women think the weirdest things will make them look attractive
and then their friends will be like "OH YES THAT WOULD MAKE YOU LOOK SO PRETTY" because if they didn't they would be a bad friend.
Unless it's about losing weight. Then it's "OH NO YOURE ALREADY TOO PRETTY"
That's not why they do it. They do it because they know it's a bad idea but they don't want their friends to look better than they do. So if a friend has a terrible idea that will make them look worse, they encourage it.
