Capcom has published the latest financial reports for the fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2012. The company announced that there was a 16% decrease in Net Sales and a 13.8% decrease in operating income when compared to the previous year. According to the report, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City sold 1.7 million units in North America and Europe. Monster Hunter Tri G sold 1.6 million units in Japan alone. Although Street Fighter x Tekken managed to sell 1.4 million units, Capcom reports that the sales have “lagged”, while the other flagship titles “performed steadily”. Capcom expects record high profits once Resident Evil 6 has been released.

“In this business segment, in addition to “Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G”, a feature title for Nintendo 3DS selling over 1.6 million copies, “Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City” (for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), other flagship title released at the end of the fiscal year, also performed steadily, while sales of “Street Fighter X Tekken” (for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) lagged.”

Despite Street Fighter x Tekken reportedly lagging behind other titles, it’s worth noting that Capcom originally expected the game to move 2 million units worldwide. It’s likely that SFxT will still reach those numbers in the coming months, especially once the DLC characters have been released.

As of now, Street Fighter IV is still Capcom’s highest selling fighting game for current generation consoles with 3.1 million units sold. In comparison, Super Street Fighter IV has sold 1.8 million units and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds sits at an even 2 million. Unfortunately, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has not broken the one million mark. A few months ago, it was reported that UMvC3 sold 600,000 copies across both platforms. There’s no doubt that those numbers are higher now but it still hasn’t reached platinum status yet.

Capcom has a total of 54 titles that have sold more than one million units. Check out the list below to see which fighting games sold enough copies to reach platinum status.

1. Street Fighter II – 6.3m
5. Street Fighter II Turbo – 4.1m
8. Street Fighter IV – 3.1m
17. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 – 2.0m
18. Super Street Fighter II – 2.0m
22. Super Street Fighter IV – 1.8m
26. Street Fighter II’ Plus – 1.65m
36. Street Fighter x Tekken – 1.4m
50. Super Street Fighter IV 3D – 1.1m
54. Street Fighter Alpha 3 – 1.0m

I mentioned a month or two ago that rumors were out there that Capcom was not happy about SFxT or UMvC3 sales numbers, looks like that was the case.

Think SFxT can still do well, or is it dead in the water? I haven't kept up with the tournament scene for that game but it seemed like SS SFxT had people excited.
