My understanding, having only watched the episode once, was that the employee wasn't snitching on him, but was part of a plan to lure Tenzin/Bei Fong/Korra to the underground base, where they could be ambushed and captured. I can't think of any reason why he'd have thought Asami wouldn't come down with them, having had her suspicions raised.
Which seems ridiculous, given Amon's belief that Korra should be fought LAST.
