TopicWhat is it about Skyrim that makes it so darn popular?

I completely don't understand it, which is really weird because I sunk a good 120+ hours into it.

Another strange thing is that I borrowed Oblivion from a friend sometime before Skyrim was even announced and I played it for about 50 hours without even doing any of the main quest.

Perhaps the strangest thing of all is that I handed Oblivion back to my friend because I got bored of it, so what possessed me to not only buy Skyrim on release day, but to play it for so long? Surely, I'm not the only one who is bewildered by its popularity.

After playing it for so long, I'd have say the game's really just not that good. So much is lacking and so much is repetitive, yet I kept at it and in the end, it wasn't a very satisfying experience.

Is it the sense of growth, becoming more powerful that is appealing about this game? How did I let it consume so much of my life for 2ish months? I just wish I could figure it out.

What gives, man?
