taxes on properties based on the lowest value of a home in the last 10 years. It only increases as that number does (so currently lowest value on a home since 2012).

Both invest in low income housing across the nation to provide cheaper rental values, and set max rent prices by square feet to something reasonable. It should not cost more than 1k/month anywhere in the US for a 1 bedroom apartment, with the possible exceptions of beachfront property or other major reasons for a higher price.

Build more hospitals while expanding free healthcare to everyone (stop making it be a for profit buisiness), and more schools while paying teachers more, providing security and teachers aids/supplies. Education should be a priority in this country. Stop making education for profit at all, and provide higher education for a baseline cost (IE how much it costs to actually pay the teachers a decent wage). If that was the ONLY cost for education (which it should be), it would be a tiny fraction of the current cost to get a degree.

Those changes alone would have a HUGE impact on the daily lives of most Americans and other than a very few extremely wealthy ones, all positive changes. Many of the changes just cause billionaires to stop milking americans for health and education, and it would restrict how much of a profit landlords could make as well (but also reduce the taxes gained from properties so help them (especially those who were not renting and struggling to pay extremely high property taxes at this point).

Taxes would need to change a bit, but not drastically, becoming more like many European countries, where you get taxed on income over a living wage, but by a larger amount. Getting rid of loopholes so the wealthy actually PAY 30% or more, instead of somehow paying 8% while average americans pay 3-4x as much (percentage wise) would be a huge deal.

If you actually taxed the top 20% of US citizens over 30% (Say 33%) of their total profit per year, that would probably more than double our current taxes and easily pay for everything above (with money left over).

That is still a capitalist, money focused society, but one that is fair, gives value for work performed and prevents vultures from profiting on the health and education of our citizens.

I am in my bed, so not frozen, but I still choose not to walk or dance.

This makes me so mad. The kids are taught to trust the police and adults and do what they are told. They literally killed that poor kid. It's so horrible I can't even think about it.

I've had my 4th booster already btw. It did not go well though and I had them add to my chart that I can't/won't get another moderna booster at least.

I feel pretty confident about not getting it myself at this point, but I have gotten a cough a few times and used 3 of my test kits to make sure I didn't have it (and couldn't spread it to others). I still have 5 left, and have not even ordered the second set of boxes.

I don't interact with the public much since I live out on an island, just mainly going into town to shop every week or two and that is it....which makes it fairly unlikely for me to be exposed. If I did get it, just staying home for 2 weeks would not be a major difference to me.....so that also makes such a decision easier. Pretty sure I would still do that even if I lived in town etc though.

If you're in the US you can get free test kits sent to you. Initially it was just two boxes of 4 (8 total) but they just doubled that.

Sadly I do, and I have considered moving elsewhere. You're right, people here can't get behind anything just about. Even the most common sense change somehow will have one side or the other use it as a political argument why the other side sucks etc. It's extremely frustrating. But yeah, I said should.....because .....well everyone SHOULD freaking be able to get behind that.

Will it happen, doubtful. But in no way at all is it logical that a majority of people in this country would not get behind improving our education system as it would benefit everyone, even those without kids.

My perspective is a bit skewed due to having been a teacher, but I think we need to hit this problem from multiple angles. First, yes, it should be harder to get firearms in this country, at least as hard as getting a drivers license. That is a huge political crapstorm though and there are too many people against it, and too many guns out there.

Meanwhile though, we need to fund out schools more, improve them, make more of them, and ensure they are secure with gates and guards. Classrooms need to stop being freaking mobile home units that can easily be broken into with no air conditioning or windows, and teachers need to have freaking assistants to allow them to teach instead of just focus on classroom management.

THAT everyone should be able to get behind. Heck, teachers should ALSO be paid more on top of that and be provided with classroom supplies etc. The entire school/education system needs to be revamped and made a priority. Security is certainly an important part of that, but it's only a part of how badly we are failing right now.

So yeah, deal with the gun issue (hopefully by working together and coming to a compromise both sides can live with), but while that battle (and it's always a battle sadly) is going on, focus on improving our education system and the lives of teachers everywhere.

And while I have been a teacher, I am not one now, nor will I be again more than likely, so it won't affect me directly. I have been one though and I know the struggle. I still have friends who are teachers who can't even rent an apartment due to the low pay they receive and the cost of medical insurance (and having a child).

It is LONG past time to make changes, and the recent shooting is just another example of how badly prepared we are, and how massively underfunded our education system is.

Thanks, I realize my perspective/views are a bit extreme and not everyone feels that way, and to be honest I'm feeling a bit upset about my friends actions. Seeing that other people think in a similar way helps a bit. Still can't see myself doing that, but at least I can see that other people would continue on with life. I had to argue with my friend to prevent some of the above actions being done (and he was upset about it). Rather not ruin a friendship but also just can't sit by and let people be put at risk either. Was a very tough situation tbh.

As a teacher, one time about 7 years ago, we had an active alert at my school. A man had broken through the office and past security. I had another teacher watch my class and ran towards the office to intercept. I didn't think about armor, I didn't carefully approach behind buildings, I ran towards the threat as fast as I could to protect the kids. I didn't have a gun, a knife, or anything except my body to put between myself and whoever had broken into the school.

It was just an angry father (who had a bunch of issues and wasn't supposed to see his kid), but I didn't know it at the time. All the teachers were ready to protect their kids. The fact that police with body armor, guns, training etc wouldn't even approach carefully is insane. They should feel the way we did about our students for EVERYONE. That is why you should become a police officer. If your not willing to put your life at risk to save civilians, don't become a cop.

If you create an entity with the ability to think, have emotions, learn and evolve, you are creating life, no matter what the form. That life deserves certain rights, and you hold a responsibility to ensure that life is provided those rights, suffers as little as possible, and doesn't regret your act of creation if possible.

This holds true for baby humans as well, but quite often parents do not ensure the baby of it's rights or a pleasant life, so why would humans ensure other forms of creation are protected.

Yeah I actually have the second booster shot already, so I'm pretty safe. I would just test and wait a few days till I tested negative myself, no matter how long that took, but hopefully it would only be 5-7 days and then I would wait another 2.

Just curious what everyones answers will be. I know of someone who tested positive with covid and they reacted WAY differently than I would have in the same situation.

For my part my answers are.

1: yes
2: I wouldn't go out.
3: I wouldn't travel
4: I would tell everyone right away and not visit anyone until healthy.
5: I would not fly anywhere or get on a bus, or in an uber etc while infected.
6: No flying.
7: No eating out...I would order uber eats for contactless delivery and safeway.delievery (I have a plan for that in fact, I will park my car at the top of the hill and leave my trunk open if it ever happens so they can put the groceries in it).
8: That anyone would even think of doing this sigh. No I wouldn't.
9: Again, how do people think this is ok. Never.
10: That is the only one that is hard, I would be scared and would probably try to just self quarantine if possible, especially depending on the country. As far as on a cruise......the horror stories I have heard of lock downs on them....I would just avoid the situation being possible if I could. I don't know what I would do in the case of me being in that position, but I doubt I would ever be in it. I might just jump off the ship lol.
