I'd suggest Black/White since it's the first one to actually try to do something a bit less same-y and nostalgia reliant plot and pokemon-wise. I don't know about best yet, but that I could appreciate.
Mechanics and gameplay don't change much, but that shouldn't bother you especially if you haven't played pokemon in a good while.
