I remember there being an episode of the old Garfield cartoon where Garfield tried to prove Wyoming didn't exist.
"Have you ever been to Wyoming? Do you know anyone who's been to Wyoming?"
Same principle might apply to Iowa.
Sadly, it exists. I was the driver when we crossed the state line :(
