12. I'm Still Here (Treasure Planet) - Nominated by Justin Crossing

Well I see Genesis is giving me multiple sad faces and no Disney topic should begin its swansong with sadness so I guess I have to put these last two non top ten writeups before the topic sinks into oblivion.

This writeup can be summed up with I really, really like the Goo Goo Dolls. One of my favorite bands ever and I went so far as to purchase this song off of Itunes and then re-watched Treasure Planet for the first time in years. I kind of regretted that as Treasure Planet is a really bad movie that just happens to have a couple amazing songs by the Goo Goo Dolls in it. This is going to be the most negative writeup in a long time by far because I really dislike this movie to the point I am unsure if I should even bother.

Okay so the song itself: Fantastic sounding, although it doesn't really suit Jim that well far as I am concerned. Jim deserved a much crappier song than this, because he is bothersome. He should have been thrown off the boat instead of Arrow and then the movie would have been glorious. That being said this is a song that I have a great difficulty placing outside of my top ten. I just love listening to it that much. But as you may have caught onto with Go The Distance there is more to a song with me than just how much I enjoy jamming to it. Which in this case is a metric ton. I was shocked when I started to listen to this song because I completely forgot about them doing work on this soundtrack. I am in an interesting place because I love this song and hate the movie almost as much. It isn't that the movie was terrible outright, it was that it gave you some amount of hope that it could turn around before crushing your spirit into dust.

I like my villains to be villainous. The main villain of this damn movie turned out to be a lackey who was really trying hard not to be a lackey. That is so stupid. Villains should be evil and have motivations and be accompanied by song. This movie is right in the middle of the Disney dark ages for that very reason. The villain is trying to be a good person, there is no princess for Jim to try to cozy up to, and the main character is a cheeky brat who I could barely stand who just so happens has an amazing theme song except for the minor problem that it is better than anything he does in this entire movie.

The side characters are pretty good though. B.E.N. Is fun times and Captain Amelia is a great side character. Also Jim's mom is a MILF if I could be allowed to go there. All hail Sarah Hawkins. And all hail the Goo Goo Dolls.
