My spirit VG character would most likely be Vincent Valentine. I don't know why but I'm instantly drawn to put him in my party (first time that I played I instantly started the mini-game to get him and got him very quickly) and I never remove him from my party.
Another good contender would be Yuri from Shadow Hearts.
