DLC is a fine concept, but the problem is that gamers put the value of fancy clothing at $5, and as such why should companies make DLC that's actually worthwhile and/or a true expansion?
dlc is another one of those in theory good, in practice bad.
Just like when companies merge. Like how many of us first though square enix was gonna be great having the 2 biggest RPG companies merge into one super company.
Or how the G4 and TechTV merger ruined a decent channel in old G4, and ruined an amazing channel in TechTV?
